Overview

NotaryCentral is a remote-online-notarization service paired with tools for running a notary business. It is a strong fit for independent notaries and teams who want journaling, client booking and business reporting together. Its main compromise is the split between limited free signings and ongoing tool or transaction charges.

Key features

The e-Journal supports searchable records with signatures, thumbprints and ID numbers, plus PDF or full-data exports. A saved entry receives a tamper-evident hash that will no longer match if the entry is later edited. That gives users a way to detect changes, while offline entry creation—including when signed out—helps keep field work moving; entries still need to sync after connectivity returns.

Year-end accounting reports cover profit and loss, mileage, expenses and 1099/payment activity, and can be downloaded as CSV or PDF. This is useful for notaries who want business records alongside their signing workflow. Booking links can expose availability, service fees and add-ons, collect signer intake details and document uploads, and optionally take payment upfront. Stripe and Square can be configured for booking payments; Square is also an optional card-payment integration in accounting. Google Calendar and Google Maps can be connected.

NotaryCentral supports audio-video sessions, electronic notarization, identity verification and storage of notarized records. Its compliance guidance includes AI answers drawn from state notary handbooks with citations, as well as reminders for notaries who still need a paper journal. On security, the company says transmissions use SSL/TLS and sensitive account information is encrypted and access-controlled in storage. It also says it does not sell customer data, customer lists or notarization records. Its Extract from ID feature processes extracted text temporarily and does not retain the original ID image on its servers.

Pricing

Business Suite Free and e-Journal Free each cost 0.00 USD per free, include the first 15 RON signings, require no credit card and include email support. Those are useful starting points, but the shared 15-signing allowance makes them trial-sized rather than a durable option for regular RON work.

For individual transactions, RON credits without ID verification cost 1.50 USD per once, billed pay-as-you-go at one credit per notarization. Credits with ID verification and biometrics cost 3.00 USD per once, billed pay-as-you-go at two credits per notarization. The latter offers verification and biometrics, but costs twice as much per transaction.

e-Journal Plus (Yearly) costs 19.92 USD per year, billed annually at the equivalent of $1.66/month. It adds unlimited entries and mobile app access, with email support. It suits notaries whose priority is a continuing journal rather than broader appointment management.

Business Tools (Yearly) costs 120.00 USD per year, billed annually at the equivalent of $10.00/month. It includes unlimited appointments and priority support, making it the clearest fit for regular booking needs. The free tiers have email support, while this plan upgrades support priority; RON credits remain a separate per-notarization charge.

Platforms

NotaryCentral supports Android, iOS, web, an extension and an API. Mobile app and mobile web support make its journal and booking tools accessible away from a desktop.

Who it's for

Independent notaries who want journal, scheduling, payments and accounting in one service should find the broad workflow appealing. Teams may also benefit from the business tools and appointment capacity. It is less suitable for someone expecting unlimited free notarizations or a single subscription that absorbs transaction costs: free RON use stops after 15 signings, and credits are priced separately.

Pros and cons

Pros: Offline journal entry creation and tamper-evident hashes address two distinct recordkeeping needs: continuity without internet and a signal when a saved entry has changed.
Pros: Booking intake, document uploads, configurable payment providers and year-end reporting bring client intake and business administration into the same service as notarization.
Cons: Free access is limited to the first 15 RON signings, so ongoing notarization work requires per-use credits.
Cons: ID verification with biometrics costs 3.00 USD per once, compared with 1.50 USD per once without verification; frequent users should account for that difference.

Verdict

NotaryCentral is a good choice for independent notaries and teams that value an integrated journal, booking and business-management workflow, especially if offline journaling matters. Start with its free tier if 15 RON signings are enough to assess the service, then match the annual tools or credit charges to the work you expect. Look elsewhere if you need a larger free signing allowance or want to avoid separate per-notarization costs.
