Overview

BlueKing CMDB is an enterprise configuration-management platform for organizing asset and application data. It is best suited to organizations that can deploy and operate their own infrastructure and shape a configuration model around it. Its discovery and modeling breadth is compelling, but the no-login open-source edition disables user management, limiting its fit where authenticated access is essential.

Key features

Teams can extend built-in attributes and create models and relationships for networks, middleware, and virtual resources. This flexibility can represent an environment more accurately than a fixed asset template, but it also calls for people who can design and maintain those models.

Machine-data snapshots, automatic discovery, and proactive change-event pushes help keep records aligned with infrastructure changes. Host records include basic attributes, snapshots, and ownership relationships; business-based organizational management and module-based host process management connect assets to operational structures. Service and dependency mapping, discovery imports, and ownership tracking round out the configuration-management capabilities.

Events are registered and pushed through callbacks. User-group-based permissions and operation auditing offer controls and traceability, but the open-source version disables user management because it runs without login. That makes those controls a poor substitute for authenticated, individually managed access.

The project uses a microservice architecture with a Go backend and Vue.js frontend. Deployment depends on ZooKeeper, Redis, and MongoDB; Elasticsearch and Monstache are needed for full-text search. It can be deployed independently, with container instructions for Windows, macOS, and Linux Docker environments. The MIT license and documentation, wiki, forum, video tutorials, and QQ technical groups give operators community resources, though deployment still means taking responsibility for the service and its dependencies.

Pricing

Plan	Price	Includes
Community Edition	0.00 USD per free, billed 永久免费	One-click deployment, automated operations, user community, and documentation
Partner enterprise services	Custom pricing	Expert customization, 7*24h dedicated service, enterprise integration, and internal training

The Community Edition is the fit for teams that want a free, self-deployed platform and can work around its no-login limitation. Partner enterprise services target organizations needing customization, integration, or dedicated support; pricing is custom. No seat quotas, trial duration, or renewal terms are provided by either plan.

Platforms

BlueKing CMDB supports API, Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows environments. On-premises deployment suits organizations that need to operate the platform within their own infrastructure; the listed dependencies and container deployment instructions make technical ownership part of that choice.

Who it's for

Choose BlueKing CMDB if your organization needs adaptable asset and application models, automated discovery, host ownership tracking, and change events, and has the capacity to deploy and maintain a multi-service system. Look elsewhere if your requirements depend on user login and managed accounts in the open-source edition, or if you want an asset tool without responsibility for its deployment and dependencies.

Pros and cons

Pros: Extensible models and relationships can cover networks, middleware, and virtual resources rather than forcing a single asset structure.
Pros: Discovery, snapshots, ownership tracking, and change-event pushes help keep configuration records connected to operational change.
Pros: The Community Edition is permanently free, and the MIT license permits open-source use.
Cons: The open-source no-login design disables user management, a material constraint for organizations that require authenticated access.
Cons: ZooKeeper, Redis, and MongoDB are deployment dependencies, with extra components for full-text search, so operators must account for system upkeep.

Alternatives

Browse CMDB software to compare more options. CMDBuild is another free, self-hosted open-source option, but it requires server setup and its stated plan excludes data models, workflows, reports, and dashboards. teemIP is worth considering for a free, forever community option with open-source code, downloads, and community resources.

GLPI may suit teams seeking a hosted public-cloud plan: it starts at 19.00 EUR per month per IT agent, with a minimum of one billed agent, and includes 5 GB disk and 20 MB maximum attachments. Hornbill IT Asset Management offers personalized pricing tailored to requirements and scalable packages. ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus is an alternative for teams seeking a paid IT help desk plan, with Standard at 13.00 USD per month and Professional at 27.00 USD per month.

OpenText Universal Discovery and CMDB is a paid, self-hosted option with pricing based on environment and deployment needs. USU Knowledge Management is a modular enterprise solution with custom pricing. DemandFlow ITSM is another paid option.

Verdict

BlueKing CMDB is a strong choice for technically equipped organizations that want a free, adaptable platform for asset modeling, discovery, and operational tracking. Its principal drawback is decisive for some teams: the open-source edition has no login or user management. If authenticated access is a requirement, choose another platform; if you can operate the system and accept that constraint, its breadth and extensibility make it a credible CMDB choice.
