Overview

Summify is a summarization and study tool for PDFs, PowerPoint files, YouTube videos, and articles. The workflow goes beyond a summary: users can make Learn cards and quizzes, while eligible plans add mind maps, audio lessons, and podcasts. That breadth makes it more useful for turning material into a study session than for readers who only want a quick digest.

The iPhone app accepts PDF, DOCX, TXT, MP3 and other audio, YouTube URLs, and web articles. YouTube summaries depend on an available caption track or transcript, so videos without one are not suitable inputs. Summify is in public beta, which may matter to readers choosing a more established workflow.

Key features

Summary-to-study workflow

Summaries can lead directly to Learn cards and quizzes, which gives students a way to check recall rather than stop at an overview. The card allowance varies by plan, from 12 per run on Free to 25 on Pro. Mind maps and spaced repetition are Pro features, so the fuller study workflow requires the more expensive individual plan.

Intelligence lenses and audio

The public beta includes four free core lenses, including Study; Contract and Exam Prep are paid-plan options. Scholar adds up to 10 audio lessons and five podcasts per day, while Pro removes those daily audio caps and adds mind maps. This makes Scholar a plausible step up for eligible students who need the additional lenses and a measured amount of audio, while Pro is for heavier use.

Privacy and processing

Summify extracts text on its servers and sends that text and prompts to configured third-party AI providers, including Groq and Google Gemini, to produce summaries, analysis, and Learn cards. Its privacy page says uploads are not sold, and server logs are used for reliability and security rather than advertising profiles. The home page states that uploads use TLS 1.3 and files are processed in memory only. Summify does not offer a marketed document library or long-term cloud storage product, and no compliance certification is stated.

Readers handling sensitive documents should weigh that provider processing before uploading. The product does not list other integrations, though API access is available.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	5 analyses/day, 12 Learn cards/run, quizzes, 4 core lenses, and up to 10 saved analyses
Scholar	4.99 USD per month (billed Monthly)	Requires an .edu school email; 10 analyses/day, 18 Learn cards/run, 10 audio lessons and 5 podcasts/day, Contract and Exam Prep lenses, and saved analyses without the Free cap
Pro	7.99 USD per month (billed Monthly)	Unlimited analyses (fair use), unlimited audio lessons and podcasts, 25 Learn cards/run, all lenses, mind maps, spaced repetition, and full workspace history
Team	24.99 USD per month (billed Monthly)	Everything in Pro, up to 5 seats, shared library, team workflows, and invoices

Free is useful for trying the workflow, but five daily analyses and a ten-analysis save cap limit sustained use. Scholar costs less than Pro but is restricted to people with an .edu school email, caps analyses and audio by day, and offers fewer cards per run. Pro is the stronger fit for frequent individual use; its unlimited analysis is subject to fair use. Team adds collaboration and billing support for up to five seats, rather than a larger individual quota.

Subscriptions use Polar checkout, can be canceled anytime, and can be managed from the account.

Platforms

Summify is available on iOS and the web. Its iPhone input support includes documents, audio, YouTube links, and web articles; webpage and transcript summarization are also supported.

Who it's for

Students who want summaries followed by quizzes or flashcards are the clearest fit, particularly those eligible for Scholar pricing. Executives, creators, and people reviewing contracts may also find the dedicated lenses useful. It is less suited to readers who need uncapped use on a free plan, long-term cloud document storage, or a workflow that avoids sending extracted content to third-party AI providers.

Pros and cons

Pros: Summaries connect to quizzes and Learn cards, supporting review rather than passive reading.
Pros: Inputs span documents, audio, YouTube, and web articles, with iPhone support for several file types.
Pros: The Free plan includes quizzes and four core lenses, so users can try the study workflow before paying.
Cons: Free is capped at five analyses a day and ten saved analyses, limiting regular use.
Cons: YouTube summaries require available captions or transcripts.
Cons: Extracted text and prompts go to configured AI providers, a consideration for sensitive content.
Cons: Scholar requires an .edu email, excluding users without one from its lower-priced paid tier.

Verdict

Choose Summify if you want a single tool to summarize varied material and turn it into quizzes, cards, or audio, especially as a student eligible for Scholar. Its strongest reason to choose it is that connected study workflow; its strongest reason to look elsewhere is the combination of strict free caps and server-side extraction shared with third-party AI providers.
