Overview

Facilities can publish dock availability and rules, allowing carriers and suppliers to request appointments within set constraints. Drivers can use QR and mobile workflows to submit arrival details, PO or BOL references, files and photos, and provide checkout updates. Teams can follow waiting trucks, dock assignments, yard status, dwell time, releases and checkout activity.

A load record connects PO and BOL details with carrier and supplier status, messages, documents, notes and activity history. That wider operational view is a meaningful advantage for teams that need to follow freight beyond the booking itself. For a facility seeking only a lightweight appointment calendar, much of that scope may be unnecessary.

Key features

Appointment scheduling: Published availability and rules help keep requests within facility constraints, and carrier self-service gives external partners a booking path. That is useful for reducing appointment coordination friction, but the monthly allowance still sets a hard boundary on volume.
Gate and yard workflows: QR and mobile check-in supports arrival details and supporting files, while yard tracking covers assignments, dwell time, releases and checkout. These functions are most relevant when teams need to coordinate trucks after they arrive, not just allocate dock slots.
Connected freight records: PO and BOL references, partner status, messages and documents stay associated with a load's activity history. This can help teams keep operational context together across a shipment's facility workflow.
Integrations: The platform supports standalone use, CSV-style imports and exports, API access and webhook updates for ERP, TMS and WMS workflows. HMAC-signed webhook delivery is described for appointment and load events, a useful security measure for teams connecting event data to other systems.

Pricing

LoadMetrics uses a freemium model and offers a 30-day trial. The free plan has no expiration and requires no credit card, making it suitable for a small operation assessing a one-facility workflow. Its ceiling is 25 dock appointments per month, so teams with regular higher volume will need to move up.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best fit
LoadMetrics Free	0.00 USD per free (billed $0/month)	1 facility, 25 dock appointments/month, carrier self-service, supporting documents and claims documentation; no credit card and no expiration.	Small sites with modest appointment volume.
Dock Scheduling	49.00 USD per month (billed $49/month)	1 facility and up to 250 appointments per month, including everything in LoadMetrics Free.	A single facility that has outgrown the free appointment allowance.
Complete LoadMetrics Platform — Standard	149.00 USD per month (billed Starting at $149/month)	1 facility, 500 freight records/month and unlimited internal, carrier and driver users.	Teams needing broader platform coverage and a higher freight-record allowance.

Both scheduling plans remain limited to one facility; Dock Scheduling raises the appointment cap but does not add another location. The Standard plan instead states a monthly freight-record allowance and unlimited user categories, so teams should weigh that scope against their appointment and facility needs.

Platforms

LoadMetrics is available on web and through an API. Driver check-in is described as a QR and mobile workflow, but the listed platforms are web and API.

Who it's for

The clearest fit is a distribution, warehouse or logistics team coordinating carriers and suppliers at a facility. The intended audiences include distributors, manufacturers, 3PLs, utilities, cold storage, food and beverage, building materials and industrial supply. Teams in those settings that need yard visibility and connected freight documentation have more reason to choose it than operations looking only to publish open dock slots.

The service says it uses reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards and is hosted in the United States. Support questions and requests are directed through contact or support request methods on the LoadMetrics website.

Pros and cons

Pro: Appointments, gate activity, yard status and freight records connect in one workflow, which suits teams managing more than bookings.
Pro: The free plan has no expiration and includes carrier self-service and supporting documents, giving a small facility room to use the workflow without a recurring charge.
Pro: CSV-style exchange, API access and signed webhook events provide options for connecting appointment and load activity to other systems.
Con: Every described plan is limited to one facility, so multi-site operations cannot use these plans to cover multiple facilities.
Con: The free plan stops at 25 appointments monthly, and the $49 scheduling plan tops out at 250, making appointment growth a direct reason to reconsider the tier.
Con: Standard specifies 500 freight records per month; its unlimited users do not remove that record cap.

Alternatives

Dock Scheduling Software is a useful starting point for comparing options across the category.

ProDocks is worth considering when a permanent free plan with unlimited doors and appointments at a single warehouse matters more than LoadMetrics' broader linked freight workflows. It also offers carrier booking and QR check-in.
SimpleDock suits readers looking for a free plan with one location, up to three team members, a shareable booking link, and email and SMS notifications.
Inbound Connect is another paid option, available on Android, iOS, web and API.
DataDocks may suit buyers who prefer a custom quote based on facility and requirements; it is a paid product available on Android, iOS, web and API.
Agistix Cold Chain is a paid, demo-required option for readers prepared for custom pricing, with web and API platforms.
SAP Business Network Planning Collaboration is a paid web product centered on supplier collaboration for forecasting, capacity planning and manufacturing visibility, rather than LoadMetrics' stated dock and yard workflow.
Transporeon Time Slot Management is a paid web-based alternative.
DockFlow is a paid web-based alternative.

Verdict

LoadMetrics Dock Scheduling is a strong fit for a single-facility distribution or logistics operation that wants appointment booking connected to gate, yard and freight activity. Its no-expiration free plan is a sensible entry point, and the $49 plan expands scheduling to 250 monthly appointments. Look elsewhere if you need multiple facilities on one plan or a higher appointment allowance without moving beyond the scheduling tier.
