Overview

Déjà Vu X3 combines translation memory, terminology management, alignment and customizable QA in one desktop application. DeepMiner mines translation memories and terminology databases to assemble phrases and repair fuzzy matches. AutoWrite proposes terms, phrases and sentences from those databases for selection during translation. The practical advantage grows with the quality and size of your existing language assets; newcomers with little reusable material will get less from these automation features.

Live Preview shows progress in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files, helping translators see the target document while working. File support covers Office documents, PDF, XLIFF, SDLXLIFF, TMX, XML, YAML, InDesign, HTML and many other formats. Interoperability includes TMX, Studio packages, SDLXLIFF, MemoQ XLIFF, Wordfast TXML, RTF external view, TTX and Trados Workbench formats, which is useful when projects arrive from different CAT environments.

Key features

Assistance and terminology

Translation memory and terminology databases feed both DeepMiner and AutoWrite, turning prior work into match repairs and selectable suggestions. Terminology management supports consistent vocabulary across projects.

Quality and production control

The QA module checks terminology consistency, formatting, numbers and tags. Because rules are customizable, teams can adapt checks to project requirements rather than relying only on fixed defaults. The alignment tool helps create reusable translation assets from source and target material.

Collaboration and integrations

Workgroup enables real-time sharing of translation memories and termbases, multilingual projects and workload splitting. Machine-translation integrations include Google Translate, Microsoft Translate, ITranslate4, MyMemory Translate, Systran, Promt Translation and Asia Online Language Studio. Dragon NaturallySpeaking integration adds voice commands and speech recognition for users who want speech input in the workflow.

Pricing

The pricing model is freemium. A Professional trial installs the full Professional version for 30 days, then switches to FREE mode. Paid pricing starts at €420, while the published free plan is free.

Plan	What it includes	Best fit
Déjà Vu X3 Free	Free; standalone and satellite projects prepared with Déjà Vu X3 Workgroup	Satellite contributors and limited standalone projects
Déjà Vu X3 Professional	Custom pricing; two target languages per project; five translation memories and termbases per target language	Individual translators with bounded project requirements
Déjà Vu X3 Workgroup	Custom pricing; 24 target languages per project; unlimited translation memories and termbases per target language	Teams sharing language assets and dividing workloads

Workgroup is also sold in five-, 10-, 20- and 50-license editions, all with custom pricing. Professional is more constrained in languages and memories, while Workgroup is the clear choice when shared resources or larger multilingual projects justify team licensing. After the evaluation period, FREE is not a full continuation of Professional: it is intended to view and work on satellite projects sent by translation firms, including standalone and Workgroup-prepared satellite projects.

Platforms

Déjà Vu X3 is desktop software for Windows. Atril lists Windows XP through Windows 10 and older Windows Server releases as supported. ARM-based Macs cannot run DVX3, even through a Windows virtual machine, so Mac users need another platform or tool. Atril provides a resource center, support-request pages and support by email at support@atril.com. It says it uses reasonable commercial efforts to protect personal data and does not sell or otherwise market personal data to third parties except Atril partners.

Who it's for

Professional suits translators whose projects fit two target languages and five memories or termbases per target language. Workgroup suits agencies and teams that need up to 24 target languages, unlimited per-language memories and termbases, real-time sharing and workload splitting. Free is best for recipients of satellite projects or limited standalone work after the 30-day Professional evaluation. The broad format and CAT-tool support also suit translators moving files between clients and systems.

Pros and cons

Pro: DeepMiner and AutoWrite turn existing memories and terminology into practical match repairs and suggestions.
Pro: Customizable checks cover terminology, formatting, numbers and tags, while Live Preview covers common Office and PDF deliverables.
Pro: Workgroup adds shared memories, termbases, multilingual projects and workload splitting.
Con: Windows-only support excludes native Mac workflows, and ARM-based Macs cannot use a virtual machine workaround.
Con: Free mode is narrowly focused on satellite projects after the 30-day Professional evaluation.
Con: Professional limits projects to two target languages and five memories and termbases per target language; paid plan prices are custom.

Verdict

Déjà Vu X3 is a strong choice for Windows translators and teams that can exploit translation memories, terminology databases, QA rules and broad file interoperability. Its main reason to choose it is the combination of database-driven assistance and Workgroup collaboration; its main reason to look elsewhere is the Windows restriction and the limited role of FREE mode for solo users.
