Overview

Lucida pairs spoken conversations with an AI tutor, Lucy, and gives learners feedback in their native language. Role-play covers meetings, presentations, job interviews and small talk, while sessions adapt to the learner’s level, goals and interests. That focus makes it a practical choice for rehearsing spoken exchanges, but less suited to anyone looking for offline practice.

Speaking scores aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) are tracked across sessions. This gives learners a consistent progress measure, though the app’s stated focus is speaking rather than a full range of language skills.

Key features

Conversation with live feedback

Lucy provides feedback on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, pace and filler words as learners speak. The breadth is useful for people who want to work on more than accent or pronunciation alone. Role-play scenarios give practice a concrete purpose, from workplace conversations to casual small talk.

Adapted sessions and progress tracking

Sessions adjust to a learner’s level, goals and interests, and CEFR-aligned speaking scores carry progress across sessions. Together, these features suit learners who want practice tailored to them and a way to follow speaking development over time.

Business training and safeguards

Lucida for Business is built for employee language training. Managers get team dashboards, CEFR distributions and per-employee assessments, making the business offering more relevant to organizations that need to follow participation and performance across a team than to individual learners.

Lucida says it uses a closed language model, end-to-end encryption and optional on-premises hosting, which can keep recordings within a company network. Lucida AI Teknoloji AŞ identifies itself as the data controller under GDPR and Turkey’s KVKK law. Privacy and data questions can be sent to support@getlucida.com.

Pricing

The Free download plan costs 0.00 USD per free. Some features require a subscription, with the price shown in the app before payment.

Lucida for Business has custom pricing based on team size and deployment. It includes team dashboards, CEFR distribution and per-employee assessments, so it is aimed at organizations rather than individuals. No seat quota or billing term is stated.

Platforms

Lucida is available on Android and iOS through Google Play and the App Store. Sessions require a phone, microphone and internet connection, so it is not a fit for offline practice or situations without reliable connectivity. The app has passed 33 million downloads.

Who it's for

Lucida is a strong fit for mobile learners who want to practise speaking in six supported languages, receive feedback in their native language and track CEFR-aligned speaking progress. Its workplace scenarios also suit people preparing for meetings, presentations or interviews. Businesses seeking employee language training may prefer Lucida for Business for its manager dashboards and assessments.

It is less appropriate for learners who need offline access, or who want a general study tool beyond speaking practice.
