Overview

Connecteam brings workforce coordination, team communication and employee training into one product for deskless teams. It is strongest for employers who want staff scheduling and operational tools alongside HR and communication features, rather than a standalone rota planner. Its hub-based approach offers breadth, but teams that need to work offline will need another option.

Key features

Operations and scheduling

The Operations Hub combines a time clock and job scheduling with forms and quick tasks. Scheduling supports auto-scheduling, availability collection, time-off management, open shifts and shift swaps, which can help managers coordinate changing coverage without separating those tasks from daily operations. The trade-off is that Connecteam requires an internet connection, so it is a poor fit for staff who need dependable offline access.

Communication and HR

The Communications Hub brings together chat, updates, a directory, surveys, events, a knowledge base and a help desk. That range suits organizations that want routine announcements and staff questions in the same workplace app. The HR & Skills Hub adds time off, courses, quizzes, documents, recognition, rewards, hiring, onboarding and an org chart. Together, the hubs cover more than scheduling, though businesses that need only shift planning may not need this breadth.

Integrations and security

Connecteam lists integrations with ADP Workforce Now, Gusto, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Bamboo HR, Lightspeed Restaurant K series, Square and Wix. It also describes API keys, Zapier API-key authentication, webhooks and OAuth 2.0 for connecting systems and transferring data. Connecteam says it complies with GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2 and CCPA, with data centers in Germany (AWS) and the Netherlands (MS Azure).

Pricing

Businesses with fewer than 10 employees can use the free Small Business Plan. The separate pricing entry labels its free plan Limited, at 0.00 USD per free, with limited feature access; the free plan is therefore most relevant to small teams willing to accept restricted access. A 14-day free trial is available without a credit card.

For a single hub, Operations Hub Basic, HR & Skills Hub Basic and Communications Hub Basic each cost 29.00 USD per month billed yearly for the first 30 users. Additional users cost 0.8/month each on Operations Hub Basic and 0.5/month each on the HR & Skills and Communications Hub Basic plans. These entry plans are a clearer fit for teams that know which area they need; costs rise with users beyond the included 30.

Other listed tiers are Basic at 35.00 USD per month, Advanced at 59.00 USD per month and Expert at 119.00 USD per month, each for the first 30 users. Enterprise has custom pricing and includes single sign-on and increased API rate limits. The listed prices do not state a billing term for these three tiers, so compare the hub-specific annual plans with care rather than assuming they are equivalent.

Platforms

Connecteam supports Android, iOS, web and API access, and is optimized for smartphones and desktop computers. It supports Android 6.0 or later and iOS 15.5 or later. The lack of offline use matters most for mobile work in locations with unreliable connectivity.

Who it's for

Connecteam suits deskless businesses that want scheduling, timekeeping, communications and HR tools under one roof, especially those with fewer than 10 employees that can use the free Small Business Plan. It is less compelling for businesses seeking only a basic scheduler, or teams whose work regularly takes them out of internet coverage.

Pros and cons

Pros: Scheduling, time clock, forms and tasks sit alongside communication and HR tools, giving managers one product for several workforce needs.
Pros: Basic hub plans include the first 30 users, with stated per-user charges for additional users.
Pros: Integrations and API options support connections to payroll, accounting and other listed services.
Cons: Offline use is not supported, limiting usefulness where staff cannot count on an internet connection.
Cons: The free Small Business Plan is restricted to businesses with fewer than 10 employees, while the other free-plan listing describes limited feature access.
Cons: Teams needing multiple hubs may find single-hub Basic pricing does not match their needs; Enterprise pricing is custom.

Alternatives

Choose 7shifts if its free Comp plan's 15-employee, one-location cap fits your operation, or if its Essentials plan's 30-employee limit and unlimited locations matter. Findmyshift is worth considering for a very small team that can work within its free plan's five team members, one manager and one week of historical data and forward planning. Shiftbase offers a free forever plan for up to 15 employees and a single department, while Sling's free plan supports up to 30 users and includes shift scheduling, time-off requests and private messaging. Consider Aladtec if you want a paid option with pricing provided through a demo request; Legion Workforce Management, PARiM and Rotaready Evo are other options to compare.

Verdict

Connecteam is a strong fit for deskless employers who want staff scheduling, timekeeping, communication and HR functions in one app, with hub-based plans that let smaller teams start with one area. Its breadth is the main reason to choose it; the need for constant connectivity and the added cost of users beyond 30 are the main reasons to look elsewhere.
