Overview

Cegid Retail is a point-of-sale and unified-commerce platform for specialty retailers coordinating commerce, stock and store work across channels. It suits retailers managing multiple locations and needs more than checkout alone. Its breadth is attractive, but custom pricing and a demo-led buying process make it harder to assess upfront.

Centralized inventory provides a real-time stock view, while mobile dashboards help teams track performance and KPIs. Store Excellence combines operational tasks and communications, and an AI-enhanced app brings retail operations and task management together. Cegid does not detail the AI functions, so buyers should confirm how they apply to their workflows.

Wallet integrations cover gift cards, vouchers, coupons and loyalty programmes through Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Cegid Retail mPOS integrates with Shopify for online product cataloguing and shares customer, stock and sales information. For electronic payment connectors, Cegid Retail Y2 provides a standard API layer, though connector availability depends on the payment provider and scope of use.

Cegid says more than 1,000 retailers and 85,000 stores globally use the platform. It reports a 30% sales increase and an 80% reduction in inventory-counting time; these are reported gains, not guaranteed outcomes.

Key features

Omnichannel operations: Customer data, inventory and store operations are brought together across local and worldwide channels. This is useful for retailers trying to keep store and online activity aligned, but the breadth may be more than a single-location shop needs.
Inventory and reporting: Centralized stock management, inventory tools and sales reporting support multi-location oversight. Offline mode is also supported, an advantage for store operations that cannot depend on continuous connectivity.
Store teamwork: Task management, operational communications and team collaboration sit alongside sales and inventory. Mobile dashboards let teams analyze KPIs; the consolidated approach can reduce the need to coordinate store work across separate systems.
Wallet and payment connections: Apple Wallet and Google Wallet integrations cover stored value and loyalty offers. The Y2 payment API provides a standard connector layer, but provider and use-case dependencies mean buyers should validate specific payment connections.
Security and support: Cegid describes the platform as secure and compliant. For Cegid Retail Y2, it cites an ISAE 3402–SOC 1 Type 1 report audited by Forvis Mazars, plus ISO 27001 and MLPS certifications. Customer support is available.

Pricing

Cegid Retail is paid software with custom pricing; buyers need to request a demo and pricing. There is no free plan, and no trial or refund terms are stated. That sales-led route is reasonable for a broad retail platform requiring a tailored quote, but it offers no published figure for budgeting or quick comparison.

The Cegid Retail plan has no published price. No plan tiers, seat limits or usage quotas are provided, so buyers should ask about deployment scope, location and user costs, as well as implementation and contract terms, before comparing quotes.

Platforms

Cegid Retail supports Android, iOS, Windows, web, API and self-hosted environments. Hardware support covers both categories, and mobile platforms are supported. The range suits retailers with mixed store and back-office environments, although buyers should confirm compatibility with their own devices and integrations.

Who it's for

This is a stronger fit for specialty retailers that need centralized inventory, multi-location operations and coordination between store teams and wider commerce channels. Retailers prioritizing mobile KPI visibility, wallet-based loyalty or shared operational tasks may also find its scope relevant. A small shop seeking only a straightforward checkout or a buyer needing transparent self-service pricing should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unifies customer data, stock and store operations across channels, which can help multi-location retailers maintain a more connected view of commerce.
Pro: Combines inventory, sales reporting, mobile dashboards and store tasks, giving teams operational and performance tools within one platform.
Pro: Supports wallet integrations and a Shopify mPOS connection, extending the platform beyond in-store checkout.
Con: Custom pricing and a demo request make cost assessment less direct than a published price list.
Con: AI capabilities are described broadly without specific functions, so buyers must establish their practical value during evaluation.
Con: Payment connector availability depends on provider and use case, which can complicate integration planning.

Verdict

Cegid Retail is best suited to specialty retailers that need commerce, inventory and store operations coordinated across locations. Its main reason to choose is the breadth of those connected retail workflows, including mobile reporting and store task management. Look elsewhere if you need a simple checkout product or must compare prices before engaging a sales team.
