Overview

HyNote is a note-making app that turns meetings and a wide range of other material into searchable notes, then helps shape those notes into meeting records, study aids, or publishable content. It suits people who want one workflow spanning capture and follow-up; it is less compelling for anyone who needs reliable offline use or sessions longer than two hours.

Its breadth is the draw: transcription, summaries, study tools, publishing outputs, and calendar features sit together. The trade-off is that even the top plan caps each recording at 120 minutes, while mobile recording and processing depend on an internet connection.

Key features

Capture and meeting workflow

HyNote accepts eight input types, including audio, PDFs, videos, images, websites, and text, and can make the resulting notes searchable. Transcription supports more than 50 languages, speaker identification, and live translation. Generated outputs include summaries, key points, action items, and meeting notes, with more than 30 professional templates to structure them. This range can reduce the effort of turning raw material into usable records, though the 120-minute per-session ceiling matters for long interviews, lectures, and meetings.

Google Calendar sync can show upcoming events and send reminders. From its Calendar page, users can join Google Meet and start recording. Google Docs and Notion exports provide routes for taking notes elsewhere, while a CRM integration is reserved for Unlimited.

Study and publishing

HyNote can turn captured material into flashcards, quizzes, and study plans, and can produce blog posts, podcasts, slides, and infographics. That makes it broader than a meeting-only note tool for educators, researchers, and creators who want to reuse source material. These added workflows are less relevant if the main need is simply a lightweight meeting transcript.

Security and access

HyNote says its data is hosted on Google Cloud Platform, encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2 or later, and that customer content is not used to train its models. It describes uploaded audio, recordings, documents, images, and screenshots as end-to-end encrypted across devices and accessible only to the user. These are meaningful privacy assurances, but they do not change the product's cloud dependence: mobile recording, transcription, summarization, and sync require an active internet connection. Mac supports local recording and on-device transcription on supported configurations, and requires macOS 14 or later.

Pricing

HyNote has a free plan and paid plans that auto-renew annually. The monthly figures below are the stated equivalents; annual charges are shown because they are the actual renewal terms.

Free — 0.00 USD, free forever: Includes audio recording and transcription, professional templates, file uploads, sync across web, mobile, and tablet, calendar integration, and private secured storage. The per-session limit is 120 minutes. This is a reasonable starting point for occasional use, but it does not state a monthly transcription-minute allowance.
Pro — 6.66 USD per month, auto-renews annually at $79.99/year: Includes 1,200 transcription minutes per month and 300 one-time credits. It is the lowest-cost paid choice for users whose needs fit that monthly quota.
Plus — 10.83 USD per month, auto-renews annually at $129.99/year: Includes 1,200 real-time transcription minutes per month and 400 one-time credits. It offers the same stated monthly minute allowance as Pro, but specifically identifies those minutes as real-time.
Unlimited — 15.83 USD per month, auto-renews annually at $189.99/year: Includes unlimited real-time transcription, 600 one-time credits, and the CRM integration. The session cap remains 120 minutes, so “unlimited” does not mean unlimited-length recordings.
Teams — 15.00 USD per month per seat, auto-renews annually at $180 per seat per year: Requires at least two seats and includes priority support. The minimum commitment is therefore two seats; this plan is the fit for teams that need the stated support benefit rather than an individual looking for a low entry price.

A 7-day trial is offered. Since paid plans renew annually, the displayed monthly rates should not be mistaken for monthly billing.

Platforms

HyNote supports web, macOS, iOS, Android, and a Chrome extension. The mobile app has no offline access and requires an internet connection for its cloud-based workflow. Mac requires macOS 14 or later; local recording and on-device transcription are described for supported configurations.

Who it's for

HyNote is a strong fit for professionals, operations and engineering workers, researchers, educators, public-service users, and content creators who want to capture varied material and reuse it in structured notes or other formats. The free plan can suit occasional use, while Pro or Plus fit regular transcription within a fixed monthly allowance. Unlimited is more suitable when real-time transcription demand exceeds that allowance, provided sessions can stay within two hours. Offline-first users and people with routinely longer recordings should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Eight input types, multilingual transcription, speaker identification, and live translation cover a broad range of capture situations.
Pro: Notes can become meeting outputs, study materials, and several publishing formats, reducing the need to move among separate workflows.
Pro: Calendar sync supports reminders and starting Google Meet recordings from the Calendar page.
Con: Every plan, including Unlimited, has a 120-minute maximum per recording session.
Con: Mobile use depends on internet access, and offline access is not supported.
Con: Pro and Plus renew annually, and Teams starts at two seats, so the listed monthly equivalents do not represent flexible month-to-month billing.

Alternatives

Recal is worth considering for meeting recaps across Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows; its Pro plan is 14.00 USD per month and specifies recap-hour, duration, workspace, and team-member limits.
Route5 AI may suit readers focused on commitments: its free tier is view-only with a maximum of three commitments, while capture, agents, and enforcement require Classic, priced at 24.99 USD.
ActFlux is a web-only alternative with a free plan covering five meetings per month and a Pro plan described as offering enhanced features and higher usage limits.
AfterTheCall may fit client-call follow-up: its free plan covers three client calls, one follow-up email per call, Notion and Google Docs integration, and manual recording.
Notepik is a web and API alternative whose free plan includes one hour of meetings per month, up to three seats, and every feature.
Insolla Meeting Notes Analyzer is a web option with a free allowance of 25 rows per month across its tools, or a Pro plan at 49.00 USD per month for 500 rows.

Verdict

Choose HyNote if you want transcription and note generation joined to study, publishing, and calendar workflows, with several ways to capture material. Its broad output range is the strongest reason to pick it; the hard two-hour session ceiling and cloud-dependent mobile use are the clearest reasons to choose another tool.
