Overview

Musigation is a browser-based tool for creating original music from written prompts and refining the result. It is best for people who want to direct a composition rather than choose from a catalogue. Its appeal is that revisions and downloadable stems are built into the workflow; the trade-off is that generation time is tightly budgeted by credits.

Key features

Prompts can set mood, genre, instruments and tempo, and follow-up requests can adjust qualities such as warmth, key or outro length. This makes Musigation more useful for shaping a specific idea than a single-pass generator, but each minute generated consumes a credit, so extensive iteration can quickly use a monthly allowance.

Users can download final mixes or stems. Free is limited to MP3; Starter adds WAV and stem separation, while Pro and Studio add FLAC and Opus as well. Those options make paid plans more suitable for creators who need separate parts or broader format support. Adaptive generation and nature sound layers are also offered.

One credit equals one minute of generated audio. Subscription credits expire at the end of each billing cycle, while purchased credit-pack credits do not. Music and project data are retained while the account is active. Musigation says data is encrypted in transit using TLS and stored on servers provided by Convex and Clerk; Stripe processes payments, and the company says it does not store card details. Its privacy policy names ElevenLabs as the music-generation provider.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 1 credit per month, MP3 output, composition planning, and lyric and style editing. That is enough for a brief personal trial, not sustained creation: free-plan music is restricted to personal, non-commercial use.

Starter costs 10.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 15 credits, MP3 and WAV, stem separation, composition planning and commercial rights. It is the practical entry point for occasional commercial projects, though its allowance is only 15 minutes of generated audio per month.

Pro costs 24.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and raises the allowance to 45 credits. It adds FLAC and Opus, stem separation, commercial rights and priority support. This is a better fit for regular work that needs more generation time or format choices, but credits still expire monthly.

Studio costs 79.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 175 credits, the same four output formats, stem separation, commercial rights, priority support and early access to new features. Its larger allowance suits heavier use; occasional creators are unlikely to need the extra capacity.

The Credit Pack costs 10.00 USD per month on a pay-as-you-go basis and provides 10 credits that never expire. It avoids the monthly expiration of subscription credits, but offers less capacity than Starter and the plan details do not include commercial rights. Free is the only no-cost option; paid subscriptions grant commercial rights starting with Starter.

Who it's for

Choose Musigation if you want to generate and revise original music from text, especially when downloadable stems or commercial rights matter. It is less suitable for people who need a large monthly volume on a small budget, since credit limits constrain revisions as well as initial generation.

Pros and cons

Pros: Text prompts cover several musical dimensions, and revisions let users reshape a track after generation.
Pros: Stem downloads and multiple output formats on paid tiers support further audio work.
Pros: Purchased credit-pack credits do not expire, unlike subscription credits.
Cons: Free provides only one minute of generation monthly and prohibits commercial use.
Cons: Subscription credits expire each billing cycle, limiting the value of unused allowance.
Cons: FLAC and Opus require Pro or Studio, and the largest monthly allowance costs 79.00 USD per month.

For guided or focused listening rather than prompt-based composition, browse Meditation apps. Easy-Peasy.AI Meditation Music Generator is another freemium option with iOS and web access. Somaphi offers five free modes without an account or subscription, and has iOS and macOS apps. GetSound.ai has a free tier with daily usage limits and limited environments and locations. Nirvael is a free browser-based generative ambient sound environment. Mubert is a freemium alternative with web, iOS and Android apps. MaTorii offers a free web plan with five monthly audio sessions, including three guided sessions. Incraft is a freemium web option. Aimi offers a free studio plan covering recording, editing, mixing, uploading, exporting, publishing and remixing.

Verdict

Musigation is a strong fit for creators who want to steer original music with text, revise the result and take away stems or mixes. Its paid plans add commercial rights, but the monthly credit ceilings and expiration terms make it a poor choice for high-volume generation on a tight budget.
