Overview

Obligant is a cloud contract tool that turns agreements into a working list of obligations and dates. It is a strong fit for teams that need shared follow-up across a modest contract portfolio; the fixed contract caps make it less suitable for larger libraries unless they move to custom pricing.

Its combination of extraction, reminders, Q&A and unlimited users on every published plan is useful, but AI output needs human verification before teams rely on it.

Key features

Obligant accepts PDF, DOC and DOCX files, including scanned contracts handled with OCR. Its AI identifies parties, obligations and dates, attaches confidence indicators, and lets users edit and confirm what they want to track. That review step is essential: the service warns that analysis can contain errors or omissions, and it does not provide legal advice.

The Action Center groups overdue, upcoming and next-due obligations across contracts. Filters by contract, due date and responsible party help users focus the queue, while configurable email reminders let teams choose recipients and timing. Timezone-aware notifications are a practical plus for teams working across regions, though reminders depend on accurate dates and ownership.

Contract Q&A answers questions in plain English and supplies supporting references, making it easier to locate relevant terms without replacing a read of the agreement. Admin and Member roles, access controls by business unit and location, and an audit trail of key user actions provide useful team oversight.

Obligant says Claude, from Anthropic, powers contract analysis and Q&A. It describes organisation data as logically isolated, uses role-based access controls and industry-standard security measures, and says uploaded content is not used to train AI models. Content is processed to operate and secure the service, support users and develop features. Its privacy policy commits to protecting personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 GBP per free, is free forever, and allows 3 contracts with unlimited users and all features. It is a sensible way for a small team to try the full workflow, but the three-contract ceiling is restrictive for ongoing use beyond a handful of agreements.

Starter costs 9.99 GBP per month for 10 contracts; Growth is 19.99 GBP per month for 25; Scale is 29.99 GBP per month for 50; and Business is 79.99 GBP per month for 150. Each includes unlimited users and all features, so the choice among them is driven by portfolio size rather than access to particular capabilities. The paid tiers scale the contract allowance, but even Business has a firm cap. Custom pricing applies above 150 contracts.

Platforms

Obligant is a cloud service accessed on the web. Its plans allow unlimited users, which avoids a per-seat limit, but access still depends on a web connection.

Who it's for

Obligant suits teams that want obligations and dates extracted from contracts and then assigned into a shared follow-up process. Smaller teams can start on Free, while growing portfolios can pay for higher caps without giving up features or adding seat charges. Organisations with more than 150 contracts should weigh the custom tier against tools with a better fit for their procurement or deployment needs.

Pros and cons

Pros: OCR plus PDF, DOC and DOCX support accommodates scanned and digital contracts.
Pros: Confidence indicators and editable extraction let users review what will be tracked rather than accepting AI results as final.
Pros: Unlimited users across plans, with role controls and an audit trail, supports team use without seat-based pricing.
Cons: Every fixed plan caps contract volume, including Business at 150; larger portfolios require custom pricing.
Cons: AI may make mistakes or omit information, so verification remains necessary and the product is not legal advice.
Cons: It is web-only, which may rule it out for teams requiring another listed platform.

Alternatives

Legartis is worth considering for a team seeking a free NDA review option: its free plan has one seat and two NDA reviews per month, with an NDA Best Practice Playbook and German, English and French support. Its listed platform range also includes API, macOS and Windows.

Legistry AI offers a free allowance of up to three users, five contracts and ten AI calls per month, plus OTP e-signatures and 1 GB of storage. Consider it if those caps and signing capability suit your workflow; Professional costs 49.00 USD per month.

PactSeal has an Explorer free plan for one user, up to 10 contracts and 10 extractions. Its Core plan is 150.00 EUR per month, billed at €150 per user per month with a €750 minimum, so Obligant is the clearer fit for teams prioritising unlimited users and lower entry prices.

Qeluntra is another freemium option, with a free plan for one entity and one power user; its Starter and Business plans expand to three and eight power users respectively.

Verian Contracts is licensed per project and scoped to the portfolio and capabilities used, making it an alternative for project-based licensing.

DocJuris uses an annual platform fee sized to contract volume and enabled apps, with unlimited users and 25 or more standard apps, agents and enterprise integrations included. It may suit buyers who prefer that platform-fee structure to Obligant's contract-count tiers.

eBrevia is a paid option with custom quotes and a personalized demo.

Obly uses custom pricing based on contract volume and includes free, unlimited teammate seats, another option for teams comparing volume-based pricing.

Verdict

Choose Obligant if your team wants AI-assisted obligation tracking, reminders and contract Q&A without per-user fees, and its contract ceiling matches your portfolio. Its strongest case is a shared workflow with useful review controls; look elsewhere if you need a non-web platform, cannot accommodate AI verification, or expect to exceed 150 contracts without custom pricing.
