Overview

Checkout.com is a business payments platform for accepting customer payments and disbursing funds across markets. It is best suited to businesses that need broad payment coverage, marketplace or recurring payment support, and a choice of integration routes. Its breadth is a strength, but custom pricing makes it a less straightforward choice for buyers who need predictable, published rates.

Key features

Payment acceptance across markets

Checkout.com supports more than 150 processing currencies and local acquiring in over 50 countries. Businesses can accept major card schemes, direct debits, vouchers, digital wallets, and bank transfers, as well as handle recurring and marketplace payments. This range is valuable for businesses with international customers or varied payment needs; a business operating in one market with a narrow set of requirements may not need the full scope.

Payment optimization and fraud management

Intelligent Acceptance uses an AI engine to optimize payments, with the aim of increasing conversions and captured revenue. Fraud Detection combines network intelligence, machine-learning risk scores, transaction rules, and allow and block lists. Its Pro tier adds advanced controls and analytics, which may suit organizations with more demanding fraud workflows, though those capabilities sit within a broader tailored-pricing offer.

Integration and support

Businesses can connect through Flow, ecommerce platform plugins, Android and iOS SDKs, APIs, or hosted payment pages. The partner directory includes Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and Salesforce Commerce Cloud. That choice lets businesses align integration with their commerce setup rather than rely on one route. Checkout.com says its Solution Engineering team guides customers through integration and provides live monitoring after launch. Merchant support covers technical issues and strategic advice, while a Dashboard AI agent is available 24/7.

Security

Checkout.com states that it is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant and that its systems are ISO 27001 certified. Those credentials will matter to businesses assessing payment security requirements, though they do not remove the need to evaluate fit with an organization's own compliance obligations.

Pricing

Checkout.com uses paid, tailored pricing based on a business profile and risk category. There are no setup fees or account maintenance fees, and risk and fraud management tools are included. Because the core price is custom, buyers should request a quote to understand their likely costs before comparing it with a fixed-rate option.

Registered charities can access free payment processing in countries where Checkout.com operates, at 0.00 USD per free. This is a specific charity offer rather than a general free plan for businesses. The other plan, Tailored pricing, has no published price; its fit depends on the business profile and risk category. No seat, quota, trial, or renewal terms are provided.

Platforms

Checkout.com supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. Mobile SDKs are available for Android and iOS, alongside plugins and hosted payment pages for other integration needs.

Who it's for

Checkout.com is a strong candidate for businesses that need international payment reach, multiple local payment methods, marketplace or recurring payments, and flexibility in how they integrate. Its support and fraud tools add value for organizations managing complex payment operations. Smaller or simpler operations that prioritize transparent, upfront pricing may prefer to compare alternatives before committing to a sales-led quote.

Pros and cons

Broad international coverage: More than 150 processing currencies and local acquiring in over 50 countries support businesses serving customers across markets.
Multiple ways to pay and integrate: Cards, local methods, recurring and marketplace payments, SDKs, plugins, and hosted pages offer flexibility across commerce models.
Built-in payment and fraud tools: Intelligent Acceptance and Fraud Detection combine optimization and risk controls, with additional controls and analytics in the Pro tier.
Custom pricing reduces price transparency: Businesses need a quote to judge expected costs, despite the absence of setup and account maintenance fees.

Alternatives

Stax Connect is another paid option with pricing available by contacting sales. NMI is a paid alternative available on Android, API, iOS, Linux, web, and Windows. DreamPay is paid and supports web, iOS, and Android. Flute Embedded Payments is paid and supports web and Android. WePay is paid and supports web, iOS, and Android.

Consider Finix if you want a published monthly membership fee: its Direct Merchants — Standard plan costs 250.00 USD per month, with transaction and other fees also applying. It has no free plan. Payabli is a paid, web-based alternative.

Verdict

Choose Checkout.com if your business needs broad international payment coverage, flexible integrations, and tools for marketplace, recurring, and fraud-managed payments. Its main advantage is bringing those capabilities together; its main reason to look elsewhere is custom pricing that requires a quote before costs can be compared.
