Overview

Thumblore turns a video title or topic into thumbnail options for creators publishing on YouTube and social platforms. It is best suited to people who want a repeatable way to make and refine visuals without doing the design work themselves. The trade-off is a credit-based workflow: generation and edits both consume credits, while free exports carry a Thumblore badge.

Key features

Generate, then refine

Each generation returns two options, with text, faces, and color handled automatically. That gives a creator a choice of starting points, while chat editing lets them request headline, color, or layout changes in plain English. This is a practical alternative to manually adjusting a design, but every generation and edit draws from the same credit balance. Costs vary with the work involved, so the approximate thumbnail counts on paid plans are guidance rather than fixed output quotas; Thumblore shows the cost before an action is confirmed.

Reusable avatars and formats

Creators can make or upload a face, save it, and reuse it, including placing multiple saved avatars in one thumbnail. That is useful for channels seeking a consistent on-screen identity across posts. Thumblore supports 16:9 and 9:16 formats, covering YouTube thumbnails as well as Story, Short, and Reel outputs. It also supports YouTube Community posts, TikTok, and Facebook Stories.

Ownership and privacy

The terms say users own generated outputs and may use them commercially, subject to applicable law and underlying model-provider rights. Thumblore says it does not sell personal data or use prompts or outputs to train foundation models. Its privacy policy names Dodo Payments, Supabase, Cloudflare, Google Cloud Vertex AI/Gemini, and Cloudflare R2 as service processors, and describes TLS in transit, encryption at rest, role-based access, and database row-level security. Support is available through the contact page and at support@thumblore.com.

Pricing

Thumblore has a free plan and three monthly paid tiers. Paid-plan prices shown are $9, $24, and $45 per month; the plan display also gives reference prices of $10, $30, and $75 respectively. Credits cover both generation and editing, so heavier refinement can reduce the number of thumbnails a creator can produce.

Plan	Price and allowance	What it suits
Free	0.00 USD per free; 100 credits at signup, approximately 5 thumbnails, 1 saved avatar, plain-English editing, and exports with a Thumblore badge.	A no-card way to try the workflow, but the one-time signup credits and branded exports limit its usefulness for ongoing publishing.
Starter	9.00 USD per month; 700 credits per month, approximately 40 thumbnails, up to 10 saved avatars, 3 AI-generated avatars per month, Story/Short/Reel formats, no watermark, and HD exports.	The sensible entry tier for an individual creator who needs unbadged exports and a modest monthly volume. It gives up the larger avatar and generation allowances of higher plans.
Pro	24.00 USD per month; 2,000 credits per month, approximately 120 thumbnails, unlimited saved avatars, 20 AI-generated avatars per month, avatar swap, and pop-out in the editor.	Better for creators with several recurring faces or a larger publishing cadence; the added avatar tools and volume come at a substantial step up from Starter.
Studio	45.00 USD per month; 4,200 credits per month, approximately 240 thumbnails, unlimited avatars and AI generations, and the shortest wait on every generation.	For high-volume use where generation speed and removing avatar-generation caps matter. It costs nearly twice Pro, so lower-volume creators are unlikely to need it.

The free plan's 100 credits arrive once at signup, not as a monthly refill. Paid plans state monthly credit allowances, but the variable cost of each action means the approximate image counts are not guaranteed. Starter is the lowest paid tier with no-watermark HD exports; moving up buys more credits and avatar capacity rather than a different core workflow.

Platforms

Thumblore runs on the web. Its supported output destinations include YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories, and YouTube Community posts.

Who it's for

Thumblore fits creators who publish repeatedly, want recognizable faces across thumbnails, and prefer to direct edits in ordinary language rather than work through a design process. The free plan is useful for a short trial of the generation and editing flow; Starter is a clearer fit for regular publishing because it removes the badge and includes monthly credits. Creators who need predictable per-image costs, or only need occasional basic editing, may find the variable credit spend less attractive.

Pros and cons

Pros

Two options from one generation: gives creators a choice without requiring a separate design start.
Chat-based refinements: headline, color, and layout changes can be requested in plain English.
Reusable avatars: saved faces, including multiple faces in one thumbnail, support repeat visual identity.
Clear pre-action credit costs: users can see the spend before confirming each generation or edit.
Commercial use is allowed: users may use outputs commercially, subject to applicable law and model-provider rights.

Cons

Free credits are limited and one-time: 100 signup credits support only about five thumbnails, and free exports have a Thumblore badge.
Edits compete with generations for credits: substantial refinement can cut into the approximate output volume.
Avatar-generation allowances are tiered: Starter allows three AI-generated avatars monthly and Pro allows 20; unlimited generations require Studio.
Web only: creators seeking a native mobile app will need another option.

Alternatives

AI Thumbnail Generators and Video Thumbnail Makers are useful starting points for comparing tools across these categories.

Choose Thumbmagic if a plan centered on 100 thumbnails per month, one avatar, Starter templates, and AI editing better matches your workflow; its listed Starter plan is 17.00 USD per month, billed yearly, and it also offers a free plan and free trial. ThumbPocket is worth comparing if you prefer topping up credits: its listed 120-credit top-up costs 9.99 EUR once, with one credit per AI generation, alongside a free editor and Creator plan. Thumbsmith is a lower-priced alternative to consider if 80 HQ generations per month at 5.00 USD per month is a closer fit; its free plan includes three starter HQ credits and watermarked daily four-up previews. Thumix may suit a reader who wants credits that never expire: its Try plan is 1.99 USD per month for 20 credits, approximately 10 images, with commercial use included. Thumby is another freemium option, with web, iOS, and Android platforms. ThumbGen is a relevant comparison for readers prioritizing a larger free credit balance, since its free plan includes 150 credits, up to 18 thumbnails, up to 4K, and reference images. ThumbMaker and ThumbnailGo are also freemium web alternatives.

Verdict

Thumblore is a strong fit for recurring creators who want two automatic thumbnail options, conversational revisions, and reusable faces in one web workflow. Starter is the most practical paid choice for regular publishing, since it adds monthly credits and removes the free-plan badge. Look elsewhere if you need fixed per-thumbnail costs, mobile apps, or if the free plan's small one-time allowance is not enough to judge the tool.
