Overview

Gainsight Customer Education is an on-demand learning platform for organizations educating customers and partners. It is best suited to teams that want course activity connected to customer-success work; its breadth is compelling, but the academy-site limits and custom pricing deserve close scrutiny.

Key features

Course-authoring tools cover activities, milestones, publishing, and quizzes, with assessments and certificates for checking progress and recording achievement. Admins can assign courses and organize learners into groups. Together, those tools suit structured customer or partner programs better than a simple, one-off course.

The strongest distinction is the connection to Gainsight CS, where customer success managers can access learner and activity data, including certification status and product usage. That can make education part of ongoing customer-success work, particularly for teams already using Gainsight CS. Integration topics also include Salesforce, Customer.io, Gainsight PX, Google Analytics, HubSpot, Iterable, Mailchimp, Zapier, Zendesk, and Zoom.

Commerce features cover educational products and bundles, payment gateways, coupons, promo codes, and order tracking. They make the platform a plausible fit for teams selling training as well as offering it to customers or partners. Custom branding and custom domains help shape the academy's presentation. AI-generated captions for Media Library videos are another useful production aid; Gainsight says customer data is not retained by third-party subprocessors or used to train the AI system, and that zero data retention applies.

API access and developer documentation support teams that need a programmatic route into the product. Gainsight also describes role-based access controls, encryption in transit and at rest, and security and privacy protocols that include SOC II, GDPR, and HIPAA. These safeguards matter for organizations handling learner and customer data, though the platform's fit still depends on plan scope and price.

Pricing

Gainsight uses a paid model, with custom pricing for all three plans. Essentials includes 1 Academy site, unlimited seats, and unlimited courses, making it the clearest starting point for a team launching a single academy. Its unlimited seats and courses avoid those specific caps, but do not remove the one-site boundary.

Professional includes 2 Academy sites. It may suit a team that needs a second academy, but its stated plan details do not include Essentials' unlimited-seat or unlimited-course terms, so buyers should confirm the complete package before comparing costs. Enterprise includes 3 Academy sites, a sandbox organization, and support for thousands of learners; it is aimed at teams scaling a larger education operation, but its site allowance remains finite. Request pricing and confirm the learner, course, and site terms that matter to your program.

Platforms

Gainsight Customer Education is available on web and through an API. That combination suits browser-based academies and teams integrating education data into other systems, but the stated platform coverage does not include mobile apps.

Who it's for

Choose it if your organization trains customers or partners, needs managed cohorts and formal completion records, or wants learner activity to inform customer-success work. It is especially persuasive for teams already using Gainsight CS and for education programs that will use academy commerce. A smaller team seeking a single course without customer-success integration or academy operations may find its breadth and custom-priced plans difficult to justify.

Pros and cons

Pro: Gainsight CS can bring certification, activity, and product-usage data into customer-success workflows.
Pro: Course authoring, learner management, assessments, certificates, and commerce cover much of a customer academy's operating needs.
Pro: Essentials includes unlimited seats and courses, while Enterprise adds a sandbox organization and supports thousands of learners.
Con: Every plan uses custom pricing, so buyers cannot compare the tiers on a published price alone.
Con: Academy sites are capped at one on Essentials, two on Professional, and three on Enterprise; teams planning more sites should verify fit.
Con: Only web and API platforms are stated, which may not suit buyers requiring a dedicated mobile app.

Alternatives

BlueVolt is worth considering for partner programs that need a sharing portal, broad publishing, and reporting. Continu offers paid Growth and Professional plans organized around monthly active-user bands, making it an alternative for buyers comparing capacity by that measure. AcademyOcean has a published Essential plan at 250.00 USD per month with an editor, quizzes, certification, AI tools, SCORM, learner groups, reports, and a mobile learner interface; consider it if that defined package and price suit your needs.

Confirm Academy is another paid web-based option to compare. Eurekos offers a standard license at 475.00 EUR per month for 50 monthly active users, a useful reference for buyers seeking a stated monthly price and user allowance. LatitudeLearning offers a 100-user license at 11.25 USD per year, based on a 3-year contract billed annually, for teams comparing a defined active-user allowance and contract term.

LearnRight has a Standard plan at 899.00 EUR per year, billed €899 per month, paid annually, with 250 active users, one portal, 100GB storage, and unlimited courses; compare it if those limits and its trial are relevant. SkyPrep offers Lite and Premium plans with 100 active users and unlimited courses, an alternative to assess if that stated capacity matches your program. For a broader shortlist, browse Customer Education Software or Learning Management Systems.

Verdict

Gainsight Customer Education is a strong fit for customer and partner education teams that want managed academies, commerce, and learning data tied to customer success. Its clearest reason to choose it is the Gainsight CS connection alongside a broad education toolkit. Look elsewhere if published pricing, more academy sites, or a stated mobile app platform is essential; otherwise, request custom pricing and verify each plan's limits against the scale of your program.
