Overview

ValueStream by MapVS is a value stream mapping tool for teams that need to document processes and improve how work flows. It suits Lean practitioners, process engineers, consultants, and improvement teams; its breadth of capture and analysis tools is appealing, but the Free plan is tightly capped and paid-plan pricing needs confirming.

The platform supports up to 10 value streams. MapVS was founded in 2025 and is headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Key features

Process capture and mapping

Teams can gather process information through web and guided recording, Gemba walks, video analysis, photo digitization, or CSV, Excel, and ERP imports. That range is useful when a mapping effort combines direct observation with existing operational data. The canvas offers 47 shapes and 12 connection types, with Lean calculations updating as a map is built. Video analysis quotas vary by plan, so it may not suit teams that need unrestricted review of recorded work.

Analysis and improvement

ValueStream calculates Lean metrics and offers bottleneck detection, waste classification, AI suggestions, and Monte Carlo simulation. These tools support both diagnosing a current process and considering changes, though the Free plan excludes simulation and What-If. Teams that need to model alternatives should budget for a paid plan.

Templates, integrations, and API

More than 1,000 templates cover 33 industries, giving teams a substantial starting library. The marketplace lists 23 connectors, including Jira, Slack, Teams, Zapier, SAP, and ServiceNow, but integrations are limited to Pro and above. A REST API with OpenAPI documentation and webhook support offers another route for connecting workflows.

Pricing

ValueStream uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a 14-day trial. Paid access is advertised from $9/mo, but published plan prices are not supplied for the named tiers, so confirm the cost and trial terms before choosing a plan.

Free — free, billed Forever free: Two maps with up to five stages each, three basic templates, limited web recorder access, and 50 MB storage. It excludes simulation and What-If. This is suitable for a small evaluation, not a multi-process improvement program.
Starter — custom pricing: Billed monthly, with 10 maps, unlimited stages, 1,000+ templates, five video analyses per month (Beta), and 1 GB storage. It expands mapping capacity while keeping video analysis and storage modest.
Pro — custom pricing: Billed monthly, with unlimited maps and imports, DES simulation, desktop recorder for Windows, Mac, and Linux, 20 video analyses per month (Beta), and 10 GB storage. It is the tier for teams needing simulation and larger mapping capacity.
Team — custom pricing: Five seats are included, with each additional seat at +$6.99/mo. It includes everything in Pro, team workspaces and roles, 50 video analyses per month (Beta), and 35 GB storage. This is the clearest fit for collaborative teams, though the extra-seat rate matters as headcount grows.
Enterprise — custom annual pricing: Minimum 10 seats, everything in Team, SSO/SAML, data region selection, dedicated support, custom integrations, and 100 GB+ storage. It targets larger organizations that need those controls and support.

All plans include email support; Enterprise adds dedicated support. Free storage and map caps are material constraints, while paid plans have distinct video quotas. The Free plan is billed Forever free; the other tiers are described as monthly or custom annual, and no renewal terms are provided.

Platforms

ValueStream supports iOS, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows. Its iPhone and iPad app supports offline recording, photos, NFC scanning, GPS tracking, and analytics, and is available through iOS TestFlight for iOS 16 and later. The Windows, Mac, and Linux desktop recorder is marked Coming Soon on the Apps page, despite being included in Pro; teams relying on desktop recording should verify availability before subscribing.

MapVS describes encryption at rest and in transit, Australian Privacy Act compliance, and GDPR readiness. Formal SOC 2 Type II certification is on its 2027 roadmap. Data is stored on DigitalOcean infrastructure in Sydney, and deleted account data is permanently purged within 30 days.

Who it's for

ValueStream is a strong candidate for Lean practitioners, process engineers, consultants, and improvement teams that need a shared path from process capture to analysis. Its template library, varied capture options, and live Lean calculations are particularly relevant to structured mapping work. A solo user can start free, but the two-map cap and lack of simulation make that tier better for exploration than ongoing program management. Organizations that require desktop recording now, confirmed paid pricing, or formal SOC 2 Type II certification should weigh those gaps carefully.

Pros and cons

Pro: Multiple capture methods, including Gemba walks and ERP imports, suit teams that combine field observation with operational data.
Pro: Live Lean calculations, bottleneck detection, waste classification, and simulation support analysis beyond drawing maps.
Pro: More than 1,000 templates across 33 industries provide a broad starting point for different process contexts.
Con: Free is limited to two maps, five stages per map, three templates, and 50 MB, restricting its use for sustained work.
Con: Integration marketplace access begins at Pro, and video analyses remain quota-limited across paid tiers.
Con: The desktop recorder is marked Coming Soon, and Enterprise is the only tier with SSO/SAML and data region selection.
Con: Named paid tiers have custom pricing, making direct budget comparison difficult before contacting MapVS.
