Overview

Rebind is a keyboard-and-mouse remapping engine with an optional USB device for hardware-based input output. It is best suited to people who want scripts, macros, or game-specific controls; the software is free, while the Link is a separate, one-time hardware purchase.

The platform distinction is decisive: the Engine runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, but Link-based peripheral attachment requires Windows or macOS. Linux capture is not implemented, so Linux users should treat Rebind as a software-only option.

Key features

Remapping and profiles

The Engine combines keyboard and mouse remapping with sensitivity controls, macros, per-app controls, and per-game profiles. Chat macros and layered binds are aimed at gaming workflows, where separate configurations can matter more than a basic device preset. That breadth is useful for users who want to tailor input by app or game, but may be unnecessary for someone who only needs standard device configuration.

Scripting and connections

Rebind runs Luau scripts and supports HTTP and WebSocket connections. Developers can connect tools through Luau or clients for TypeScript, Python, and Rust. Its MCP server supports screenshots, keyboard and mouse actions, and script execution, extending the Engine beyond remapping for users building connected workflows.

Free scripts without source protection can be installed as a guest. Paid marketplace scripts require an account and credits, so the free software does not mean every script is free. RebindGPT is included with the Engine plan, and Rebind provides documentation, platform guides, setup requirements, and setup guides.

Optional hardware output

Rebind Link provides physical USB keyboard and mouse output, with hardware-isolated capture, a dedicated onboard processor, multi-device support, and a report rate of up to 8,000 Hz. This is the choice for users who specifically need a hardware output path; the software mode does not require Link. The first batch is limited to 50 units and is backordered.

Pricing

Rebind Engine — free. The free plan includes the Luau scripting runtime, keyboard and mouse remapping, macros, HTTP and WebSocket support, RebindGPT, and Windows, macOS, and Linux support. It has no trial clock, account requirement, or Link requirement for software mode, making it the clear starting point for people who want to try the Engine or use it without buying hardware.

Rebind Link — 199.00 USD per once. This one-time purchase includes hardware-isolated USB HID output, up to 8,000 Hz USB report rate, a dedicated processor, multi-device support, free shipping, a lifetime device license, and 12 months of Pro. Permanent activation means there is no recurring device-license fee, but the included Pro entitlement lasts only 12 months. Backorder status and the initial 50-unit batch make timing a practical consideration. Choose Link for the hardware output, not as a prerequisite for the free Engine.

Paid marketplace scripts are an additional purchase using credits; the Engine’s free status does not cover those scripts. The Link price is a hardware charge rather than a recurring subscription.

Platforms

Rebind Engine installs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Rebind Link’s hardware peripheral attachment works on Windows or macOS; Linux capture is not implemented. The Engine’s broad desktop support therefore does not carry over to Link hardware on Linux.

Who it's for

Rebind fits users who want remapping plus scripting, macros, and controls organized by app or game, as well as developers connecting input workflows to other tools. Its free Engine makes it possible to use those software features without an account or hardware purchase.

It is less suitable for Linux users seeking hardware peripheral attachment, or for someone who only wants a device-specific configuration utility. Link is relevant only when physical USB output is part of the requirement, and its backorder status should factor into that choice.

Pros and cons

Pro: The Engine is free on Windows, macOS, and Linux, with no account or Link required for software mode.
Pro: Remapping, sensitivity controls, macros, per-app controls, per-game profiles, and Luau scripting support more tailored workflows than remapping alone.
Pro: Link has permanent activation and no recurring device-license fee, while including 12 months of Pro.
Con: Link peripheral attachment requires Windows or macOS; Linux capture is not implemented.
Con: Link costs 199.00 USD per once and is backordered, so hardware output entails a substantial upfront purchase and may require waiting.
Con: Paid marketplace scripts require sign-in and credits, despite the free Engine.

Verdict

Choose Rebind if you want free, cross-platform remapping with scripting and game-specific controls, or if your workflow calls for Link’s physical USB output on Windows or macOS. Look elsewhere if you need hardware attachment on Linux, only want a device-specific preset utility, or do not want to pay upfront and wait for the backordered Link.
