Overview

Credibled is a reference-check and candidate-verification service for employers, recruiters, and organizations that want to move reference outreach out of manual email follow-up. It is best suited to teams that need configurable questionnaires, ATS connections, or a pay-per-candidate workflow. Its Québec social-media screening restriction and lack of current SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certification may rule it out for some buyers.

Key features

Candidates submit their references, then Credibled handles outreach and sends reminders every 24 hours for up to 10 days. This reduces routine chasing while keeping the follow-up period bounded; teams that need a different reminder cadence or longer outreach window may find that constraint limiting.

Questionnaires can be tailored by industry, job title, or competency and combine text responses with ratings. Professional email validation and same-IP flags for candidates and referees provide signals to review, not a complete fraud determination. Completed checks can be exported as PDFs and emailed to employers, a straightforward handoff for teams that need to share results outside the platform.

Referee questionnaires can also collect leads for potential job seekers and clients and notify the requester by email. That may be useful to staffing firms looking to turn reference conversations into business development, but it is less relevant to employers using checks solely for hiring decisions.

Credibled connects with Bullhorn, JobAdder, and Vincere, and its API supports custom workflows, status-change webhooks, and separate sandbox and production keys. The free sandbox lets teams work with documentation and test without running real checks or incurring charges. Production data is hosted in AWS Canada Central and encrypted in transit and at rest. Credibled says it follows Canadian privacy law, principally PIPEDA and applicable provincial law, and FCRA-consistent practices for US checks; it is not currently SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certified and is working toward SOC 2.

Pricing

The API sandbox costs 0.00 USD per free and includes documentation and a sandbox key, but cannot run real checks. It suits teams assessing a custom API workflow before committing to paid screening.

The Automated reference check costs 9.00 CAD per once, billed per candidate, and covers all references completed for that candidate. There is no subscription, monthly fee, or minimum commitment, making it a sensible fit for employers with variable hiring volume. The NGO reference check costs 4.50 CAD per once for eligible non-profits through the NGO Program, which applies a 50% discount to reference checks.

Both paid options are per-check rather than recurring plans; the lower NGO rate is limited to eligible organizations. A free account is useful for API setup, but it does not replace paid checks.

Platforms

Credibled is available on web and through an API. The API, integrations, and webhook support are the stronger fit for organizations connecting checks to an existing hiring process; the web option serves teams that do not need to build a custom integration.

Who it's for

Staffing agencies, small and mid-sized businesses, regulated employers, non-profits, and startups are among Credibled’s intended users. Its configurable questions, ATS integrations, and per-candidate price suit teams that want structured references without a standing monthly charge. It is a weaker fit for Québec employers seeking social-media screening, or organizations that require a current SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certification.

Pros and cons

Pros: Automated outreach and reminders reduce manual follow-up, with a defined 10-day maximum window.
Pros: Custom questionnaires, PDF exports, and three named ATS integrations support structured checks and result handoffs.
Pros: Per-candidate pricing has no monthly fee or minimum commitment; eligible non-profits receive a discounted rate.
Cons: Social-media screening is unavailable in Québec.
Cons: Credibled is not currently SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certified, which matters to buyers with certification requirements.
Cons: The free sandbox cannot run real checks, so it is for technical evaluation rather than ongoing screening.

Alternatives

Reference Check Software is the broader category to explore when you want to compare providers rather than settle on Credibled.

Choose VerifyRef if a credit-based purchase model and a free trial matter: its 5-credit option is 33.00 USD per once, with credits that never expire, while Credibled charges per candidate in CAD and offers a free API sandbox. TurboCheck may suit teams seeking digital ID verification searches, with a 150.00 USD per month plan for up to 100 searches; Credibled focuses on references and candidate verification.

Careerlink AI-Powered SMS Reference Checker, HiPeople, OpusHire, RefAssured, RefNow, and VITAY are other options to compare. OpusHire quotes pricing against annual hiring volume and team requirements; RefNow is freemium.

Verdict

Credibled is a strong choice for organizations that want automated reference outreach, configurable questionnaires, ATS or API connections, and per-candidate pricing without a monthly commitment. Look elsewhere if Québec social-media screening or current SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certification is a requirement.
