Overview

EmailOnDeck’s core appeal is a quick-lived inbox that can reduce the need to share a personal address. Free access is narrow by design: messages usually remain accessible for hours, and free users can send only to other EmailOnDeck addresses. Choose it for short-term receiving, not as a substitute for a lasting mailbox.

Key features

Free users can keep one email active at a time, while Pro allows 100 or more and adds custom and saved addresses plus exclusive domains. Pro also lifts the sending restriction, allowing anonymous email to anyone. That is a meaningful upgrade for users who need outbound mail, though sending is not available through the API.

Attachments can be viewed or downloaded from a message. The free Spy Pixel Scanner runs in the browser and says pasted email source is neither uploaded nor stored. EmailOnDeck says it uses HTTPS and TLS, continuously wipes servers and logs, keeps no backups, and overwrites deleted disks before reuse; its hosting facility is stated to be SOC 2 Type II and PCI-DSS certified.

The Pro API can create and delete addresses, list domains, count messages, view headers, and retrieve raw messages, with a daily limit of 25,000 calls. It requires an active Pro account and a 40-character private API key. The Chrome and Firefox extensions create disposable addresses; Chrome says it requests access only to emailondeck.com, not browsing history or all websites.

Pricing

Plan	Price and terms	What it includes
Free	0.00 BTC per free, billed forever	Ad-supported; one email at a time; private emails; logs securely wiped
PRO (Bitcoin)	0.00 BTC per once; each payment extends access 30 days	No ads; 100+ emails at a time; sending; custom and saved addresses; exclusive domains; API access
PRO (Ethereum)	0.03 ETH per once; each payment extends access 30 days	No ads; 100+ emails at a time; sending; custom and saved addresses; exclusive domains; API access

The free plan is enough for occasional receiving if one active address and ad support are acceptable. Pro is aimed at users who need multiple addresses, sending, or API tools. Its payment terms extend access by 30 days per payment; the Bitcoin plan is priced at 0.00 BTC per payment, while Ethereum is 0.03 ETH.

Platforms

EmailOnDeck offers web access, free iPhone and Android apps, and Chrome and Firefox extensions. Its API is a Pro feature, so developers need a paid-access account even though the Bitcoin plan’s stated payment amount is 0.00 BTC.

Who it's for

It is a practical match for people who need temporary receiving addresses across devices, or Pro users who want anonymous outbound email and address-management API calls. It is less suitable when messages must remain available reliably: free access can end sooner than expected if the browser closes or cookies are cleared, and inbox lifetime is measured in hours.

Pros and cons

Pro adds useful breadth: multiple active emails, custom addresses, anonymous sending, and API access in one upgrade.
Several access routes: web, iOS, Android, Chrome, and Firefox support different ways to generate disposable addresses.
Short, fragile free inbox life: access usually lasts hours and may end early after browser closure or cookie clearing.
Free sending is restricted: messages can go only to other EmailOnDeck addresses.
API is not a sending route: it supports address and message operations but not sending, and requires active Pro access.

Alternatives

SecureTempMail is a better fit if inbox retention of up to 30 days, history and search, or premium private domains matter more; its Premium plan is 39.00 USD per year.

Temp-Mail.org is another cross-platform option with free receive-only mail stored up to 1–2 hours, while its premium monthly plan is 10.00 USD per month.

MailDrop suits users who prefer request-based limits: its free plan allows 300 requests per day and one mailbox per 24 hours, while Starter raises that to 30,000 requests per month and 10 mailboxes per 24 hours for 5.00 USD per month.

Mohmal is worth considering for a web-only workflow with a free plan that includes an own domain, three inbox records, three saved messages, and attachment viewing; Standard costs 4.99 USD per month.

MailTub is a free alternative for readers who want a broader platform mix, including desktop and self-hosted options.

Temp Mail API may suit API users seeking premium domains, custom domains, saved messages, and forwarding; its Premium plan has no published price.

Guerrilla Mail is an alternative to consider for custom-domain email, with a custom domain plan at 9.99 USD per year.

SpamEater is a free alternative for web and Linux users.

Verdict

EmailOnDeck is best for people who need temporary addresses across web, mobile, or extensions, with Pro available for anonymous sending and address-management API work. Its strongest reason to choose it is that combination of broad access and a capable Pro tier; its clearest reason to look elsewhere is the short, potentially fragile free inbox lifetime.
