Overview

SignUpGenius brings sign-up sheets, event tickets, fundraisers, dues and forms into a group-organizing service. It is most useful to schools, nonprofits, businesses and community organizers coordinating volunteers or participants through shared sign-ups. Its broad coordination toolkit is a strong fit for recurring group activities, though payment collection is restricted to U.S.-based users with U.S. bank accounts.

Key features

Organizers build sign-ups with a step-by-step wizard, hundreds of themes, recurring-event creation, custom questions and tabbed sign-ups. They can also duplicate or transfer past sign-ups, a practical shortcut for repeat events. Participants can join through one shared link without an account, while organizers who need tighter control can require accounts, set an access code or reject addresses outside an approved email group.

Automatic email and text reminders, scheduled invitations, confirmations and follow-up messages reduce routine chasing. Targeted group communications add flexibility for different participants. Volunteer-hours reports, Excel exports, payment reports and email delivery and click-through metrics help organizers monitor participation and outreach. Zapier connects sign-up data to web apps, and participants can sync events to calendars.

Payment pages accept credit cards and digital wallets with a 3.95% plus $0.95 convenience fee, or eChecks at 1.95% with a $1 minimum. Those charges can add up for groups collecting money, and the U.S.-only eligibility excludes international organizers and users without U.S. bank accounts.

The main service runs in a phone browser without requiring an app; a companion app for payments supports iOS and Android. API access is included with paid plans, with allowances of 500, 2,000 or 5,000 requests per day depending on plan, and a customized allowance for Enterprise.

Pricing

SignUpGenius uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a 10-day trial. Free costs 0.00 USD per free and allows unlimited sign-ups, making it a useful starting point for organizers whose main need is coordinating participation. The published plan details do not give a price for the paid tiers, so Silver, Gold, Platinum and Enterprise have custom pricing.

Silver includes one ad-free sign-up and two custom questions, a narrow upgrade for organizers wanting a more polished individual sign-up and limited form customization. Gold adds 10 administrators, while Platinum includes 20 administrators, suiting larger organizing teams that need shared management. Enterprise adds embedded sign-ups, portal pages, dedicated account management and customized limits for organizations needing a more tailored deployment. Premium subscribers can receive priority email and phone support, plus tutorials and FAQs; all users receive email support.

Payment fees apply separately: credit cards and digital wallets cost 3.95% plus $0.95, and eChecks cost 1.95% with a $1 minimum. Payment functionality is limited to users based in the U.S. with U.S. bank accounts.

Platforms

SignUpGenius supports web, Android, iOS and API access. The primary service works in a phone browser without an app requirement, while the payment companion app is available on iOS and Android. Paid-plan API access is capped at 500, 2,000 or 5,000 requests per day according to plan, with a customized Enterprise allowance.

Who it's for

Schools, nonprofits, businesses, communities and everyday organizers can use SignUpGenius to coordinate shifts, volunteer self-sign-ups, events and collections. It is particularly well suited to groups that repeat activities and benefit from reusable sign-ups, automated reminders and volunteer-hours reporting. Groups that need payment collection outside the U.S., or that cannot work within the payment fees, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros

Unlimited sign-ups on the free plan give organizers room to coordinate multiple activities without a sign-up quota.
Recurring events and duplication or transfer of earlier sign-ups can reduce repeated setup work.
Reminders, follow-ups, reporting and exports combine participant coordination with useful tracking.
Participants can sign up from a shared link without an account, while optional access controls let organizers restrict participation.

Cons

Payment tools are unavailable to users outside the U.S. or without U.S. bank accounts.
Credit card and digital-wallet payments carry a 3.95% plus $0.95 convenience fee; eChecks cost 1.95% with a $1 minimum.
Paid plan prices are custom pricing, making it harder for small groups to compare upgrade costs in advance.
