Overview

TotalCloud covers AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure through a shared license, control plane, and TruRisk score. It combines cloud posture and workload protection with entitlement management, detection and response, Kubernetes and container security, infrastructure as code, SaaS, data, and AI security. For multi-cloud teams, that can reduce the need to work across separate security tools; organizations looking for only one narrow capability may find the platform broader than they need.

TruRisk ranks verified, attackable exposures using exploitability, threat intelligence, asset criticality, and runtime context. FlexScan supports agentless, agent-based, network, and pipeline scanning. Qualys says TotalCloud can assess cloud resources, including transient and ephemeral assets, in under 10 minutes, and claims scanning accuracy up to 99.99966%. These capabilities are relevant to fast-changing environments, but teams should determine whether the scanning methods and risk prioritization fit their workloads.

Key features

Multiple security domains: CSPM, CWPP, CIEM, CDR, Kubernetes and container security, IaC, SSPM, DSPM, and AI-SPM are brought together. This range may help teams seeking one platform across cloud infrastructure, workloads, identities, SaaS, data, and AI; it is less compelling if those functions are already covered by a focused stack.
Automated remediation: QFlow offers more than 300 playbooks and integrates with ServiceNow, Jira, SIEM, and SOAR platforms. Response actions can also notify or route work through Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, and Jira tickets, giving teams several paths to connect findings with operational workflows.
SaaS posture and compliance: TotalCloud manages posture across Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Zoom, and Google Workspace, and includes pre-built frameworks for CIS, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, NIST, and other standards. That combination can help teams with both cloud and SaaS governance needs.
Development and operations connections: Supported integrations include GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Bamboo, Azure DevOps, VSCode, Jira, and ServiceNow. The range can support security work across development and service-management workflows.
Container and serverless coverage: Container, Kubernetes, and serverless protection are supported. Qualys also supports CentOS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Ubuntu hosts, which helps define the environments in scope.

Pricing

TotalCloud is a paid product with custom pricing on request and a 30-day trial. The TotalCloud Free license costs 0.00 USD per free, but its control evaluation is subject to limited API calls. That makes it a constrained way to explore the platform rather than an unlimited free deployment.

The Qualys Cloud Platform subscription has no published price; cost varies with Cloud Platform Apps, network addresses (IPs), web applications, and user licenses. This variable basis means buyers should map their intended scope before comparing costs. Qualys subscriptions include 24/7/365 telephone and online customer and technical support, free training, and certification. The free license does not replace the paid subscription where the API-call cap is insufficient.

Platforms

TotalCloud is available through API and web platforms and uses a hybrid deployment model. Its cloud coverage spans AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The mix of cloud providers and deployment model suits organizations operating across environments rather than teams committed to a single cloud.

Who it's for

TotalCloud is best suited to organizations managing security across multiple cloud providers, containers, and SaaS applications, especially where consolidated risk prioritization and automated remediation matter. Its compliance frameworks and broad integrations also suit teams that need security findings to connect with engineering and service workflows. A buyer seeking just a single scanning or posture function, or one who needs predictable public pricing, should weigh that breadth against the custom quote model.

Pros and cons

Pro: Four major cloud providers share a license, control plane, and TruRisk score, supporting a unified view for multi-cloud teams.
Pro: More than 300 QFlow playbooks and integrations with ticketing, SIEM, SOAR, and collaboration tools give teams options for operationalizing remediation.
Pro: SaaS posture, container, Kubernetes, serverless, and compliance coverage extend beyond basic cloud configuration checks.
Con: Subscription pricing varies by apps, IPs, web applications, and user licenses, so costs depend on deployment scope.
Con: The free license has limited API calls for control evaluation, restricting its usefulness for ongoing or broad assessment.

Alternatives

Sysdig Secure is worth considering when host-count-based licensing better matches the environment; its licensing is based on hosts, including compute instances for CSPM. FortiCNAPP offers Standard tiers with entitlement per vCPU and one- or three-year billing terms, which may suit buyers comparing capacity-based commitments.

Palo Alto Networks Cortex Cloud API Security is another paid API- and web-platform option. AccuKnox may fit buyers wanting a freemium option or custom pay-as-you-go pricing for individual modules or a CNAPP bundle. Upwind CNAPP is another paid API- and web-platform alternative.

Wiz Defend uses modular licensing with pricing by quote and has no free plan. OpenCNAPP is a free, self-hosted alternative identified as part of Xcitium, LLC Cybersecurity Company. Tenable One Attack Surface Management is a paid option for Linux, macOS, web, and Windows, with pricing by demo or quote.

Verdict

Choose Qualys TotalCloud if your organization needs a common security platform for multi-cloud workloads, SaaS, containers, and remediation workflows. Its breadth and cross-cloud risk prioritization are the main reasons to shortlist it; look elsewhere if you need one focused capability or a predictable published price.
