Overview

A visual flow builder and AI bot generation support bot creation; knowledge-base answers and human handoff cover the path from automated replies to human assistance. Shared omnichannel inboxes and collaboration tools make ChatbotX more than a bot-building tool, particularly for teams handling conversations across several channels.

Self-hosting lets operators run the system on their own infrastructure and control their data. The platform can also be white-labeled and resold, a meaningful distinction for agencies building client offerings. Its main trade-off is that paid plans cap channels and team members as well as bot messages, so those limits matter alongside price.

Key features

Bot creation and responses: The visual builder suits teams that want to shape flows directly, while AI generation offers another creation route. Knowledge-base answers can handle routine questions, with human handoff for cases that need a person.
Channels: Supported options include WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Zalo, TikTok, Email, and Webchat. This range can support a broad customer-facing presence, though Lite and Pro restrict how many channels can be used.
Team operations: Collaboration tools and shared omnichannel inboxes support joint handling. The two-member Lite allowance is restrictive for a growing team; Pro raises it to five, while Whitelabel and Enterprise allow unlimited team members.
Integrations: API, CLI, MCP, OpenClaw, n8n, and Make connections give developers and automation-focused teams several integration paths.
Message counting: A bot message includes sends, typing indicators, delay steps, and external API calls, not just messages delivered to a user. That broad definition can make paid quotas run down faster than a simple sent-message count suggests.

Pricing

Pricing is based on bot messages; contacts are unlimited across the plans. Managed cloud plans require a credit card for the trial, but no charge is made during it. Users can cancel before the trial ends or at any time from the dashboard.

Community — $0 /Month: Self-hosted, with one workspace, unlimited bot messages, contacts, channels, team admins, and AI agents. It is the strongest fit for individuals and hobbyists who can manage their own hosting; it avoids a message ceiling but is not the managed-cloud option.
Lite — $29 /Month: One workspace, 10,000 bot messages, unlimited contacts, five channels, and two team members, with a 14-day free trial. It fits creators and small teams with modest traffic and a compact roster. The message quota and two-seat cap are the constraints to watch.
Pro — $49 /Month: One workspace, 100,000 bot messages, unlimited contacts, 10 channels, and five team members, with a 7-day free trial. It gives power freelancers and solo marketers more headroom than Lite, but the five-person limit and channel cap still constrain larger operations.
Whitelabel — $299 /Month: 20 workspaces, 2,000,000 bot messages, unlimited contacts, channels, and team members, with a 7-day free trial. The workspace and resale-oriented white-label capacity make it the relevant tier for growing agencies; it is a large step up in price from Pro.
Enterprise — $299 /Month: Unlimited workspaces, bot messages, contacts, channels, and team members, plus audit logs. The absence of usage and workspace caps suits larger operations, though this price is the same as Whitelabel despite a different emphasis.

Stripe checkout supports Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and JCB. The price is billed monthly for each paid tier.

Platforms

ChatbotX is self-hosted. That is a good fit for organizations that want infrastructure and data control, but it means deployment is not simply a matter of choosing a web or mobile app platform.

Who it's for

Choose ChatbotX if you want a self-hosted, open-source platform with broad channel coverage, shared inboxes, and an option to white-label and resell. Community is particularly attractive to technically capable individuals who want unlimited bot messages without a subscription. Small teams can start on Lite, while agencies have a direct route to multiple client workspaces.

Look elsewhere if your team needs more than five seats or 10 channels on a lower-cost paid plan, or if the broad definition of a billable bot message makes quota planning uncomfortable. Self-hosting also makes ChatbotX less suitable for buyers who do not want to operate their own infrastructure.

Pros and cons

Pro: Community includes unlimited bot messages, channels, contacts, and AI agents, making the free self-hosted tier substantial for experimentation and personal use.
Pro: White-labeling, resale, and 20 workspaces on Whitelabel give agencies a practical way to serve multiple clients.
Pro: Human handoff, shared inboxes, and support for eight named channels connect automation with team handling.
Con: Lite and Pro cap team members at two and five respectively, which can force a growing team into a much more expensive tier.
Con: Typing indicators, delays, and external API calls count toward message quotas, so the paid allowance is not limited to user-facing sends.
Con: Managed-cloud trials require a credit card, even though they do not charge during the trial.

Alternatives

Browse Chatbot Builders for a broader category comparison. Consider Amazon Lex if pay-as-you-go text-request pricing and Android, iOS, API, or web platforms suit your deployment better. IBM watsonx Assistant is an option if you want a freemium alternative with API, self-hosted, and web platforms; its free Lite plan allows five skills per instance, with unused skills potentially deleted after 30 days of inactivity. Yellow.ai may fit buyers seeking web or mobile availability and a free tier with one AI agent and 500 monthly inclusions, subject to its two-agent limit.

Chatbase is another freemium option, with a free tier of 50 message credits per month and one member. AiSensy offers a free tier with fair-use limits on agents, tags, attributes, and segments. Rasa may suit a web-focused user whose free developer edition's cap of one bot and 1,000 external conversations per month is adequate. Gupshup is worth considering when a messaging-fee model of 0.001 USD per message, plus WhatsApp fees at actuals, fits better. Chat Data is a freemium alternative with API, self-hosted, and web platforms and a free tier that includes 100 message credits per month.

Verdict

ChatbotX is a strong fit for self-hosters and agencies that value infrastructure control, broad channel support, and an unlimited-message free tier. Its clearest reason to choose it is the combination of self-hosting and client-ready white-label capacity. Look elsewhere if you need a low-cost plan for a larger team or want quotas based only on messages actually sent to customers.
