Overview

Infor Public Sector is a cloud ERP for government agencies, utilities, and K–12 organizations managing finance, procurement, and public-facing services. It is best suited to organizations that want administrative operations and permitting workflows in one broader system.

Its breadth is a strength, but the combination of ERP and specialized community-development tools may be more system than an organization needs if it only wants accounting or permitting software.

Key features

ERP and financial controls

The ERP covers financial management, budgeting and planning, procurement, human capital management, predictive analytics, process automation, and disaster preparedness. Restricted-fund tracking, grant management, audit trails, multi-entity support, and multi-currency accounting address needs common to complex public organizations. Inventory, order, and supplier management extend its reach into operational purchasing.

For organizations that manufacture or manage production, the feature set also includes manufacturing tools, work-in-progress tracking, production costing, shop-floor reporting, and multiple inventory valuation methods. Logistics planning and fulfillment management further broaden the operational scope. That range could reduce the need for separate systems, but buyers should confirm how the modules fit their own workflows before committing.

Permitting and field work

Community Development and Regulation handles planning, permits, licenses, inspections, and code enforcement. Its public portal lets residents and businesses complete licensing and permitting tasks online and access customer service. This makes the product a stronger fit for agencies seeking to connect internal administration with public transactions than a finance-only ERP.

Infor Field Inspector supports inspections and service requests on Android, Windows, and iOS. It can work offline when configured to download a subset of data to the device, which can help field staff in areas with unreliable connectivity. Offline use depends on that configuration rather than being an unconditional capability.

Integration and security

Infor ION supports hybrid integrations between Infor and third-party applications running in cloud or on-premises environments. The product is described as cloud-based on AWS GovCloud and supports FedRAMP standards. Infor Government Solutions also says its securely configured CloudSuites run on AWS GovCloud infrastructure managed by US Persons and support FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, and ITAR frameworks. Agencies with specific security or integration requirements should verify the applicable configuration for their deployment.

Infor reports more than 1,700 support experts. That scale may matter to organizations planning a substantial implementation, though it does not establish what support level an individual customer receives.

Pricing

Infor Public Sector is paid software with custom pricing; contact Infor for a quote. No per-seat rate, package breakdown, trial, or renewal terms are established. With no published entry tier to compare, organizations should seek a scoped proposal that identifies the modules, deployment, and services they require.

Platforms

The listed platforms are Android, iOS, Windows, web, API, and self-hosted. The product is described as cloud-deployed; confirm what self-hosted support means for the specific components under consideration. Field Inspector's mobile availability and configured offline data are useful for inspection teams, while API access and ION support broader integration needs.

Who it's for

Infor Public Sector is a plausible fit for public agencies, utilities, and K–12 organizations that need financial controls alongside permitting, licensing, inspections, or public service requests. Its operational and manufacturing capabilities may also suit organizations with inventory or production responsibilities. Smaller teams seeking only a narrow function may find its broad ERP scope difficult to justify.

Pros and cons

Pros

Broad public-sector scope: Finance, procurement, grants, restricted funds, and audit trails sit alongside permitting and public-service workflows.
Resident-facing transactions: The portal supports online licensing, permitting, and customer service tasks.
Field work with offline support: Inspectors can use mobile apps across three operating systems, with offline access when data is configured on-device.
Government security framework support: Infor describes support for FedRAMP and several additional frameworks through its Government Solutions environment.

Cons

Custom pricing: Buyers cannot compare a published plan price or seat rate, making an initial budget estimate harder.
Broad scope may be unnecessary: Organizations needing only accounting or permitting may not benefit from the combined ERP and operational feature set.
Offline capability needs setup: Mobile users rely on a downloaded subset of data, so field workflows require configuration.

Verdict

Choose Infor Public Sector if your agency, utility, or school system needs a broad cloud ERP that can connect finance and operational controls with permitting, public transactions, and mobile inspections. Its strongest case is that breadth, backed by government-focused security framework support. Look elsewhere if you need only a narrow application or require a clear published price before engaging a vendor.
