Overview

Playary is a free entertainment platform from Playary, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Türkiye. It supports Turkish and English and runs on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows and the web. Bringing audio and video together is convenient for people who switch between formats, though the two-language range may not suit everyone.

Key features

Listening, downloads and playlists

Users can download content for playback without mobile data, which is useful for travel or limited data plans. Downloads are not DRM-free, so Playary is a poor fit for anyone who wants portable files they can use outside the service. Unlimited playlists can be created, copied and shared, and users can browse other people's playlists. Explicit-content filters and blocking for artists, albums or songs give users some control over what they encounter.

Podcasts and video

Playary supports audio and video podcasts, with OPML import and export for podcast subscriptions. The import is limited to shows in Playary's catalog, so it may not reproduce a full subscription list from another app. The service may also embed videos hosted by third parties such as YouTube and Vimeo.

Creator tools, support and security

Separate platforms let artists and podcasters upload and manage content. Users can contact Playary by email, through its Discord community or via the website contact form. Playary says it encrypts sensitive personal data in transit with TLS and at rest, uses role-based access controls and multi-factor authentication, and conducts security assessments, penetration tests, vulnerability scans and internal audits.

Pricing

Playary says the service is completely free, with premium membership options potentially coming later. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes songs, podcasts, movies, audiobooks, TV shows, ad-free listening and downloads. That breadth makes it a compelling option for anyone seeking several media types without a subscription. A Premium plan is also described as covering songs, podcasts, movies, audiobooks, TV shows and ad-free listening, but it has custom pricing; no price or additional benefit over Free is established. The stated free service and plan terms could change if premium membership options are introduced.

Platforms

Playary is available on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows and the web, covering mobile, desktop and browser use. Its stated minimum age is 13 or the applicable digital-consent age, unless parental consent applies; younger users should check that requirement before signing up.

Who it's for

Choose Playary if you want one free service for several kinds of entertainment, especially when offline playback, shareable playlists and content controls matter. Look elsewhere if you need unrestricted downloaded files, broader stated language support or reliable import of every podcast subscription.

Pros and cons

Pro: The Free plan combines multiple media types, ad-free listening and downloads at 0.00 USD per free.
Pro: Unlimited playlists, sharing and explicit-content controls give listeners useful ways to organize and filter content.
Pro: OPML export and support for video podcasts serve users whose listening includes podcasts in more than one format.
Con: OPML imports include only podcasts in Playary's catalog, limiting how completely users can migrate subscriptions.
Con: Downloads are not DRM-free, so they do not provide files for unrestricted use elsewhere.
Con: Support is available through email, Discord or a contact form, rather than a stated direct in-app channel.

Alternatives

BorrowBox is a free option on Android, iOS and the web.
Kobo Books fits audiobook listeners who prefer a paid subscription: Kobo Plus Listen is 7.99 USD per month after a 14-day free trial, plus applicable taxes, and not every Kobo audio title is included.
Libro.fm is an audiobook membership with one credit per month, 30% off additional audiobooks and member-exclusive sales; its monthly price is custom pricing.
AudiobooksNow offers a 30-day free trial, then Monthly Club Pricing at 4.99 USD per month, with 50% off the first audiobook each month and 35–40% off other eligible titles.
Audiobookshelf is a free option available on the web, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android.

Verdict

Playary is a strong choice for listeners who want varied entertainment, offline playback and practical playlist controls in one free service. Its range is the main reason to choose it; catalog-limited OPML imports and non-DRM-free downloads are the clearest reasons to look elsewhere.
