Overview

Mem’s strength is linking note storage to ways of finding and using what is saved. Mem Chat can answer questions across a workspace, draft content, and create, update, or organize notes in context. Deep Search accepts a plain-language description instead of requiring an exact keyword, a practical advantage when the idea is remembered better than its wording.

Voice Mode records and transcribes meetings or spoken thoughts, then turns them into structured notes. Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook connections show only meetings with at least two guests, so Mem is not a full calendar view. The Chrome extension captures and summarizes webpages and YouTube videos, groups clips into collections, and supports note editing from its popup. That makes it useful for research in Chrome, but not for people who need a browser-independent clipper.

Key features

Workspace chat and search: Ask questions about saved material, draft with workspace context, or have Mem organize and update notes. This is most useful when a workspace has accumulated enough material to make retrieval and reuse important.
Voice capture: Record and transcribe meetings or spoken thoughts into structured notes. The monthly Voice Mode allowance ranges from 3 hours on free and entry plans to 500 hours on Mem Pro 20×, so frequent recorders should compare the quota with their expected use.
Web clipping: Capture and summarize webpages and YouTube videos, collect clips, and edit notes through the Chrome extension. Chrome-only availability is a real constraint for users whose research happens in another browser.
Claude connection: Search Mem knowledge, save Claude conversations as notes, update documents, and organize a workspace from Claude. This extends the workspace into Claude without making Mem a general-purpose calendar or email manager.
Privacy and portability: Mem says content is encrypted in transit and at rest, and that it does not sell user data, show third-party ads, or use personal information or notes to train generalized AI or machine-learning models. It is SOC 2 Type II compliant. However, content is unencrypted for AI processing by trusted third-party vendors, a material consideration for sensitive notes. One-click Markdown exports of notes and collections provide a straightforward way to take saved material elsewhere.

Pricing

Mem is freemium, with paid plans starting at 9.00 USD per month. Monthly activity allowances reset each billing period; limits cover messages to Mem, new notes, actively tracked notes, open tasks and projects, and, on higher tiers, routines and connections. The free allowance is useful for a modest trial of the workflow, but it is not an unlimited workspace.

Plan	Price	Monthly allowances and fit
Mem Free	0.00 USD per free	25 messages, 25 new notes, tracking for 25 notes, 15 open tasks and projects, and 3 Voice Mode hours. A sensible starting point for occasional use, but modest for sustained capture or frequent AI requests.
Mem Plus	9.00 USD per month	50 messages, 50 new notes, tracking for 50 notes, 25 open tasks and projects, and 10 Voice Mode hours. It doubles the core free allowances, but has no custom routines or connections in its listed plan features.
Mem Pro	29.00 USD per month	100 messages and new notes, tracking for 100 notes, 50 open tasks and projects, 25 Voice Mode hours, one custom routine, and one connection. A better fit for users who need automation and a connection, though the quotas remain finite.
Mem Pro 2×	49.00 USD per month	200 messages and new notes, tracking for 200 notes, 100 open tasks and projects, 50 Voice Mode hours, two routines, and two connections.
Mem Pro 5×	99.00 USD per month	500 messages and new notes, tracking for 500 notes, 250 open tasks and projects, 125 Voice Mode hours, five routines, and five connections.
Mem Pro 10×	149.00 USD per month	1,000 messages and new notes, tracking for 1,000 notes, 500 open tasks and projects, 250 Voice Mode hours, 10 routines, and 10 connections.
Mem Pro 20×	199.00 USD per month	2,000 messages and new notes, tracking for 2,000 notes, 1,000 open tasks and projects, 500 Voice Mode hours, 20 routines, and 20 connections. This is aimed at substantially heavier activity, not a casual notes habit.
Extra Usage	50.00 USD per month	For Mem Pro 20×: adds 500 messages and notes, tracking across 500 active notes, 250 open tasks and projects, five routines and connections, and 125 Voice Mode hours. It is an add-on rather than a standalone plan.

The Mem plan has no published price and includes 25 messages, 25 new notes per month, tracking for 25 notes, 15 open tasks and projects, and 3 Voice Mode hours. The free plan carries those same core allowances at no charge. For a small step up, Plus doubles them; the jump to Pro costs more but adds routines and a connection. The larger Pro tiers scale quotas and those extras together, so they make sense only when the workload justifies them.

Platforms

Mem is available on web, iOS, macOS, and Windows, with an extension for Chrome. Mobile apps broaden capture beyond desktop, while the browser extension’s Chrome-only support may disrupt workflows built around another browser.

Who it's for

Mem is a strong fit for people who collect research, meeting notes, and passing ideas and want to query or reuse them later. It also suits users who value voice capture, workspace-aware AI, or a Claude connection. It is a weaker choice for someone seeking unlimited activity, complete calendar management, email management, or a clipper for a non-Chrome browser.

Pros and cons

Pro: Chat and natural-language Deep Search make saved notes actionable, including when the user cannot recall exact search terms.
Pro: Voice capture, web clipping, calendar connections, and Claude integration cover several ways of bringing material into and working with a workspace.
Pro: Markdown export offers a portable route for notes and collections, and Mem says it does not sell user data or train generalized models on personal information or notes.
Con: Monthly message, note, tracking, task, and voice limits can constrain consistent use; higher allowances require substantially more expensive plans.
Con: AI processing involves trusted third-party vendors and content is unencrypted during that processing, which may not suit highly sensitive material.
Con: The extension works only in Chrome, and calendar integrations omit meetings with fewer than two guests.

Alternatives

Choose Any.do instead if the priority is unlimited personal tasks and lists on a free plan, rather than AI search across a knowledge workspace. Routine is an alternative to consider for a broader platform range and a free plan with three integrations, three custom databases, and 250 AI credits. For a multi-user agent setup, Taskade AI Agents offers a free tier with two users, up to three apps, one AI agent, and 6,000 one-time credits. Microsoft Copilot is another free AI option, with access subject to capacity and usage limits. Spike is worth considering for teamspace and storage needs: its free Starter plan allows three members, one teamspace, 60 days of search history, and 15 GB storage per member. Superhuman Go is an alternative for inline suggestions, chatting with tabs and apps, and synced conversations. Toki is another option to compare for calendar scheduling. Gemini offers a free app with image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas, and Gems.

Verdict

Mem Agent is a good choice for people who want one workspace to capture varied material and then search, shape, and reuse it with AI. Its most compelling reason to choose it is the combination of natural-language retrieval, voice capture, and workspace-aware tools; its clearest reasons to look elsewhere are finite monthly quotas, Chrome-only clipping, and third-party AI processing. Start with free for occasional use, and move to a paid tier only when its higher activity limits or added routines and connections match a real workload.
