Overview

FamCal brings household scheduling and coordination into one place, with shared events, task assignment, shopping lists and records for family notes and trip expenses. The free plan makes it possible to start without a subscription; Premium is an annual commitment that renews automatically unless canceled in time.

The family shares one account, with members using individual email addresses and a common password. That may be workable for a household comfortable sharing credentials, but it is a meaningful drawback for people who expect separate account access.

Key features

Calendar and reminders

Events are shared across the family, with month, week, agenda and text-month views. Local or cloud notifications and reminders help keep appointments and tasks visible. This range of calendar views suits households with different planning habits, though FamCal does not offer location sharing.

Tasks, lists and meal planning

Members can assign to-dos and share shopping and grocery lists, making the app relevant to recurring chores as well as errands. Its recipe box imports recipes from URLs, sends ingredients to shopping lists and lets families place meal plans on the calendar. The combination links meal planning to shopping rather than leaving recipes as a separate archive.

Memos and trip expenses

Memos can hold notes, photos and contact information, with comments and chat for discussion. For trips, expense tracking can be exported to PDF or CSV, a practical option for keeping a shareable record of costs.

Privacy and support

Google Play reports the developer declares no third-party data sharing, encryption in transit and a way to request data deletion. Apple’s listing says the developer indicates that location, contact information, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics may be used to track users across other companies’ apps and websites; Apple says that disclosure is unverified. These differing platform disclosures merit attention from privacy-conscious households. Google Play directs users with problems or suggestions to famcal.a@appxy.com.

Pricing

FamCal is freemium and has a free plan. The Premium Subscription plan has custom pricing. The annual FamCal Premium Subscription costs 39.99 USD per year, billed $39.99/year, and automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends. That price and renewal term matter for families weighing a paid upgrade; the free plan is the lower-commitment starting point.

Premium is presented for family organization features, but no seat count or additional plan limits are given.

Platforms

FamCal is available on Android, iOS, macOS and the web, giving households a choice of mobile, desktop and browser access.

Who it's for

FamCal is a good fit for families coordinating home chores and meal plans, school group projects, or shared expenses and trip planning. It is less suitable for households unwilling to share an account password, or those who need location sharing.

Pros and cons

Pros: Shared calendars, assigned tasks and shopping lists cover several everyday coordination needs in one app.
Pros: Recipe imports connect ingredients to shopping lists and meal plans to the calendar.
Pros: Trip expenses can be exported in PDF or CSV format.
Cons: Everyone signs in to one family account with a shared password, rather than distinct account access.
Cons: There is no location sharing, which rules it out for households needing that function.
Cons: The iOS privacy disclosure indicates potential tracking across other companies’ apps and websites, though Apple says it is unverified.
Cons: The annual Premium subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the term ends.

Verdict

Choose FamCal if your household wants a broad shared organizer that ties calendars, chores, shopping, meals and trip expenses together across mobile, desktop and web. Its strongest reason to choose it is that coordination spans more than scheduling; its strongest reason to look elsewhere is the shared-password account model. Review the renewal date and the platform privacy disclosures before committing to Premium.
