Overview

Harvest is a time-tracking and invoicing product for teams that need to connect recorded work with billing and team administration. It is strongest for professional teams that bill for time; its free plan is too constrained for most shared workflows.

One-click timers, timesheets, and calendar imports give teams several ways to record work, while invoices can draw on tracked time and expenses. Approvals and capacity planning add managerial oversight, but the free tier’s one-seat, two-project ceiling makes it a limited starting point for a team.

Key features

Recording and billing work

Project tracking and billable time sit alongside timers, timesheets, and calendar imports. Offline tracking is supported, which helps when work is recorded without a connection. Turning tracked time and expenses into invoices with online payments gives Harvest a practical advantage for teams that need their records to lead directly into client billing.

Team administration

Approvals, permissions, roles, rates, and capacity planning support review and resource coordination. These controls make Harvest more suitable for managed teams than a bare timer, though the entry-level free plan cannot accommodate even a small team because it is limited to one seat.

Integrations and support

Harvest connects with accounting services including Stripe, QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Deel. Its homepage cites more than 40 integrations, while its pricing comparison cites more than 50 core integrations. Paid team plans list scheduled phone support, a useful option for teams that prefer a scheduled conversation over relying only on self-service.

Pricing

Harvest is freemium, with a free plan and a 30-day trial. The trial requires no credit card, but the account is deactivated after 30 days unless upgraded. That makes the trial low-commitment, while its end is a hard cutoff rather than continued access on trial terms.

Free: $0 forever for one seat and two projects, built for individual freelancers. It is a sensible way for a solo user to try the workflow, but the project and seat caps rule it out as a lasting team plan.
Teams monthly: $11.00 USD per month with unlimited seats and a 30-day free trial. This suits teams that want monthly billing rather than an annual commitment.
Teams annual: $9.00 USD per month, billed at $108 per seat annually, with unlimited seats. It is the lower-cost team option for organizations comfortable paying by the year; annual billing gives a 20% discount.
Enterprise monthly: $17.50 USD per month with a 30-day free trial. It is aimed at teams with advanced reporting and administrative needs that prefer monthly billing.
Enterprise annual: $14.00 USD per month, billed at $168 per seat annually. It targets teams with advanced reporting and administration that can commit annually.
Enterprise: custom pricing, with unlimited seats.
Enterprise Plus: custom pricing for organizations seeking tailored service, including custom integrations and product customization, a dedicated Customer Success Manager, custom onboarding and training, assisted data migration, and white labelling.

Monthly or yearly payment by credit card is available; teams with 10 or more seats can pay yearly by ACH or bank transfer. Teams with 50 or more seats can request a personalized consultation. The listed starting price of $9 per user per month applies to annual Teams billing, not the monthly option.

Platforms

Harvest supports Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and the web, with mobile apps for both major mobile platforms and a desktop app. This broad coverage suits teams working across computers and phones; offline tracking is also supported.

Who it's for

Harvest is a strong fit for professional teams that bill for time and want tracking, approvals, team controls, and invoicing in one product. Its unlimited-seat paid plans remove the free tier’s team-size constraint, while annual pricing lowers the per-seat monthly rate. Solo freelancers may find the free plan useful if two projects are enough; anyone needing more projects or a second user must move to a paid plan.

It is less compelling for users who need a genuinely usable free team tier: one seat and two projects leave little room to grow. Teams that do not need invoicing or administrative controls may also find the product’s combined scope unnecessary.

Pros and cons

Pro: Tracked time and expenses can flow into invoices with online payments, keeping work capture and billing connected.
Pro: Approvals, permissions, roles, rates, and capacity planning give managers tools to oversee team time and workloads.
Pro: Unlimited seats on Teams plans make the paid tiers viable for growing teams, and annual billing reduces the listed monthly rate.
Con: The free plan allows only one seat and two projects, so it is best treated as a solo plan rather than a team trial that can remain in place.
Con: The trial account is deactivated after 30 days unless upgraded, so teams must decide whether to pay to retain access.
Con: Enterprise Plus is tailored and custom-priced, so organizations cannot assess its cost from a fixed published rate.

Alternatives

Miru is worth considering if Linux or self-hosting support matters: those platforms are listed for Miru, alongside a free plan and trial. TimeCamp is a better fit for users prioritizing a free tier with unlimited users and projects; its free plan includes both, unlike Harvest’s one-seat, two-project cap.

Avaza may suit teams looking for project collaborators on a free plan, though its listed free allowance separates one timesheet/expense user from one admin/finance user and one resource-scheduling user. Invoice Ninja is an option for readers focused on invoicing, with a free plan that includes unlimited invoicing for up to five clients.

Paymo offers a free plan for one user, one client, and two projects, so it is another constrained solo starting point. TMetric may be preferable when a free tier for two seats is the priority. Bill4Time is an alternative with a listed Time & Billing plan at $49.00 USD per month. Zoho Invoice is a free option for Indian businesses, with a stated allowance of up to two users, three projects, and 500 invoices per year.

Verdict

Choose Harvest if your professional team needs to turn tracked, billable work and expenses into invoices while managing approvals and team capacity in the same product. Its strongest case is the link between time capture and online billing, supported by broad desktop and mobile access. Look elsewhere if a free multi-user plan is essential: Harvest’s free tier is for one person, and keeping a trial account active requires upgrading after 30 days.
