Overview

SelfX suits restaurants and retail operators that want checkout, ordering, kitchen coordination and stock tools in one system. Its breadth is compelling for businesses managing several order channels; the main trade-off is that the entry paid tier supports only three POS terminals and a KDS.

Key features

Checkout and ordering

The cloud POS combines checkout with real-time analytics and inventory tracking. QR ordering lets customers order and pay at the table, while a handheld POS app gives staff another way to take orders and payments. Android kiosks add a self-service option. Item modifiers and integrated payments support customized orders and payment within the same operating setup.

Payment integrations include Stripe, Razorpay, PhonePe and Pine Labs; delivery connections include Zomato, Swiggy, UberEats and DoorDash. Tally Prime, QuickBooks, Xero and Zoho Books are also listed for accounting. Enterprise clients can build custom connectors through the open API architecture, a useful route for larger operations with integration needs beyond those named.

Kitchen and inventory

Front-of-house orders sync to kitchen monitors through the Kitchen Display System (KDS), linking order intake with preparation. The Owner App tracks stock down to ingredients, sends low-stock alerts and can generate purchase orders automatically. These tools make SelfX more than a checkout system, particularly for food businesses that need to coordinate kitchen work and replenishment.

SelfX says local terminals can keep taking orders during an internet outage and sync to the cloud once service returns. Its privacy policy describes SSL and AES-256 encryption, restricted access to personal information and PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance, with card data tokenized immediately. Support includes tickets, a knowledge base, phone help Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and WhatsApp. The company says onboarding guidance gets most restaurants set up within 24–48 hours.

Pricing

The Free Start Plan has no published price and includes one billing terminal with unlimited menu items. That is a narrow but practical starting point for a small operation that can work with a single checkout station; the terminal cap is the constraint to watch.

Smart Growth Plan costs ₹4,999.00 INR per month, billed monthly, and includes up to three POS terminals plus KDS. It fits a smaller restaurant that needs kitchen display support but does not require more checkout points. Pro Power Plan costs ₹12,999.00 INR per month, billed monthly, and removes the stated terminal and KDS-screen limits with unlimited POS terminals and KDS screens. That is the clearer fit for larger or busier operations, though the higher monthly price only makes sense if those extra capacities are useful.

Franchise & Hotel has custom pricing and includes a multi-store central hub with unlimited outlets, making it the tier aimed at organizations managing locations centrally. The free plan and Smart Growth give up the unlimited terminal and screen capacity included in Pro Power.

Platforms

SelfX supports Android, iOS, web, Windows and API. Kiosks are listed for Android, so businesses planning kiosk deployments should account for that platform boundary.

Who it's for

SelfX is aimed at restaurants, cafés, food courts, cloud kitchens and retail businesses, including multi-location chains. It is strongest for food-service operators combining counter or handheld sales, table ordering, kitchen screens and ingredient-level stock control. A business looking only for a basic single-terminal checkout may not need the wider operations package.

Pros and cons

Pros: POS, QR table ordering, handheld sales, kiosks, KDS and ingredient-level inventory cover connected front- and back-of-house workflows.
Pros: Offline order taking and later cloud sync help keep local terminals working through internet interruptions.
Pros: The Pro Power tier has unlimited POS terminals and KDS screens, while the enterprise API supports custom connectors.
Cons: Smart Growth is capped at three POS terminals and one KDS, which can limit a growing location.
Cons: Kiosk support is Android-only, narrowing device choice for self-service deployments.
Cons: Free Start is limited to one billing terminal, and its price is custom rather than stated.

Alternatives

Restaurant Self-Ordering Kiosk Software is a broader category guide for comparing kiosk tools. Choose OnePe Kiosk System if a lower-cost, menu-capped kiosk option is the priority: it has a free plan with 10 menu items and a ₹199.00 INR monthly Starter plan with 100 menu items and 100 orders per day. DineEngine Kiosk Ordering is a paid web- and iOS-based kiosk option.

Lightspeed Restaurant is worth considering when its Starter plan's customizable POS, menu manager, floor plans, Advanced Insights, offline mode and 24/7 support suit the operation; it costs $69.00 USD per month. MyKiosk is another paid option for web and Windows. Applova Self Ordering Kiosk is a paid Android alternative, while Bite is a paid web option.

CodeOrder Kiosk may suit a smaller online-ordering setup: its Starter plan costs $9.90 USD per month and covers one site, up to two locations, online orders, delivery zones, product add-ons and tipping. INFI ORDER offers a kiosk, online, loyalty, kitchen, website and marketing platform with custom pricing, making it an alternative for operators seeking that broader set of functions.

Verdict

SelfX is a strong fit for food businesses that want sales, ordering, kitchen coordination and inventory in one system, with offline order taking and room to scale terminal capacity. Choose it when those connected workflows matter; look elsewhere if Android-only kiosks, the Smart Growth terminal ceiling or the jump to Pro Power does not match the operation.
