Overview

CloudQA brings functional, performance, security, API and accessibility testing into a platform that also supports live browser testing, real-device testing and visual regression. That breadth can help teams cover different testing needs in one place, while its recorder offers a practical starting point for creating repeatable browser tests. The main dividing line is execution: free users run locally, and cloud execution starts on the paid Scale Up plan.

CloudQA says it was established in 2015 to address testing challenges in complex web applications. Synthetic monitoring and native mobile apps require separate licensing, so teams should account for those needs separately rather than assume they are part of the core plan.

Key features

Recorded and data-driven checks: The recorder captures clicks, typing and dropdown selections as repeatable test cases. Multiple datasets and environment switching make those cases more reusable across inputs and deployment contexts.
AI maintenance and triage: CloudQA says its AI can repair broken locators after minor interface changes and summarize test failure reasons. That could ease upkeep and investigation, but the repair capability is described for minor UI changes rather than broad redesigns.
Broad integrations: Documentation covers Slack, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, Confluence, TestRail, Jira, Jenkins, Travis CI, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, GitHub and GCP. Slack failure notifications are limited to scheduled test suites and TruMonitor workflows, which narrows their usefulness for ad hoc runs.
Support and safeguards: Pricing information includes email, screen-sharing and in-app chat support; QA-as-a-Service adds premium priority support. CloudQA says payments use a PCI-certified processor and card data is not stored on its systems. Its privacy policy describes physical, electronic and managerial safeguards and says collected information is processed and stored on computers in the United States.

Pricing

CloudQA has a free plan and paid plans. The free Kickstart plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes automated test creation, local execution, unlimited API tests, seven days of test history and Chrome. That is a useful no-cost starting point for individuals and small projects, but local execution and short history limit its fit for teams needing shared cloud runs or longer-term investigation.

Scale Up is 11999.00 USD per month when billed monthly; annual pricing is $99/m with 15% savings. It includes Kickstart, unlimited cloud executions subject to fair use, scheduling, custom JavaScript steps, one month of test history and optional parallel executions. This is the relevant step up for growing teams that need scheduled cloud testing, though fair use qualifies the unlimited-run promise and parallel execution is optional.

QA-as-a-Service has custom pricing. It includes Scale Up plus expert-led test design and maintenance, custom test volumes, a dedicated account manager and premium priority support. Startups, scale-ups and enterprises seeking managed QA may value that added service; teams wanting only a testing platform can avoid paying for managed work by choosing another tier.

A free trial is available. The plan terms that matter most are the free tier's local-only automated execution and seven-day history, and the fair-use condition on Scale Up cloud runs.

Platforms

CloudQA supports API, Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web and Windows. Its stated device coverage spans desktop and mobile, and the platform includes live browser and real-device testing. Native mobile apps nevertheless require separate licensing.

Who it's for

Kickstart suits individuals and small projects that can work with local execution and brief test history. Scale Up is better for growing teams that need scheduled cloud runs, custom JavaScript steps or more history. QA-as-a-Service is aimed at startups, scale-ups and enterprises that want expert-led test design and maintenance. CloudQA is less suitable when native mobile apps or synthetic monitoring must be included without separate licensing, or when cloud execution is needed at no cost.

Pros and cons

Pro: The recorder, dataset support and environment switching give teams several ways to create and reuse repeatable tests without treating every input or environment as a separate workflow.
Pro: Coverage spans five testing types, with live browser testing, real-device testing and visual regression also supported.
Pro: Scale Up combines scheduling, custom JavaScript steps and cloud runs, while QA-as-a-Service adds managed test design and maintenance.
Con: Free automated execution is local, with only seven days of test history; teams needing cloud runs must move to a paid plan.
Con: Scale Up cloud executions are subject to fair use, and native mobile apps and synthetic monitoring need separate licensing.
Con: Slack failure notifications do not cover every workflow; they are limited to scheduled test suites and TruMonitor.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Browser Testing Software and Test Automation Software.

DiffiCat is a free option for readers focused on visual comparison who want desktop-app use without usage limits, alongside browser quotas.
Percy is worth considering when screenshot-based browser testing across web, Android and iOS is the priority, with paid annual plans offering monthly screenshot quotas.
Selenium is a free, open-source choice for readers who want browser automation tools and libraries across Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web and Windows.
Happo may suit teams prioritizing visual and accessibility testing, with a free tier that includes 5,000 snapshots per month and Chrome.
Screenster is another freemium option for readers weighing local and cloud test-run quotas per tester.
Argos is an alternative for teams seeking an open-source, MIT-licensed SDK and platform for visual and snapshot testing.
BackstopJS is a free, open-source MIT-licensed project for readers who want a tool installable with npm.
Chromatic may be a better fit for web teams comparing snapshot-based plans, including paid tiers with billed snapshot quotas and browser coverage.

Verdict

Choose CloudQA if you want recorded, data-driven tests across several testing types and expect to need scheduled cloud execution or managed QA as your work grows. Its free local tier makes starting straightforward, but the key reason to look elsewhere is a requirement for included cloud runs at no cost, or for native mobile and synthetic monitoring without separate licensing.
