Overview

Dextr is a personal CRM that adds relationship details and follow-up tools to an Apple contact list. It suits people who meet many people and want more context than a standard address book provides. Its generous free plan makes it easy to start, but Pro is necessary for interaction logs and Mac access.

Tags, custom relationship types, groups, and reminders help turn a contact list into a record of who people are and when to reconnect. Dextr syncs with native iOS Contacts, while iCloud can keep notes and relationship organization consistent across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Browse our Personal CRM Software directory for more options.

Key features

Relationship organization: Tags, custom relationship types, and contact groups allow users to sort people according to their own context rather than rely on a flat list.
Follow-up reminders: Reminders help users remember to reconnect, and the Free plan includes them alongside unlimited contacts.
AI Organizer Assistant: The assistant helps organize contacts and clean up duplicate or incomplete entries, a practical aid for an untidy address book.
Contact and Apple device sync: Native iOS Contacts sync reflects changes in both apps. iCloud can keep tags, relationships, notes, and organization aligned across Apple devices.
Interaction history and scanning: Pro adds interaction logging and business card scanning. These features make Pro more useful for people who want to track past contact, or add people from cards; scanning can use optional camera access.
Import and export: Both are supported, which gives users a way to move contact data in or out.

Privacy and permissions

Contacts access is required, so Dextr is not a fit for someone unwilling to grant an app access to their address book. The maker says contact data and user content are not sent to Dextr or third parties, while app and device information, diagnostics, attribution, and subscription information may be collected. Dextr names PostHog for analytics and diagnostics, Dub for link attribution, and RevenueCat for subscription infrastructure. Its privacy policy says data transmission is encrypted and access controls are appropriate to the information handled.

Notifications, calendar, and camera access are optional for reminders, event integration, and card scanning. Deleting an account removes Dextr-specific tags, relationships, notes, and custom fields while preserving native iOS Contacts. Users with further questions can contact Dextr support.

Pricing

Dextr is freemium, with a free plan and a 14-day trial. Free costs 0.00 USD per free, billed Free forever, and includes unlimited contacts, AI organization, relationships and tags, reminders, places, and events. That is a strong starting point for users who need organization and follow-ups without a contact cap.

Pro costs 14.99 USD per year, billed annually. It includes everything in Free plus interaction logging, business card scanning, and the Mac app. It is the relevant upgrade for users who need those additions; users content with contact organization and reminders can stay on Free.

Platforms

Dextr is available on iOS and macOS. iCloud sync can keep organization consistent across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, while the Mac app itself is a Pro feature. That makes the free tier less suitable for someone who wants to use Dextr on a Mac.

Who it's for

Dextr fits people who travel often, network frequently, date actively, or otherwise meet many people and want structured relationship context around their contacts. It is less compelling for users outside the Apple ecosystem, or for anyone who does not want to grant required Contacts access.

Pros and cons

Pros

Unlimited contacts on Free: Users can build a large personal contact system without a stated volume cap.
Useful organization without Pro: AI organization, relationships, tags, reminders, places, and events are included in the free tier.
Native contacts and iCloud support: Sync connects Dextr's organization to an existing iOS contact list and Apple devices.

Cons

Required Contacts permission: The app depends on access to the address book, which will rule it out for privacy-conscious users who avoid that permission.
Mac app is gated behind Pro: Free users do not get the Mac app, despite iCloud sync supporting Apple devices.
Logging and card scanning also require Pro: Users seeking a fuller interaction record or scanning workflow must pay for the annual tier.

Alternatives

Contacts+ Personal CRM is worth considering for users who want Android or web access; its free tier supports one account and 1,000 contacts with daily sync, rather than Dextr's unlimited contacts.

Kithmap is a free-for-now open beta for users looking for a macOS and web option.

Revere is another iOS and macOS choice; its free plan includes unlimited people, notes, and reminders, while Premium is 4.99 USD per month.

Contact Book may suit users looking for an API or web option, with a free tier and paid Standard monthly and annual plans.

KeepContact is an iOS alternative whose free tier caps users at 15 contacts and 3 reminders; its Pro monthly plan offers unlimited contacts and reminders.

Meaningful is a web-based option with an Alpha plan offering all features and unlimited contacts.

SoonCall suits iOS users focused on a small circle: its free plan covers five meaningful relationships and catch-up planning.

Cultivar is another option for users considering iOS and web access.

Verdict

Dextr is a sensible choice for Apple users who meet many people and want unlimited contacts, AI organization, and reminders without paying. Choose Pro if interaction logging, card scanning, or the Mac app is important; look elsewhere if you need Android or web access, or prefer not to grant Contacts permission.
