Overview

Founded in Kitchener, Ontario, in 2015, ApplyBoard connects students, recruitment partners, and academic institutions around the study-abroad process. Students can search programs, apply online, and track progress in one place. The free account removes a platform charge, not the separate fees institutions may charge applicants.

Key features

Program search and comparison: AI-guided search and personalized recommendations span more than 150,000 programs. Students can also compare institutions and search scholarships, giving applicants a broad starting point; recommendations do not replace checking whether a program suits their goals.
Application and document management: Students can submit applications online, track progress, and manage documents through the platform. Keeping those tasks together can help applicants follow their submissions, though application fees may still apply and some partner schools may waive them.
Interview practice: AI interview practice provides 10 questions and feedback reports for UK applicants, and 12 questions with feedback reports for US applicants. It is a focused preparation aid for those destinations, rather than a general interview service.
Related services and guidance: The 360 Solutions interface includes language tests, international payments, and student loans. Students can also get guidance from an education counsellor and a team of experts during the visa application process. This widens the support around an application, while the platform’s stated destination set is Canada, the USA, the UK, Australia, Ireland, and Germany.
Security and account access: ApplyBoard says personal-information databases are encrypted using AES and student data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2. It also says it performs penetration tests and engages independent third parties for application-level tests. After registering, students may authenticate through Facebook, Apple, or Google via Okta.

Pricing

Student account — free: Search and platform use are free, with no free trial. The plan suits students who want to explore programs and manage an application without a platform subscription. It does not cover application fees charged by colleges or universities; some partner schools may offer waivers. No platform quota or seat limit is stated.

Platforms

ApplyBoard is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Its mobile app also lets recruitment partners review fulfilled application requirements and manage applications, which is useful for partners working away from a desk.

Who it's for

ApplyBoard is a strong fit for international students looking to compare programs, search scholarships, submit applications, and track their progress within one service, especially applicants to its six named destinations who may benefit from interview practice or visa guidance. It is less suitable for someone seeking study options outside those countries or expecting a free account to cover institution charges.

Pros and cons

Pro: Search across more than 150,000 programs, with personalized recommendations, institution comparison, and scholarship search in the same service.
Pro: Free search and platform use combine with online applications, progress tracking, and document management.
Pro: Interview practice and visa-application guidance add targeted support for applicants who need it.
Con: The six named destinations make the service a narrower fit for students considering other study countries.
Con: Students remain responsible for institutional application fees, so a free platform does not make applying cost-free.

Alternatives

Study Abroad Platforms is a useful directory for comparing services across the category. Choose Shiksha if you want a free listing on Android, iOS, and web; its opened pages do not state paid plans or feature limits. Edvoy is another free option, with AI course matching and video counselling; its Genie service groups admission prospects into three categories, while university acceptance remains discretionary. Consider GradRight for a free student service with no student fee stated. Admission Bravo offers a free web student platform, with university fees paid directly to the university. Admission.ly offers free web access to search, compare, or submit an application where a route is available, though institution and related fees may still apply. Mastersportal is a free web option focused on searching and comparing Master's programmes, universities, scholarships, tuition fees, and destinations. upGrad GSP offers free access for recruitment partners. Leverage Edu is another free option available on Android, iOS, and web.

Verdict

Choose ApplyBoard if you want a free, broad program search tied to application management, document handling, and support for study abroad. Its main advantage is bringing those student tasks together; look elsewhere if your destination is beyond the six named countries or you need a service that pays institutional application fees.
