Overview

Bagisto brings several selling models into one platform, including multi-vendor marketplaces, B2B commerce, and multi-tenant SaaS stores. That flexibility suits businesses whose needs extend beyond a single conventional shop. It also supports multichannel sales, digital products, and an app marketplace. One notable gap for retailers is abandoned cart recovery, which Bagisto does not offer.

The free, open-source software has no listed license price, but it is not a managed storefront service. Operators must provision and maintain the hosting environment. Installation options include Composer and a source package, with cloud and AWS deployment routes also offered.

Key features

Headless commerce and APIs

Bagisto separates the storefront from its commerce backend and supports frontends built with React, Vue, Angular, or Next.js. That gives development teams room to control the customer experience, but it makes less sense for a business looking for a single turnkey storefront. REST and GraphQL APIs cover commerce operations such as cart, checkout, shipping, and payment.

Retail operations and integrations

Its retail POS synchronizes orders and inventory in real time between physical outlets and the online store, a practical fit for retailers selling through both channels. The maker lists integrations across marketplaces, payments, shipping, analytics, CRM, ERP, and PIM, including Amazon, eBay, PayPal, Stripe, FedEx, Google Analytics, and Akeneo. This breadth can connect a larger commerce stack, though the platform's self-hosted nature still leaves deployment and ongoing operations with the buyer.

Security and support

Bagisto describes encryption for sensitive data in transit and at rest, and its security practices as GDPR-aligned and SOC 2 aligned. Version 2.4.0 adds admin two-factor authentication and upgrades bot protection to reCAPTCHA Enterprise. The headless platform page offers three months of free support.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
Bagisto	Free	Free open-source download; self-hosted, with PHP 8.3+, MySQL 8.0.32+ or MariaDB 10.3+, and at least 4 GB RAM.

This plan suits teams that can supply and maintain their own server environment. The software charge is zero, but the infrastructure and operations are not included in that price. Requirements also include Apache 2 or NGINX, a 1 GHz or faster processor, Node 18.12.0 LTS or higher, and Composer 2.5 or higher. Buyers without technical resources for this stack should consider a hosted alternative.

Platforms

Bagisto supports API, Linux, self-hosted, web, and Windows. Its hosting model is self-hosted, so platform compatibility does not remove the need to arrange and manage deployment.

Who it's for

Bagisto fits merchants and development teams that need a choice of store models, headless frontend flexibility, and control over hosting. It is particularly relevant to businesses combining online and physical retail or building marketplace and B2B operations. It is a weaker choice for operators who want managed hosting or depend on abandoned cart recovery.

Pros and cons

Pros: One platform supports marketplaces, B2B commerce, and multi-tenant SaaS stores, giving businesses room to serve different commerce models.
Pros: Headless frontends, REST and GraphQL APIs, and broad integration categories give developers multiple ways to build and connect a commerce stack.
Pros: POS synchronization links physical outlet orders and inventory with the online store in real time.
Cons: Self-hosting requires a suitable server and ongoing maintenance, so the free software does not eliminate operational work.
Cons: Abandoned cart recovery is absent, leaving retailers without that capability in the platform.

Alternatives

Verdict

Choose Bagisto if your business needs multiple commerce models, frontend control, and the ability to operate its own stack without a software license charge. Its broad APIs and retail synchronization are meaningful advantages. Look elsewhere if you need managed hosting or abandoned cart recovery, or if your team cannot take responsibility for the server requirements.
