Overview

Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) is a cloud clean room for advertisers who want to analyze Amazon Ads signals alongside their own data and use the findings to shape audiences. Its strongest case is for eligible advertisers working across Amazon campaigns; privacy controls and broad campaign signals are valuable, but its outputs are aggregated rather than person-level.

Built on AWS Clean Rooms, AMC brings together pseudonymized signals from Amazon properties, advertisers, and onboarded third-party providers for flexible analysis. Advertisers can examine customer journeys across Amazon Ads media and channels, including impact at Amazon stores and advertiser-owned sites. The service provides hundreds of campaign fields, such as ad-attributed impressions, clicks, and conversions, across a 25-month ad-traffic window.

AMC is available through a web interface and APIs. SQL supports flexible querying, while curated templates and Ads Agent assistance provide a route to insight generation and visualization without SQL. The latter may lower the barrier for teams without SQL expertise, though it does not change the aggregated nature of the results.

Key features

Journey measurement: Analyze customer journeys across Amazon Ads media and channels, including advertising impact at online and offline Amazon stores and advertiser-owned sites. This is useful for advertisers seeking a broader view of campaign effects than ad-level signals alone.
Audience building: Build audiences from engagement records, conversion events, and segment information, then activate them for sponsored, video, and display ads. This links analysis to Amazon campaign activation, but is not a general-purpose audience destination outside those ad formats.
Signal management: Ads Data Manager and integrated signal management tools connect Amazon Ads, advertiser, and third-party provider signals. Native AMC integrations from Xmars, Pacvue, Treasure Data, and LiveRamp may suit advertisers already using those vendors.
Privacy controls: AMC accepts pseudonymized inputs and returns only aggregated, anonymous outputs. Uploaded advertiser signals remain in the dedicated instance and cannot be exported or accessed by Amazon. Those protections suit collaborative analysis where individual-level data exposure is unacceptable, while the aggregation limits what can be learned about specific people.
APIs and analysis: APIs support reporting, audience management, and onboarding advertiser first-party signals by stream or upload. SQL is available for analysis; templates and Ads Agent assistance offer no-SQL insight and visualization tools.

Pricing

Amazon Marketing Cloud: Free. AMC is available at no cost to eligible advertisers, with access through a web-based UI and API. Amazon DSP advertisers can request access from an Ad Tech Account Executive; sponsored ads advertisers can use self-service access. There is no published seat allowance, quota, trial period, or renewal term to weigh, but eligibility is a meaningful gate: this is not a free clean room open to every organization.

There is one free plan, so there is no lower paid tier that trades away features. Prospective users can contact an Amazon Ads account executive, and the Ads Agent course describes product support within AMC.

Platforms

AMC supports web and API access and is deployed in the cloud. The API is especially relevant to teams automating reporting, audience management, or first-party signal onboarding; web access supports UI-based work.

Who it's for

AMC is best suited to eligible Amazon advertisers that need to connect campaign signals with advertiser or third-party inputs, measure journeys, and activate resulting audiences in Amazon sponsored, video, or display ads. It is less suitable for organizations that cannot meet advertiser eligibility, need identifiable or exportable person-level results, or want a clean room whose audience activation is not centered on Amazon advertising.

Pros and cons

Pro: No-cost access for eligible advertisers lowers the price barrier to analysis and audience building, with both UI and API entry points.
Pro: A 25-month signal window and hundreds of campaign fields support longitudinal campaign analysis across impressions, clicks, and conversions.
Pro: Aggregated anonymous outputs and protected advertiser uploads make privacy constraints central to the design.
Con: Eligibility limits access, and advertiser access routes differ between Amazon DSP and sponsored ads users.
Con: Aggregated outputs protect privacy but cannot answer questions that require identifiable, individual-level results.
Con: Audience activation is tied to sponsored, video, and display ads, making AMC a narrower fit for teams seeking broader marketing activation.

Verdict

Eligible Amazon advertisers should choose AMC when they need privacy-conscious analysis of Amazon campaign signals, journey measurement, and audience building without a software charge. Its combination of long signal access, APIs, and Amazon ad activation is compelling for that focused job. Look elsewhere if access eligibility is a barrier, if individual-level outputs are essential, or if the campaign and audience workflow must extend beyond Amazon ad formats.
