Overview

Langua makes conversation practice available 24/7, with activities ranging from roleplays and debates to vocabulary practice and discussions tailored to a learner’s interests. That breadth can make it easier to practise different kinds of expression than a single-format speaking tool. It is less suited to learners who want a fixed sequence of lessons: its emphasis is conversation and review.

Langua offers 23 languages, with multiple dialects available for many. Subscriptions work on web, iOS, and Android, and progress syncs across devices, so learners can switch between platforms without losing their place. For web use, Langua recommends Google Chrome because it handles voice technology most reliably.

Key features

Conversation and feedback

Correction styles, personalized grammar drills, conversation feedback reports, audio summaries, and transcripts with click-to-translate words give learners several ways to revisit a conversation. This review loop is a real strength for people who want to turn speaking mistakes into focused study. It may be more than a casual user needs, and the free allowance limits how much practice that user can do.

Vocabulary and content

Learners can save words, review them with spaced-repetition flashcards, and generate stories featuring saved vocabulary. Level-matched podcasts and videos add listening material, while imported content can be studied with interactive transcripts synchronized to audio. These tools suit learners who want to build study around their interests or existing material, rather than rely solely on prepared conversation prompts.

Privacy and age

Chat transcripts are stored securely in the account and can be deleted by the user. Voice recordings are not stored unless recording is enabled in Settings. Contracted providers may process conversation content to provide, evaluate, or improve Langua, but are restricted from selling it, using it for advertising, or training shared models for other customers. Langua is intended for people aged 13 and above; users aged 13–17 need parental or guardian permission. AI content is moderated, though the company does not guarantee that every response will be appropriate.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 3 minutes of Call Mode per day and approximately 20 standard chat messages per week. That is enough to start a conversation, but too limited for a learner seeking frequent speaking practice.

Standard has a monthly billing option, with custom pricing, and allows up to 75 regular chat messages and 30 minutes of Call Mode per day. It fits learners who need a regular daily practice window but do not need unlimited conversation. Unlimited is also custom pricing; it markets unlimited conversation practice, but its terms set a fair-use allowance of 350 AI chat messages per day. That is a substantial ceiling for most practice routines, but not literally unlimited messaging.

Customized organization plans start at 500.00 USD per month and are aimed at schools, universities, and companies. A Pro trial requires a payment card and lasts 5 days on a monthly plan or 7 days on an annual plan. Check the trial terms before starting, particularly if you do not want a paid subscription to follow the trial.

Platforms

Langua has web, iOS, and Android access, with subscriptions and progress syncing across devices. The Chrome recommendation matters most to learners relying on browser voice practice; mobile apps are the alternative when practising away from a computer.

Who it's for

Langua is a good fit for independent learners who want flexible speaking practice, feedback, and ways to review vocabulary or their own listening material. It is less compelling for someone who needs a generous free plan, a fixed lesson curriculum, or a voice tool without a card-required trial.

Pros and cons

Pro: Several conversation formats, including roleplays, debates, and interest-based discussions, support varied speaking practice.
Pro: Feedback, transcripts, flashcards, and saved-word stories connect conversation to review.
Pro: Imported content with audio-synced transcripts gives learners a way to work with material they choose.
Con: Free Call Mode is limited to 3 minutes daily, with approximately 20 standard chat messages weekly.
Con: The Pro trial requires a payment card, and Standard and Unlimited have custom pricing.
Con: Browser voice use is most reliable in Google Chrome, which may be inconvenient for users committed to another browser.

Alternatives

Talkpal is worth considering for learners who want AI language practice across web and mobile but prefer a free daily allowance stated as 10 minutes. ELSA Speak is a mobile option for learners who want to begin with the first two lessons of its topics free and consider an annual Premium plan priced at 159.99 USD per year. AI Tutor may suit learners seeking a broader tutoring app: its free Starter allowance includes 30 minutes, one quiz, and one material upload, though it is available on Android and iOS rather than web. Lucida AI is another freemium mobile option; some features require a subscription, with the price shown in the app before payment. Aristotle may fit users seeking voice tutoring across subjects on web, with three one-hour sessions in its free Intro plan and a 49.00 USD monthly Scholar plan for eight sessions each month. KORA Tutor is a web alternative with a free starting plan and a 29.99 USD per year Pro plan. LINAOI offers a free mobile plan with five lessons per day, basic pronunciation practice, and one AI Tutor. KI-ENNA education is a free web alternative. For more options, browse AI Tutoring Apps, AI Language Learning Apps, or Language learning apps.

Verdict

Choose Langua if you want flexible AI conversation practice backed by substantial feedback, vocabulary review, and content tools across devices. Its main advantage is the path from speaking to review; its main drawback is that free practice is tightly capped and the Pro trial asks for a card. Learners who need a generous free allowance or a structured lesson course should look elsewhere.
