Overview

Mixos Mold is browser-based software for sculpting organic 3D forms, suited to artists and learners who want to work across devices without installing a desktop sculpting app. Its broad sculpting toolkit is available free, but getting a finished mesh out of Mold requires a paid plan or perpetual license.

Key features

Sculpting and topology

Mold combines GPU sculpting with pressure-sensitive brushes and tools for subdivision, dynamic topology, masking, symmetry, stamp alphas, brush presets and remeshing. Automatic retopology, multiresolution sculpting and voxel sculpting add options for shaping and refining a model. The free plan includes unlimited sculpting, every brush and every subdivision level, making it possible to explore the core workflow before paying. The meaningful restriction is at the end: free users can save to their library, but cannot download a finished mesh.

Models and texturing

Import OBJ, FBX and GLB models, unwrap a sculpt, then send it to Mixos Paint for layered PBR texturing. That creates a direct path from sculpting into texturing within the Mixos tools. The broader Mixos desktop app's Live Link streams materials into Blender, Cinema 4D and Unreal; that handoff is distinct from Mold's export options.

Browser workflow and privacy

Mold runs without installation in a WebGPU-capable browser. The maker says projects save to an account and can be reopened on other devices after sign-in; editing runs locally in the browser, while saved projects are stored to the account. It also says projects, models, textures, brushes and prompts are not used to train AI models. Organizations that require a SOC 2, ISO 27001 or equivalent audit, or an uptime guarantee, should look elsewhere: the maker says it provides none of these.

Pricing

Mold is freemium, with no free trial. Free costs 0.00 USD per free, billed $0 forever. It includes unlimited Mold sculpting, all brushes and subdivision levels, 10 trial AI credits and 100 MB cloud storage. It suits people learning the tools or sculpting without needing to export; the export restriction makes it a poor fit for a production workflow that needs downloadable meshes.

Pro costs 8.99 USD per month, billed monthly. It adds Mold mesh export as GLB, OBJ and STL, 50 AI credits/month, 25 GB cloud storage and email support. This is the entry point for users who need to take finished work out of Mold.

Max costs 17.99 USD per month, billed monthly. It includes everything in Pro, 150 AI credits/month, 50 GB cloud storage and priority support. The additional cost mainly suits users who need the larger monthly AI-credit and storage allowances or priority support.

The Perpetual license costs 99.00 USD per once, billed $99 once. It includes 4K watermark-free export forever, mesh export and 20 GB cloud storage; AI credits are sold separately. It avoids a monthly subscription for export, but offers less cloud storage than Pro or Max and no included AI-credit allowance.

Platforms

Mold is available on web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. Desktop use requires a WebGPU-capable browser; the maker names Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Brave, and Safari 26+. On iPad and Android devices it runs in a WebGPU-capable browser. It is also included in the free Mixos iOS app for iOS 26 or later. Browser and device requirements matter: users whose hardware or browser cannot support WebGPU cannot use the browser workflow. Account sign-in lets users reopen saved sculpts across devices.

Who it's for

Mold is a sensible fit for game artists, motion designers, 3D hobbyists and students who want a flexible sculpting toolkit, especially if they value browser access and a route into layered texturing. Studios can consider it for that workflow, but the absence of an uptime guarantee and formal security audit is a significant drawback for teams with operational or compliance requirements. Support is by email, with in-app feedback that includes the app version.

Pros and cons

Pro: The free tier includes unlimited sculpting and every brush and subdivision level, so users can work through the core sculpting tools without a time-limited trial.
Pro: OBJ, FBX and GLB import, plus a handoff to Mixos Paint for layered PBR texturing, supports a connected sculpt-to-texture workflow.
Pro: Browser access and account-saved projects make it possible to move between supported devices without installing Mold.
Con: Free users cannot download finished meshes, so export-dependent work requires Pro, Max or the perpetual license.
Con: WebGPU is required, and desktop Safari support starts at version 26; older or unsupported setups are excluded.
Con: The maker provides no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or equivalent audit or uptime guarantee, which may rule it out for some studio deployments.

Alternatives

Tamga is another freemium option for readers comparing sculpting tools across web and desktop platforms; its maker identifies himself as Ahmet Levent Taşel.

3DCoat may suit readers who want a free trial and a Linux, macOS or Windows option; its listed 3DCoat 2026 Individual Node-locked plan is 379.00 EUR per month and includes 12 months of free updates.

Re:Form is worth considering for Mac or web users who prefer a free plan with a stated project allowance; its free tier covers about 12.5 million triangles and five projects of up to 150 MB each.

ZBrush offers a free iPad plan with 28 brushes, while its iPad subscription includes multi-resolution mesh editing.

SculptGL is a free option for readers who want web, Windows or extension access and no stated paid plan or usage limits.

Instant Meshes is a free alternative for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Vertexix is another freemium option.

Hexagon VISI is a paid Windows option.

Verdict

Choose Mixos Mold if you want a capable browser-based sculpting toolkit, cross-device project access and a route to layered texturing, with the option to pay when you need mesh export. The free tier makes it approachable for learning and experimentation, but export is not free, WebGPU is mandatory, and the lack of formal security audits or uptime guarantees makes it a less convincing choice for teams with strict operational requirements.
