Overview

The Resume Parse endpoint returns candidate and contact details, work experience, education, skills, sections and an ATS confidence value. DocuShell uses a deterministic extractor of its own rather than an LLM, which may suit teams that want a predictable, structured response as part of their application flow.

Uploads and generated artifacts are held in temporary processing storage and deleted after stream completion or within a one-hour cleanup sweep. Idempotency-Key handling helps manage retries: a retry received while the original request is still running gets an in-progress response. These safeguards support integration work, while monthly credit limits put a hard boundary on usage.

Key features

PDF profile parsing: The returned fields cover a broad candidate profile, including ATS confidence, giving recruiting software data to use beyond a plain-text resume. The endpoint is specifically for PDF resumes.
Small-batch processing: A batch request accepts up to 10 PDFs, and webhook events are sent as individual files complete. That suits automated intake in modest batches, not a single large upload.
Signed webhook delivery: Events can go to n8n, Zapier, Make, Airtable, databases, CRMs or custom HTTPS endpoints. HMAC-SHA256 signing and support for current and previous signatures during key rotation help protect webhook handling without interrupting a rotation.
Bounded credit use: Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. Processing stops at the plan limit, with no automatic overage charges, which makes spend easier to bound but can interrupt intake if a quota runs out.

Pricing

DocuShell has a free tier, but it is not a free API tier: Free costs 0.00 USD per month and includes 500 credits monthly, files up to 50 MB and PDFs or jobs up to 50 pages, but no API access. A free trial is also offered. For API use, the entry point is Starter at 7.20 USD per month, or $86.40/yr billed annually.

Plan	Price	Monthly credits	File and page limits
Free	0.00 USD per month	500	50 MB; 50 pages
Starter	7.20 USD per month; $86.40/yr billed annually	5,000	50 MB; 100 pages
Pro	15.20 USD per month; $182.40/yr billed annually	12,000	100 MB; 200 pages
Growth	23.20 USD per month; $278.40/yr billed annually	20,000	100 MB; 300 pages
Scale	63.20 USD per month; $758.40/yr billed annually	60,000	100 MB; 750 pages

All paid plans include API access and webhooks. Starter is the low-cost route to integration, but its 5,000-credit ceiling and 50 MB/100-page limits are tighter than the higher tiers. Pro, Growth and Scale progressively raise the monthly allowance and file or page caps, making them better suited to heavier intake or larger PDFs. Resume Parse costs 15 credits per resume; the displayed per-parse estimates are $0.027 on Starter, $0.024 on Pro, $0.022 on Growth and $0.02 on Scale. Those estimates fall as the allowance grows, but each plan still stops at its monthly quota.

Platforms

The product is available through an API and on the web. API access and webhooks are included with paid plans; the Free plan is limited to web use.

Who it's for

ATS and recruiting platforms, job boards, sourcing tools, HR-tech SaaS and HRIS products are the clearest fit. Teams can route signed webhook events into automation services, databases or CRMs, or a custom HTTPS endpoint. It is less suitable for someone who needs API parsing at no cost, or whose intake requires formats beyond PDF.

Pros and cons

Pro: Broad structured profile fields and ATS confidence give recruiting systems useful output in one response.
Pro: Batch requests, completion events, signed webhooks and idempotent retries support automated workflows.
Pro: Temporary file handling and no automatic overage charges help constrain retention and spending.
Con: API access begins with a paid plan, so the 500-credit Free tier cannot serve as a free API trial.
Con: Monthly credits expire at reset and processing stops at the cap, which can leave variable or spiky intake without room to continue.
Con: Batch size is capped at 10 PDFs per request, and the parsing endpoint is for PDFs.

Alternatives

Compare resume parsing software if you want to survey the category. Doxis AI.dp is worth considering for pay-as-you-go usage with monthly billing or a custom-priced volume arrangement. DiscoverCloud Resume Parser is an option if self-hosting, 40+ language parsing or 24x7 support matters. Online Resume Parser may fit teams seeking a freemium API with a 500-credit monthly Starter plan, though its stated Starter price is 24.00 EUR per month. Parseur is an alternative with a free allowance of up to 20 pages per month and one user. RChilli Resume Parser offers free credits and states support for multiple document formats, 40+ resume languages and 200+ resume fields. Rezmatch.ai may suit a small trial: its free tier has 100 starter credits and supports resumes up to two pages. CV Parser API is another free-tier API option, with 50 CV parses per month and GraphQL access. OpenResumeParser is a free MIT-licensed project for teams that prefer a self-hosted option.

Verdict

DocuShell is a strong fit for recruiting and HR software teams that want structured PDF profiles, modest batch parsing and webhook delivery with bounded monthly spend. Its deterministic extraction and integration safeguards make it a focused API choice. Look elsewhere if you need free API access, non-PDF parsing or processing that can continue beyond a monthly credit cap.
