Overview

Start with bitmap or vector artwork, or browse more than a million Unsplash photos inside Repper. The app turns a source into an adjustable, tileable pattern, with JPEG, PNG, and SVG/vector export. Its more than 30 geometric tilings range from rectangular grids and facade layouts to wallpaper symmetries and the Penrose Diamond, giving users alternatives to a standard repeat.

Repper has been online since 2008, and its maker says a desktop app followed in 2009. Designs can be recolored, treated with effects, and previewed on product mockups. Commercial use and sale are allowed without restrictions, and users retain rights to their creations after cancelling.

Key features

Pattern, color, and effects

More than 30 tilings, including Penrose and other symmetry-based repeats, give pattern makers room to explore structure from a single source image. Colorway tools and effects including duotone, black-and-white, gradients, halftone, and Metamorphosis broaden the visual treatment. This is useful for adapting a source into distinct pattern directions without changing the basic image-led workflow.

Product previews and exports

3D mockups cover t-shirts, dresses, pillows, scarves, notebooks, and fabric. They help users assess a repeat in product context, though the mockups should not be confused with a broader product-production workflow. Pro exports reach 35k × 35k pixels; JPEG, PNG, and SVG/vector formats support both raster and vector output. Mobile exports are simplified, making desktop the better fit when export control is central.

Commercial rights and support

Repper says users can use and sell their creations commercially without restrictions, including after cancelling. Support is provided by a real person, typically within a day, alongside a help centre and email support.

Pricing

Repper offers a free mobile plan and a 14-day trial. The free Repper Mobile plan costs 0.00 USD per free and has no stated recurring charge. Image upload is limited to the first two weeks, exports are simplified, and the app is separate from desktop. It is a way to try mobile pattern making, not a continuing substitute for the desktop membership.

Pro Monthly costs 12.99 USD per month, with taxes included. It includes an unlimited commercial license, bitmap and vector support, exports up to 35k × 35k pixels, 3D preview and export, unlimited collections, and auto-sync and backup. This suits regular users who need full-resolution output and account-backed desktop work without an annual commitment.

Pro Yearly offers 12 months for the price of 9, saving 25%, with the same stated Pro features. Choose it for a year-long commitment; its price is custom pricing. The cheaper mobile plan gives up desktop access and full export options, while Pro is the relevant tier for larger exports and synced collections.

Platforms

The desktop and tablet app runs in a browser without installation and supports automatic sync and backup to the user account. Repper Mobile runs in an iOS or Android phone browser, with no app-store download required. The two are separate applications: designs cannot currently be accessed across them. That makes Repper less suitable for anyone expecting to start a pattern on a phone and continue it on desktop.

The privacy policy says personal data is stored on Google Cloud in the European Union and identifies Firebase as a service host. The policy states it was last modified on 23 September 2019.

Who it's for

Repper is a strong fit for designers who already have source imagery and want varied geometric repeats, color treatments, product mockups, and commercial rights in one pattern-making app. Pro makes the clearest case for users who need large exports or desktop sync. It is a weaker choice for mobile-first workflows that depend on carrying designs between phone and desktop, or for users who need the full desktop export experience at no cost.

Pros and cons

Pro: More than 30 tilings and several effects create meaningful options for turning one image into different repeat designs.
Pro: Commercial use is unrestricted, and rights remain with the user after cancellation.
Pro: Pro combines vector and bitmap support, high-resolution exports, mockups, and unlimited collections.
Con: Mobile and desktop designs do not sync across the separate apps, limiting cross-device continuity.
Con: The free mobile plan restricts image uploads to the first two weeks and simplifies exports.

Alternatives

Choose JUMI PatternMaker if a free web tool with no sign-up, no watermark, and SVG and PNG exports up to 8000px is enough; it permits personal and commercial use. Loocie Design is another free option for desktop, tablet, and phone, but its beta tools may change and files auto-delete after a short time.

Raspberry AI Prints & Patterns is worth comparing if a credit-based option suits the work: its free plan gives 50 one-time credits without a card, while Individual costs 49.00 USD per month for 120 credits per month and 7-day history. Texloom Studio offers a free tier with 100 starting credits and 27 tool pages free without signup. For other options, compare Seamlessify, Tiler, or KXStitch; ArahWeave has a demo that cannot save projects.

Verdict

Choose Repper if image-based pattern development, flexible tilings, product mockups, and commercial rights matter more than a continuous mobile-to-desktop workflow. Pro is the practical choice for large exports and full desktop features; look elsewhere if you need mobile and desktop designs to stay together or want ongoing full-featured access at no charge.
