Overview

HungerRush is a cloud-based restaurant platform aimed especially at independent pizza and delivery operators, while also serving other independent restaurant concepts. Its broad mix of ordering, dispatch, POS, kitchen, and guest tools is appealing for operators seeking one system; the 36-month Base Package agreement makes it a more consequential commitment than the free entry tier.

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, HungerRush supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. The product combines point of sale, online ordering, delivery management, guest engagement, and reporting. Its one-location limit makes it a fit for single-site operators rather than businesses looking to manage a multi-location estate.

Key features

The Kitchen Display System replaces paper tickets with synced station screens and Order, Item, and Production views, plus automated prep timing. That can give kitchen teams a more structured way to track work across stations, particularly in busy operations where paper tickets are cumbersome.

OrderAI answers incoming calls, takes orders through natural conversation, and sends them to the POS. Staff can take over at any time, an important safeguard for operators who want to automate phone ordering without removing human intervention. HungerRush also routes orders from DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Postmates into the POS, with menu and store information syncing to marketplaces. Online orders through a HungerRush storefront or branded app carry no per-order commission, which is attractive to operators seeking direct digital sales.

The API offers secure, direct access to business data for partner integrations, custom workflows, dashboards, and reporting. The integrations roster includes tools such as 7shifts, HotSchedules, Restaurant365, Worldpay, Apple Pay, Braze, and INFI. Payment processing is described as using a PCI PTS 5.x-certified P400 with built-in encryption and tamper protection. Scan to Pay supports dine-in and delivery checkout but requires HungerRush Online Ordering.

HungerRush also supports menu management, table management, and staff scheduling. Its payment, ordering, and delivery features make it more than a basic till, though the broad feature set may be unnecessary for operators who only need one narrow function.

Pricing

Starter costs $0.00 USD per free, billed From $0 / Month, for operators who meet qualification criteria. It is limited to 1 location and 1 POS terminal, so it suits a small, eligible operator evaluating a basic setup, not a growing operation that needs additional terminals or sites.

The Base Package costs $149.00 USD per month, billed $149/month, all-in, with $0 down and a 36-month agreement. It includes POS hardware, core POS software, Online Ordering, Delivery Management & Dispatch, and Uber Eats and DoorDash integrations. Leased hardware is included with a full-term warranty. The package is a more complete choice for a single-site restaurant that needs sales and delivery tools together, but the three-year agreement is a substantial commitment. Its included marketplace integrations cover two named services, fewer than the four named in HungerRush's broader marketplace integration offering.

Custom pricing applies to the Custom plan, which includes online ordering, loyalty, automated marketing, a self-serve website editor, third-party ordering and delivery integrations, and delivery management. It may suit operators focused on digital sales and guest engagement, though it does not list the Base Package's POS hardware and core POS software. Build Your Own also has custom pricing, with a quote based on selected modules and business needs. Optional modules include Driver Track, 360 Marketing, Text Marketing, Loyalty, Feedback & Surveys, Gift Cards & Coupons, and OrderAI. It is the flexible route for businesses that want to select capabilities rather than take a fixed package, but the final cost depends on the chosen modules.

HungerRush advertises US-based support available 24/7. That around-the-clock availability is useful for restaurant operations, where ordering and payment problems can affect service beyond standard office hours.

Platforms

HungerRush is available on Android, iOS, and web, with an API for integrations and custom workflows. This combination supports mobile and browser access as well as partner connections.

Who it's for

HungerRush is best suited to independent pizza and delivery restaurants that want to connect phone and digital ordering with POS, dispatch, and kitchen workflows. Independent restaurants with different concepts may also benefit from its ordering, table, menu, and staff tools. It is a weaker fit for multi-location operators because of the one-location limit, and for businesses unwilling to enter a 36-month agreement for the Base Package.

Pros and cons

Pros: Direct storefront and branded-app orders have no per-order commission, which helps operators retain more control over digital ordering costs.
Pros: Kitchen display screens, automated prep timing, delivery dispatch, and phone-order automation connect front-of-house ordering to fulfillment.
Pros: Base Package hardware is $0 down and covered by a full-term warranty, and HungerRush advertises 24/7 US-based support.
Cons: Starter is restricted to one location and one POS terminal, limiting its usefulness for larger operations.
Cons: The $149/month Base Package carries a 36-month agreement, which reduces flexibility if a restaurant's needs change.
Cons: Custom and Build Your Own pricing depends on a quote, making those options harder to compare against fixed-price plans.

Alternatives

Choose GloriaFood if commission-free online ordering is the priority: its free service plan offers unlimited orders and locations with no monthly fee, while HungerRush Starter is limited to one location and one POS terminal.

SpotOn Restaurant is another option for restaurants seeking POS software and hardware, ordering, payments, table layouts, menu management, and reporting, with a two-year minimum term and processing minimums.

Pick 7shifts when staff scheduling is the central need: its Comp plan is free for up to 15 employees at one location, while HungerRush is a broader restaurant operations platform.

Eat App is an alternative for restaurants focused on guest management, with a free plan capped at 100 guests monthly and a Lite plan at $99.00 USD per month.

TablePort Sites may suit a restaurant that chiefly needs a live website: its free Sites plan publishes to a TablePort address, while HungerRush combines website editing with ordering and restaurant operations.

Gasty is another restaurant software alternative.

Heartland Retail offers a POS starting at $89.00 USD per month for businesses prioritizing retail-oriented point of sale over HungerRush's restaurant ordering and delivery mix.

Restroworks is another paid restaurant software option with custom pricing.

Verdict

HungerRush is a strong fit for a single-location independent restaurant, especially a pizza or delivery operator, that wants POS, online ordering, dispatch, kitchen screens, and phone orders tied together. The commission-free storefront orders and operational breadth are persuasive reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need multiple locations, a short commitment, or a fixed, easily compared price beyond the restricted Starter plan.
