Overview

Legion Workforce Management is an AI-assisted platform for planning labor and coordinating hourly work across locations. It is best suited to large operators that need scheduling to account for demand, local labor rules, and employee preferences. Its breadth is useful for complex operations, but custom pricing and a demo-led sales process are barriers for buyers who want to assess cost independently.

Key features

Legion forecasts staffing demand across locations using historical data, weather, and local events, then builds schedules around demand, budgets, labor rules, availability, and employee preferences. That connection can help large organizations align staffing plans with local conditions rather than treating each site as an isolated schedule. Smaller teams with predictable shifts may find less value in a platform designed for large-scale operations.

Schedule optimization sits alongside time and attendance tools, including schedule-matched punches, automated timecard approvals, and payroll close workflows. These capabilities can connect shift planning with the administrative work that follows it. Employees can use the mobile app to check availability, request time off, set schedule preferences, swap shifts, and take open shifts. Bringing these tasks into one employee experience supports flexibility, though the full platform’s scope may be more than a business seeking only basic shift planning needs.

The platform also includes Platform Services, Labor Planning, and an Employee Engagement Suite that brings work, pay, and communication into a mobile experience. Legion says it integrates with HCM providers such as SAP and Workday, as well as task management providers and POS systems. Its Workday integration covers Core HCM, accruals, time tracking, and bespoke integrations. This makes Legion more relevant to organizations fitting workforce tools into an existing technology stack than to buyers looking for a standalone scheduler with minimal integration needs.

Legion states that it uses end-to-end encryption, SSO with two-factor authentication, and OAuth. Its Trust Center lists GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 1 Type 2, SOC 2 Type 2, and SOC 3 materials; access to some security documents requires a request. Legion offers implementation, onsite and virtual training, customer-success account management, and a 24×7 online support portal, a service model that better suits organizations planning a substantial deployment than buyers expecting a self-serve setup.

Pricing

Legion is paid, with custom pricing. The product site directs prospective customers to schedule a demo and does not state a product price or trial duration. Buyers should expect to engage with Legion before they can judge whether its connected planning, scheduling, and employee tools fit their budget; it is not a practical choice for teams that need published rates or a defined trial before starting an evaluation.

Platforms

Legion supports web, Android, iOS, and API access. Mobile apps are especially relevant to hourly employees handling availability, leave, and shift changes, while API access supports integration into broader operations.

Who it's for

Legion describes its scheduling product for large-scale organizations operating across locations, countries, languages, and local labor laws. Its stated industries include retail, restaurants, facilities management, grocery, healthcare, hospitality, and health and fitness. It is strongest for organizations managing distributed hourly work; a small business with a single location and simple staffing rules is unlikely to need the same breadth.

Pros and cons

Connected demand planning and scheduling: forecasts incorporate historical data, weather, and local events, while schedules also account for budgets, rules, and employee preferences.
Useful employee self-service: mobile shift swaps, open shifts, availability, time-off requests, and preferences give hourly staff several ways to manage their schedules.
Support for complex deployments: implementation, training, account management, and a 24×7 online support portal suit organizations rolling out workforce processes across many sites.
Cost is hard to screen early: custom pricing and a demo-led process leave buyers without a published price or stated trial duration for initial comparisons.
Broad scope may be unnecessary: teams with straightforward scheduling needs may not benefit from Legion’s wider labor planning and workforce operations capabilities.

Alternatives

For buyers comparing by category, Forecasting Software and Prescriptive Analytics Software are relevant lists for exploring those broader needs. Organizations focused on restaurant shift coverage can compare options in Restaurant Scheduling Software, while Workforce Management Software and Employee Scheduling Software cover the wider workforce and scheduling categories. Health and fitness operators can also browse Gym Staff Scheduling Software.

WorkForce Software Labor Forecasting is a paid alternative on Android, iOS, web, and API platforms; consider it when comparing workforce forecasting options. Logility DemandAI+ is another paid, web-based option whose product page invites buyers to request a walkthrough. C3 AI Demand Planning is paid and supports API, self-hosted, and web deployments; its product page invites buyers to request a demo.

Aviso Sales Engagement offers a custom proposal, white-glove onboarding and implementation, and free migration, so it may suit buyers seeking that sales-engagement package rather than workforce scheduling. Cube, RELEX Solutions, Vena, and Workday Adaptive Planning are other paid alternatives to consider when comparing planning and workforce-related software.

Verdict

Legion Workforce Management is a strong fit for large, multi-location organizations that need forecasting, scheduling, time processes, and employee self-service connected in one platform. Its main reason to choose it is the way demand forecasts and workforce constraints feed into schedules, with mobile tools for employees alongside. Look elsewhere if your operation is small or simple, or if you need a published price and a trial to evaluate cost before speaking with sales.
