Overview

SipPulse Softphone is a multi-platform SIP client for voice, video and messaging. It is best suited to telecom operators and service providers deploying communications for their users. Its browser access and free app plan are useful strengths, but mobile users must bring valid SIP credentials, and free use carries no support commitment.

The browser client works through WebRTC without installation. Across mobile and desktop, SipPulse connects to a SIP service rather than supplying one, so it fits organizations that already manage telephony accounts better than people seeking a complete calling service.

Key features

Voice, video and messaging

HD voice supports Opus, G.722 and G.711; video supports H.264 and VP8. SIP MESSAGE provides instant messaging. That makes SipPulse a broader communications client than voice-only software, while its value depends on the SIP service and credentials available to each user.

Managed configuration and integrations

Automatic provisioning delivers XML account configuration over HTTP or HTTPS, with codecs configurable through provisioning. This suits providers managing multiple accounts and deployments, rather than users who want to configure everything independently. Android ConnectionService integrates the app with system calls, and Janus Gateway is integrated with SipPulse SoftSwitch for WebRTC.

Branded apps

White-label customers can have SipPulse publish apps under their brand in Google Play and the App Store. That offers providers a branded route to distribution, though the subscription is priced per operating system and brand. The Chrome extension is coming soon, so it should not be treated as a current deployment option.

Pricing

SipPulse uses a freemium model. The App SipPulse plan costs 0.00 USD per free and covers iOS, Android, Windows and Linux, with unlimited users and installations. That is an unusually broad allowance for a free app plan, but it does not remove the need for valid SIP credentials or create a support, SLA or availability obligation for free mobile use.

The White Label subscription has custom pricing, billed per operating system and per brand. It includes branding, app-store publication and maintenance, making it the relevant choice for providers that need their own branded apps rather than a standard client. The cost structure means expanding to more operating systems or brands affects the subscription scope.

Customers with an active support contract can receive 24/7 assistance for critical incidents, software updates and technical consulting through the Atlassian portal. Free mobile use alone does not provide that commitment.

Platforms

SipPulse supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows and web. The web version uses WebRTC and needs no installation, a practical option where desktop installation is inconvenient. The Chrome extension is not yet available. Mobile and desktop apps are offered, but mobile users need SIP credentials supplied by themselves or an authorized administrator.

SipPulse states that it processes personal data in compliance with Brazil's LGPD. The technical specifications include TLS for signaling, SRTP for media and encrypted credentials, relevant protections for organizations assessing communications security.

Who it's for

The listed markets—telephone operators, virtual PBX providers, contact centers, ISPs and SCMs—align with the product's provisioning and white-label features. Providers that already administer SIP accounts can use the client across devices and choose a browser route or branded distribution. It is a weaker fit for individuals without SIP service, or teams that require support guarantees without an active support contract.

Pros and cons

Pros

Free plan covers iOS, Android, Windows and Linux with unlimited users and installations, useful for broad deployment without per-user plan caps.
Voice, video and SIP messaging are supported, with several named codecs for voice and video.
XML provisioning and codec configuration support centralized administration; white-label publication can put provider branding in app stores.
Browser access through WebRTC avoids installation.

Cons

Mobile use requires valid SIP credentials, so the app is not a standalone calling service.
Free mobile use does not promise support, an SLA or availability; organizations needing incident coverage require an active support contract.
White-label subscription pricing is custom and charged per operating system and brand.
The Chrome extension is still coming soon.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Softphone and calling apps.

Blink is worth considering if a free desktop download for Linux, Mac or Windows is the priority; it also requires a SIP account, while its Pro plan has custom pricing.

Linphone may suit readers who want an open-source client that can be integrated into projects under GNU GPLv3, with proprietary licensing available for closed-source use.

Siperb Mobile Softphone offers a free Personal plan with limited storage, seven-day SIP trace and registration activity logs, community support and no technical support.

Aria has a free plan for personal, non-commercial use with unlimited calls, multiple accounts and core softphone features; choose it if those stated terms match your use.

Zoiper offers a free Windows, Linux, Mac, Android and iOS option limited to non-commercial use, one account and two lines; those limits make it a consideration for simpler personal setups.

Bria Solo has a free personal plan limited to one device, one SIP/VoIP account and a limited number of calls per week, as well as a paid plan at 2.95 USD per year.

AGEphone is another option for personal use; business use requires AGEphone Cloud or AGEphone Business.

MicroSIP is a free Windows desktop SIP softphone under GPL v2, while a custom-branded build starts at 150.00 EUR per once.

Verdict

SipPulse Softphone is a strong fit for telecom operators and service providers that need a configurable SIP client across browser, desktop and mobile, especially when unlimited free app deployments or branded publishing matter. Choose it for its provisioning and deployment options, but look elsewhere if you need a self-contained calling service or guaranteed support without a contract.
