Overview

Employees can explore several development paths, choose an aspirational destination, and see experiences and skills that could help them move toward it. Career maps take both personal goals and company needs into account, while analysis of organizational structure and skills supply and gaps informs suggested goals and opportunities across short-, medium-, and long-term horizons.

That organizational context is a meaningful strength: career guidance can point to opportunities the employer can actually support. It also makes Gloat a better fit for enterprise talent programs than for an individual seeking a standalone career-planning app.

Key features

Pathways, coaching, and readiness

The Career Coach Agent uses skills, goals, aspirations, performance, career trajectory, and current opportunities to personalize recommendations. It can support growth planning, suggest learning, and match employees with mentors. A separate Career Readiness agent evaluates fit for a target role using skills, experience trajectory, and gap analysis, then suggests actions to address gaps. These tools make the platform useful for turning broad ambitions into concrete next steps, though their recommendations operate within the employer’s available roles and opportunities.

Development and learning

Gloat connects career guidance to projects, gigs, courses, coaching, mentoring, and volunteering. Its Talent Marketplace can connect an organization’s LXP and LMS and recommend courses in light of employees’ skills and goals. This gives employers a way to bring learning and development opportunities into career planning rather than treating a roadmap as an endpoint.

Governance and security

The Governance Engine can enforce rules such as mobility eligibility and manager approvals, and keeps an audit trail of AI actions. Gloat describes its AI commitments in terms of fairness, monitoring, transparency, and accountability, with AI intended to support rather than replace human decisions. Its security credentials include SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, and 27018; it says data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher and at rest with AES-256. Customers can request data storage in a particular region.

Pricing

Gloat uses a paid model with custom pricing. Prospective customers must request a demo or contact the sales team; there is no self-serve plan. That sales-led approach fits enterprise buyers evaluating a platform alongside their existing talent systems, but gives smaller employers no published entry price or direct way to start.

Platforms

Career Pathing is web-based. Gloat says its Career Coach Agent is also available in Microsoft Teams and as a native Microsoft Copilot skill. The platform identifies integrations with SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Oracle HCM, and any HCM system, making it relevant to organizations that want career development tied into existing HR infrastructure.

Who it's for

Gloat is aimed at enterprises that want employees to find internal paths and build skills against real organizational needs. It is especially suited to employers with learning systems and a range of projects, roles, or mentoring opportunities to connect to career goals. Organizations seeking a low-cost individual tool, a published subscription, or a plan employees can buy directly should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Personalized paths connect skills and aspirations to internal roles and development opportunities, making guidance more actionable than a roadmap alone.
Pros: Learning-system connections and integrations with major HCM platforms can place career development alongside existing enterprise workflows.
Pros: Eligibility rules, approval controls, and audit trails help organizations govern mobility and AI-supported recommendations.
Cons: Custom pricing and demo-led access make it difficult for smaller organizations to assess cost or begin independently.
Cons: The platform is web-based, with additional Career Coach access through Microsoft workplace products; it is not presented as a broad standalone mobile app.

Alternatives

Compare career pathing software if you want to consider the category more broadly. Waystones is worth considering for teams that want a free starting option: its Startup plan is free for up to 5 users, with 30 days of unlimited access, unlimited roles, and 3 career paths. Eightfold Talent Intelligence is another paid option, with Android, API, iOS, and web platforms.

Pando TMS is an enterprise TMS alternative with a product demo. C² Career Pathing Tool is a web-based paid alternative with pricing available by demo request. Groniva HRMS Career Pathing is another paid web option. 365Talents may suit buyers assessing a modular paid platform whose price depends on workforce size, selected modules, integrations, and support tier. Cegid Retail is a paid alternative spanning web, mobile, Windows, and self-hosted platforms. Cornerstone Talent Experience is another paid option, available on Android, iOS, and web.

Verdict

Choose Gloat Career Pathing if you are an enterprise that wants to connect skills-based career planning to internal work, learning, and governed mobility. Its central advantage is making development guidance actionable within the organization; its main drawback is sales-led custom pricing, which makes it a poor fit for buyers seeking a transparent, self-serve or individual product.
