Overview

HeyHub Student puts social engagement, resident services and marketplace activity in one digital ecosystem. That range may reduce the need for separate resident-facing channels, while integrations and bespoke work can affect the scope and timing of a deployment.

HeyHub typically recommends a site of at least 150 units or 50,000 square feet for an impactful deployment, though exceptions are considered case by case. After products and features are finalised, launch is estimated at about 8–10 weeks; bespoke development or multiple integrations can extend that. Operators should plan for both the site-fit decision and implementation work before committing.

Key features

Location-aware communities, interest matching, profiles, group chats, hangouts and direct messaging give residents multiple ways to connect. Events, staff broadcasts, polls and surveys add channels for updates and participation. This mix suits accommodation teams seeking engagement as well as service functions, though it is more than a narrowly focused resident-request app.

Residents can report maintenance or wellbeing issues, use keyless entry, contact concierge, book rooms and receive mail or package alerts. HeyHub also supports resident service requests, amenity booking, package tracking and online rent payments. Together these features cover practical accommodation tasks alongside community activity.

The Marketplace supports food and drink orders, retail purchases, discounts, table ordering, card payments and on-site job opportunities. Transactions use PayPal or Stripe, and HeyHub says it does not hold partner payments. Operators should account for that payment arrangement when deciding whether the marketplace suits their processes.

HeyHub says it can connect with CRM, property-management and access-control systems, and that integrations are possible through an open API. Security measures include GDPR compliance and a stated commitment to reducing breach risk and safeguarding client information. HeyHub does not monitor in-app conversations for GDPR reasons; users can report misconduct for review by the partner team, so operators take an active role in handling reports.

Partners receive a designated account manager and access to a customer-service portal monitored daily. Pilot schemes run from 6 to 12 months, with duration based on partner requirements and HeyHub recommendations.

Pricing

The Free test is free and includes HeyHub Community and HeyHub Facility modules and colleagues, with no credit card required. It offers a way to assess those modules, but the plan terms do not describe Marketplace access, so operators should not assume the test includes the full resident-commerce suite.

The HeyHub sector-specific license has custom pricing: residential sites are priced per unit, commercial sites per square foot, and mixed-use sites are quoted after a site review. Integrations and bespoke development are excluded from the standard license, which means the cost of a tailored deployment may go beyond the base license. The unit- or area-based approach is most relevant to operators seeking a site-specific quote rather than a fixed public rate.

Platforms

HeyHub Student is available on Android, iOS and the web. Its resident mobile app supports access to the community and service functions across mobile platforms and browser use.

Who it's for

It is a strong fit for student accommodation operators that want resident communication, community features, facility services and commerce in one ecosystem, particularly at sites near the recommended scale. Smaller properties or teams seeking a fixed-price, minimal service-request tool may find the site guidance, custom license and possible integration costs less suitable.

Pros and cons

Pro: Community, operational services and a marketplace sit together, supporting both resident engagement and routine accommodation tasks.
Pro: An open API and connections to CRM, property-management and access-control systems can help align the app with existing operations.
Pro: A free test is offered without a credit card, and pilots can run for 6–12 months.
Con: The typical recommendation of at least 150 units or 50,000 square feet makes it a less obvious choice for smaller sites, notwithstanding case-by-case exceptions.
Con: The standard license excludes integrations and bespoke development, while launch can take longer than the estimated 8–10 weeks when either is involved.
Con: HeyHub does not monitor conversations; partner teams must review user misconduct reports.

Verdict

HeyHub Student is best for student accommodation operators that want one ecosystem for community, facilities and marketplace functions and can support a site-specific deployment. Its breadth is the main reason to choose it; the recommended site scale, custom license and potential integration work are the main reasons smaller or price-sensitive operators should compare alternatives.
