Overview

Pika combines generation and editing across video, images, audio, speech, sound effects, music and soundtracks. That breadth makes it a stronger fit for creators who move between formats than for someone seeking only a focused video tool. It supports cloud and mobile deployment, with email, community and documentation support.

Key features

Text-to-video, image-to-video and AI avatars cover different starting points for making video, with output resolution up to 4K. Video Studio can generate clips up to 30 seconds, a useful limit for short ads and social assets but a constraint for longer sequences. Color grading, video extension, image editing, character and image studios, product shots and soundtrack tools extend the workflow beyond generation.

Pika lists models including Seedance 2.5, Pika 2.5, GPT Image 2.5, Grok Imagine 1.5 and MiniMax H3. API access and commercial use are supported, while enterprise customers can receive custom solutions and dedicated support. Top-up credits work only with Pika Create on pika.art, not through the API, MCP, iOS app or old.pika.art; that restriction matters if work is split across access points.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and has no monthly credits: it relies on credit packs. It includes all models, two video generations, two image and audio generations in parallel, and no watermark. The two-generation limit and lack of monthly credits make it suitable for a small trial, not a dependable ongoing workload. Free excludes commercial licensing, priority queue and early access to new models.

Starter costs 10.00 USD per month, or 8.00 USD per month billed annually, and includes 900 credits per month. Both versions provide two parallel video generations; Starter allows eight parallel image and audio generations. It is the entry paid option for modest, regular production, but the video concurrency remains at the free-plan level.

Creator costs 35.00 USD per month, or 28.00 USD per month billed annually, with 3,150 credits per month. It raises concurrency to eight parallel video generations and 32 parallel image and audio generations, making it a better fit for heavier work or simultaneous projects. Annual billing saves 20% compared with monthly pricing.

Fancy has custom pricing for 8,550 credits per month and up, with unlimited parallel generations; its annual option is 76.00 USD per month billed annually for 8,550 credits per month or more. It suits users who need more capacity than Creator and high concurrency. Enterprise has custom pricing and custom monthly credits, all models, unlimited parallel generations, a commercial license and dedicated support, aimed at studios and teams.

Monthly plan credits do not roll over, while purchased top-up credits expire after 365 days. Plans can be canceled anytime and remain active through the billing period, but payments are non-refundable. Those terms favor users who can estimate regular usage over those with uneven workloads or a need for refunds.

Platforms

Pika is available on web and iOS, and offers API access. Top-up credits cannot be used with the API or iOS app, so buyers relying on those channels should not treat packs as a way to extend their balance there.

Who it's for

Pika is a practical choice for ad creatives, editors, marketers and filmmakers producing short-form assets across video, image and audio. The free tier can support a small non-commercial evaluation; Starter and Creator serve more regular production at different credit and concurrency levels. Look elsewhere if your work needs clips longer than 30 seconds, consistent monthly free credits, or commercial licensing on the free plan.

Pros and cons

Pros: Video, image, audio and editing tools are combined, reducing the need to switch among separate creative workflows.
Pros: Output supports up to 4K, and paid plans scale from 900 to 3,150 monthly credits before the higher-capacity Fancy tier.
Pros: The free plan has no watermark and includes all models, which allows a limited non-commercial evaluation.
Cons: Free access has no monthly credits and is restricted to credit packs, with commercial licensing excluded.
Cons: Clips top out at 30 seconds, limiting use for longer-form video.
Cons: Monthly credits expire without rollover, top-ups expire after 365 days, and payments are non-refundable.

Alternatives

For a directory of related tools, browse AI video generators or AI Photo Animation Tools.

HeyGen is a freemium alternative with Android, iOS, web and API access; its free plan allows three videos per month up to one minute each, so consider it when that free video allowance and longer maximum clip are more important.
InVideo AI is a freemium web and extension option with a free plan that resets its weekly quota; consider it if a weekly-reset free allowance better matches your use.
Synthesia has web and API access; its free Basic plan includes 1,200 credits per month, up to 10 minutes of video per month and 25 AI-generated video assets, making it worth considering for those specific free monthly allowances.
AKOOL is another freemium option, with API, macOS, web and Windows platforms and a free trial.
FlexClip offers Android, iOS, web and Windows access; its free plan includes 12 online projects and limits each video to 10 minutes, an option to consider if that project-based allowance fits.
Runway has API access, a free plan with 125 one-time credits and 5 GB storage, and a Standard plan at 12.00 USD per month billed annually. Consider it if a one-time free credit allotment and storage are priorities.
Kling AI is a freemium API option whose free Basic plan provides 30 element creations and no monthly credits; it may suit users who want that type of free allowance.
LTX Studio provides web and API access, with 800 one-time credits on its free plan and a Lite plan at 15.00 USD per month; consider it if a one-time free credit balance is preferable to Pika's packs-only free access.

Verdict

Choose Pika if you create short assets across video, image and audio and value having generation and editing tools together, with paid plans offering higher credit allowances and concurrency. Its main trade-offs are the 30-second video ceiling, tightly limited free use and credits that do not roll over; creators needing longer videos or predictable free monthly credits should compare alternatives.
