Overview

Fadr combines stem separation and remixing with tools for creating instruments and drum kits from text prompts. It suits musicians who want to work with existing tracks and generate musical building blocks in the same service. The free Basic plan is substantial for shorter songs; longer uploads, WAV exports and API access require Plus.

Key features

Separate and remix songs

Basic separates vocals, melodies, drums and bass, and includes unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets with MP3 downloads. That makes it a useful starting point for remixing without a subscription, though the 10-minute upload limit rules it out for longer source tracks. Plus raises the limit to one hour and offers 18 stem types, including lead and background vocals, kick, snare, piano, guitar, strings and wind. Those finer separations are more useful when a project needs a specific part rather than a broad vocal or instrumental split. Uploads can be up to 200 MB.

Plus also adds WAV downloads, plugins and unlimited storage. Batch processing is supported. The Stems Plugin works with major DAWs and software that supports VST3; it is available as VST3 for Windows and VST3 or AU for Mac.

Create instruments and drum kits

Siren turns words into playable instruments, with ADSR controls and low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and notch filters. It is available online, as an iPhone and iPad app, and as an audio plugin compatible with major DAWs. DrumGPT generates 16-element drum kits from text prompts and provides pitch, volume and amplitude-envelope controls. These creation tools extend Fadr beyond extracting parts from existing songs, but readers focused only on separation may not need them.

API and data handling

The API separates audio into vocals, drums, bass, melodies and instrumental, and detects MIDI, chord progressions, key and tempo. Its Create Stem Task endpoint costs US$0.05 per minute of audio, and API use requires Fadr Plus. Files are stored in Fadr's secure cloud storage and transferred through temporary presigned upload and download URLs. Fadr says its service is a web platform, its site is hosted in the United States, and it is not tailored to industry-specific regulations such as HIPAA and FISMA; that makes it a poor fit for workflows that require those compliance assurances.

Pricing

Fadr Basic: 0.00 USD per free. It includes vocals, melodies, drums and bass, MP3 downloads, MIDI detection and Remix Maker, with unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets. Its main trade-offs are the 10-minute upload limit and lack of Plus features such as WAV downloads, plugins and API access.

Fadr Plus: 10.00 USD per month. It adds 18 stem types, one-hour uploads, WAV downloads, plugins, API access and unlimited storage. It is the practical choice for longer tracks, more detailed separation or plugin and API workflows. API use also incurs the endpoint charge of US$0.05 per minute of audio.

Platforms

Fadr is available on web, iOS, macOS and Windows, and offers an API. Siren's iPhone and iPad app complements its online and plugin versions. The Stems Plugin supports Windows VST3 and Mac VST3/AU.

Who it's for

Fadr is a strong fit for people who want to remix songs, pull out specific musical parts, or combine separation with text-prompted instrument and drum-kit creation. Basic works for short tracks and MP3-based projects; Plus is better for longer uploads, WAV exports and DAW or API integration. It is less suitable when uploads exceed 200 MB or when a workflow requires HIPAA- or FISMA-tailored service terms.

Pros and cons

Pro: Basic includes unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets at no charge, making it possible to work with short tracks without paying.
Pro: Plus offers 18 stem types and one-hour uploads, giving users more control over both separation detail and track length.
Pro: Siren, DrumGPT, plugins and API access cover creation and integration as well as stem extraction.
Con: Basic's 10-minute upload cap excludes longer tracks, while WAV downloads and the expanded stem set require the $10 monthly plan.
Con: API access requires Plus and adds a per-minute endpoint charge.
Con: Fadr's terms do not tailor the service to HIPAA or FISMA requirements, limiting its suitability for regulated workflows.

Verdict

Choose Fadr if you want free, unlimited remixing and basic stem separation for shorter tracks, with a paid path to longer uploads, detailed stems, WAV exports and plugins. Its range is the main draw; the 10-minute free cap and Plus requirement for API access are the clearest reasons to look elsewhere.
