Overview

eWire combines AI-assisted press-release writing with distribution for startups, founders and small PR agencies. It suits teams that want drafting and syndication in one workflow, but distribution is conditional on editorial standards and paid-plan limits.

Describe an announcement in plain language and eWire can turn it into an AP-style release with the expected sections. Its distribution reach is a meaningful draw; the 300-word minimum and requirement for a genuine news announcement make it a poor fit for routine company updates or promotional copy.

Key features

Drafting and scoring: eWire says a 100-word brief is enough to begin, and lists AI drafting, scoring and SEO optimization. The output includes a headline, dateline, body, boilerplate and contact section. That structure can help founders prepare a formal release, but it does not remove the editorial bar: submitted releases must be at least 300 words, use AP style and contain a genuinely newsworthy announcement.

Distribution: One-click distribution can reach 500+ news outlets, Google News and eWire's subscriber list, with pickup analytics. Published releases may also be syndicated through networks including EIN Presswire and NewswireJet. The reach is useful when a startup needs more than a draft, though the expanded wire networks are priced separately on paid tiers.

Agent and API workflow: eWire provides an MCP server for AI coding agents and documents a release-submission API. This is a distinctive fit for teams automating communications from an agent or IDE; it is less relevant to users who prefer a standalone writing tool.

Editorial and data considerations: eWire may decline distribution and requires compliance review for securities offerings or Reg A+ content. It says it is not an SEC-registered disclosure service. Draft text is sent to large language model providers; eWire says it uses zero-retention or no-training APIs where available. Unpublished drafts are deleted 90 days after their last edit, while published releases remain indefinitely as public record.

Pricing

Free: $0 forever includes AI drafting, scoring, PDF output and unlimited drafts, but no distribution. It is useful for preparing releases, not for reaching outlets through eWire.

Starter: $49/mo includes four releases per month and proprietary network distribution. Expanded wire syndication costs $149/release. This is the entry paid tier for low-volume teams that can work within four monthly releases and do not need wire distribution on every announcement.

Growth: $199/mo includes unlimited releases and three team seats; expanded wire syndication is $99/release. It suits higher-volume teams sharing work across a small group, while the extra syndication charge means the monthly price is not the whole distribution cost.

Agency: $399/mo includes unlimited releases, 10 white-label client accounts, API access and SLA support. It is the clearest fit for boutique agencies managing multiple startup clients, especially where API access matters.

Enterprise: Starting at $1,200/mo, this plan offers custom distribution, SLA support, team seats and dedicated account management. It targets organizations needing managed distribution; the price is a starting point rather than a fixed total.

Expanded wire syndication: Growth/Agency syndication is $99 per release; Starter syndication is $149 per release. Both are described as reaching 2,500+ outlets, including EIN Presswire, GlobeNewswire and Send2Press. The cheaper Growth/Agency rate makes wire distribution less costly per release, but only after committing to the higher monthly plan. Paid plans are billed monthly; custom pricing is available for enterprise needs.

Platforms

eWire supports web and API access. The API and MCP server suit agent-driven workflows; web access covers teams working directly in the service.

Who it's for

Seed-to-Series A and bootstrapped founders, AI, crypto and web3 projects, and boutique PR agencies with 3–10 startup clients are eWire's stated audience. It is strongest for teams with a real announcement to distribute and enough recurring volume to justify a paid tier. It is not a disclosure service for securities offerings, nor a fit for organizations that need distribution without editorial review.

Pros and cons

Pro: Drafting and distribution sit in one workflow, with pickup analytics alongside reach to 500+ outlets, Google News and subscribers.
Pro: Unlimited drafts on the free plan let users prepare releases before paying, though distribution is excluded.
Pro: MCP and API access support agent-based submission, with Agency adding API access and client accounts.
Con: Distribution requires a paid plan, and the Starter tier caps releases at four per month.
Con: Expanded wire syndication adds $99 or $149 per release, so teams should budget for it separately.
Con: Editorial standards are strict enough to rule out short announcements and routine promotional updates; distribution can also be declined.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see AI Press Release Generators.

Choose inkera.io if one free monthly release and English or Estonian output are enough and journalist email sending is not needed. NewPR.io offers three free PR generations monthly, plus a Press Room, Podium, Social Hub and unlimited social posts, making it a better match for teams prioritizing those publishing tools.

Press Release Distribution AI is another option for a four-release monthly Starter plan at $49.00 USD per month and a free plan with one release per month. PressPilot may suit teams seeking a lower monthly entry point: its Startup plan is 19.00 EUR per month and includes 100 credits and up to three team seats.

Presscloud AI Generator is worth considering for a per-release workflow with press lists. USAEV.Press offers a single release for 67.00 USD per release or a 99.00 USD per month subscription with lower per-release pricing.

Prezly AI Press Release Optimizer is an alternative for teams comparing plans by site, users and contact capacity. H-SUPERTOOLS AI Press Release Writer is another option.

Verdict

eWire is a strong fit for startup founders and boutique agencies that need both structured AI drafting and distribution, particularly when agent or API workflows matter. The free tier is useful for drafting but cannot distribute; the key reason to look elsewhere is the combination of editorial eligibility rules and per-release wire costs, which can make eWire a poor match for casual announcements or predictable high-volume syndication budgets.
