Overview

PixelMod covers practical image-editing tasks without requiring separate tools for each one. Its batch workflow applies settings to multiple images and exports the results as a ZIP, which is useful for repeated jobs such as resizing a group of files. Layers Beta separates a subject from its background into editable layers, but its beta status makes it a secondary attraction rather than a firm reason to choose PixelMod.

The desktop apps for macOS and Windows process images locally and can work offline after sign-in. Web uploads are encrypted in transit, processed temporarily and deleted automatically afterward. PixelMod says submitted images are not used to train AI models. Its privacy policy describes access controls, least-privilege practices, credential protection and service monitoring. Service providers include Google for sign-in, Supabase for authentication and account data, Modal for web and API image processing, Lemon Squeezy for payments, and Hostinger for hosting.

Key features

Image editing: Background removal, upscaling, optimization, resizing and watermarking are brought together in one editor. That breadth is convenient for common jobs, though the stated resizing method is dimensions rather than a wider set of named methods.
Batch work: Apply settings across images and download the results in a ZIP. This is more suited to repeatable groups of files than one-off edits.
Formats and controls: Inputs include PNG, JPG/JPEG and WEBP; outputs include PNG and JPEG. Quality controls are supported, while the Free plan is limited to the Standard model.
Layers Beta: Subject separation into editable layers could help with more involved edits, but the feature is still in beta.

Pricing

PixelMod is freemium, with no free trial. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and allows 5 web downloads per month, unlimited desktop downloads, a 0.5 MP maximum and the Standard model. That is enough to explore desktop processing, but the resolution cap and model make it a poor fit for larger or highest-quality output.

Starter costs 7.00 USD per month and includes 100 web downloads per month, unlimited desktop downloads, a 16 MP maximum and Maximum Quality. It suits regular individual use that needs higher resolution without the Pro web quota. Pro costs 14.00 USD per month, raising the web allowance to 1,000 downloads and the maximum to 25 MP while retaining unlimited desktop downloads and Maximum Quality; it is the better fit for heavier web-based throughput.

Prices are in USD, with applicable taxes shown at checkout. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled through the customer portal, so subscribers need to cancel there to stop renewal.

Platforms

PixelMod is available on the web, macOS and Windows. Desktop requirements are macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon or Intel, and Windows 10/11 64-bit. Local desktop processing and offline use after sign-in are advantages for users who prefer not to upload files for processing; the web plan quotas matter more to users relying on browser downloads.

Who it's for

PixelMod makes sense for people who combine several routine image tasks and want batch ZIP export, particularly those who can use the desktop apps and their unlimited downloads. The free plan is a low-commitment way to try the workflow, but its 0.5 MP ceiling rules it out for higher-resolution work. Choose a paid plan if Maximum Quality or higher resolution matters, and compare the monthly web quota with your expected volume.

Pros and cons

Pro: Multiple common edits and batch ZIP export share one workflow, which can simplify recurring image jobs.
Pro: Desktop processing is local, supports offline work after sign-in, and has unlimited downloads on every plan.
Pro: Web handling includes encryption in transit and automatic deletion after processing; PixelMod also says submitted images are not used to train AI models.
Con: Free processing is capped at 0.5 MP and uses the Standard model, limiting its usefulness for larger images or Maximum Quality.
Con: Paid plans are recurring subscriptions that renew automatically until cancelled.
Con: Layers is in beta, so it is not the strongest basis for choosing the editor.

Verdict

Choose PixelMod if you want several common image edits, batch ZIP exports and local desktop processing in one tool. Its strongest case is the combination of broad everyday tasks and unlimited desktop downloads; look elsewhere if the free 0.5 MP cap is too restrictive, you need another platform, or you do not want a subscription for higher quality and resolution.
