Overview

AskSia handles problems in math, science, engineering, business, and computer science, returning step-by-step explanations. Students can type, paste, photograph, or speak a question, and mathematical notation can be entered in LaTeX. That flexibility helps when a problem is awkward to transcribe, while the worked steps make it more useful for learning than a bare answer.

The service extends a solution with requests for alternate methods, practice problems, and flashcards. It also offers more than 184 topic-specific solvers. Those follow-ups make AskSia a better fit for students who want to revisit a topic than for someone seeking only a one-off answer.

AskSia says it is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any university. Its agreement prohibits cheating and plagiarism and recommends against using the platform during tests or exams. It is a study aid, not a tool for completing assessed work dishonestly.

Key features

Problem solving and study follow-up

Step-by-step solutions cover five broad subject areas, and students can ask for a different approach or generate practice and flashcards after a solve. The range is useful for mixed coursework, though the service’s stated audience is high school and early university students rather than every level of study.

Exports and course platforms

The web app can export to PDF, DOCX, Notion, and Google Docs, giving students ways to keep or organize solved material. The Chrome extension supports Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, Moodle, Everytime, CyberCampus, Echo360, and Panopto. It is read-only and does not write to an LMS or share the user’s LMS password with AskSia.

For extension data, AskSia says synced course materials are encrypted with TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest, are not used to train AI, and can be deleted. These controls matter to students using course materials through the extension, though they do not change the service’s academic-integrity obligations.

Pricing

AskSia is freemium. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes daily problem solves, step-by-step solutions, and photo input.

No paid AskSia plan is established here, so students needing more capacity should confirm current options before making it a regular part of their study routine. The free plan’s value depends on whether its daily allowance covers their workload.

Platforms

AskSia is available on web, iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows, as well as through a Chrome extension. That spread suits students who switch between phone and computer; the LMS integrations are specifically tied to the extension.

Who it's for

AskSia is best suited to high school and first- or second-year university students who need worked guidance across multiple subjects and want practice materials after solving. It is less appropriate for students who need unlimited daily solving on a confirmed budget, or anyone intending to use answers during tests or exams.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple input methods, including photos, speech, and LaTeX, reduce the effort of entering varied problems.
Pros: Alternate methods, practice problems, and flashcards extend a solve into review.
Pros: The extension’s read-only LMS access, password separation, encryption, and deletion option offer useful boundaries for course materials.
Cons: The free plan is capped at daily solves, with no allowance stated, making it difficult to judge whether it will cover a demanding study schedule.
Cons: Its stated student focus and prohibition on cheating rule it out as a shortcut for exam work or dishonest submission.

Verdict

Choose AskSia if you are a high school or early university student who wants guided, multi-subject solutions followed by practice and review tools. Its flexible input and broad device coverage make it useful for recurring study, but the unknown daily free allowance is a real constraint. Look elsewhere if you need a clearly defined high-volume plan or a tool for math alone.
