Overview

Getcontact is a caller-identification and spam-screening app for people who want to check unfamiliar numbers and help flag unwanted calls. It is strongest for users who value community-powered caller information; it is a less natural fit if you do not want to grant contacts access or need computer access without a phone.

Key features

Caller ID identifies calls from numbers outside your saved contacts, and Spam Protection can automatically protect against robocalls, telemarketers and scam calls. Users can report unwanted calls, adding to the shared information other Getcontact users rely on. That reporting model is useful for community screening, though the service's value depends on participation.

The free lookup page also uses community search and report data to help identify callers and flag spam. Premium adds ad-free use, information about who viewed your tags and queried your number, private mode, a Premium badge and three-month phone-number search statistics. These extras suit people who actively use lookups and tags; they are less persuasive for someone who only wants basic call screening.

Getcontact Web enables computer access, but requires opening the app on a phone and scanning a code. The service also has a Privacy Management Centre where subscribers and non-subscribers can manage profile visibility, edit profile information or deactivate a profile. Getcontact says it does not sell personal information and funds free access through advertising partners; paid Premium removes ads. Its privacy policy says messages between users are end-to-end encrypted, while the app may request contacts access for caller ID and spam detection and may periodically synchronize contact-list data when relevant functions are enabled. Those permissions are an important consideration before enabling the service.

Pricing

The basic version is free at no cost and provides standard mobile app functionality. That is the sensible starting point for users who want caller identification and spam protection without paying, though the free plan does not include the paid Premium extras.

Getcontact Premium costs 2.99 USD per month, billed Monthly. It removes ads and adds tag-viewer and number-query information, private mode and a Premium badge. Premium Yearly includes those same features and is billed Annually, with custom pricing. A 7-day trial is offered. Premium is aimed at regular users of tags and number queries rather than people seeking only call screening.

Tariff plans add monthly search and tag-viewing allowances: Tariff 1 is 6.99 USD per month for 100 searches and 10 tag views; Tariff 2 is 13.99 USD per month for 200 and 20; Tariff 3 is 18.99 USD per month for 300 and 30; Tariff 4 is 26.99 USD per month for 500 and 50; Tariff 5 is 32.99 USD per month for 700 and 70; Tariff 6 is 41.99 USD per month for 1,000 and 100; and Tariff 7 is 57.99 USD per month for 1,500 and 150. Higher allowances suit heavier lookup use, but even the largest listed tier caps both activities; light users are better served by the free option or lower-cost Premium if they want its ad-free and privacy features rather than large quotas.

Platforms

Getcontact is available on Android, iOS and the web. Web access depends on the phone app for code scanning, so it is not a standalone computer setup. The privacy policy identifies Getverify LDA, registered in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, as the data controller. Customer support is available 24/7, with support@getcontact.com as a contact channel.

Who it's for

Choose Getcontact if you want automatic screening for unwanted calls, community reporting and caller identification, and are comfortable considering contacts access and profile controls. It is less suitable if you want an independent desktop workflow or do not want an app that can synchronize contact-list data when relevant functions are enabled.

Pros and cons

Pro: Caller identification, automatic spam protection and community reports combine individual screening with shared number information.
Pro: Subscribers and non-subscribers can manage profile visibility, edit profile details or deactivate a profile.
Con: Caller ID and spam detection may require contacts access, and enabled functions may periodically synchronize contact-list data.
Con: Web access requires a phone app and code scan, limiting its independence from a mobile device.
Con: Search and tag-viewing allowances are capped by tariff, with the highest listed tier limited to 1,500 searches and 150 tag views monthly.

Alternatives

Compare spam call blocking apps if you want to consider a wider set of call-screening options. YouMail is worth considering if voicemail is also a priority: its free plan includes 50 cloud messages, 100 voicemail-to-text transcriptions per month and unlimited known-spammer blocking. Hiya Spam Blocker offers a free basic plan with caller ID, basic call blocking and spam-number reporting, alongside a 3.99 USD monthly Premium plan.

RoboKiller is another freemium option, with a free plan that includes a global blacklist, spam-call notifications, weekly insights, spam reporting and Spam Patrol. CallApp offers unlimited-time free use with caller ID, spam protection and call blocking. T-Mobile Scam Shield has a free plan for T-Mobile customers with a qualifying service and capable device. Verizon Content Transfer is a free download for iOS and Android when the need is transferring content rather than screening calls. Call Protect is an iOS-only alternative with free basic spam-call blocking, caller ID and reverse phone lookup. DeepPurge is a free option for Linux, macOS and Windows.

Verdict

Getcontact is a strong fit for people who want caller identification backed by automatic spam protection and community reporting, with profile controls if they want to manage their visibility. Its basic version makes it possible to start without a subscription, but contacts access, phone-dependent web use and paid lookup quotas are real trade-offs. Look elsewhere if those privacy or access constraints matter more than the shared caller information.
