Overview

Adapt is a revision-planning and study app for GCSE, A Level and other supported qualification students. It is best for learners who want exam planning, course materials and practice brought together; its main drawback is that course resources vary and the free tier is constrained.

Key features

Adapt builds a revision schedule around exam dates and available study time, then updates it as the student progresses. Premium users can choose when topics return, whether to mix subjects each day and how many weeks ahead to schedule. That makes it useful for students who want a plan that responds to their progress, but less compelling for those who prefer to set every revision session themselves.

The catalogue spans more than 1,200 courses across 20 qualifications and levels. Premium adds teacher-written notes and audio lessons, including language switching on supported language topics. Practice includes unlimited quiz and past-paper questions, worked explanations for multiple-choice answers and hints for written questions. Together, these features support more than scheduling alone, though coverage of written content and practice questions differs by course.

Adapt for Schools lets teachers see aggregated, anonymous class confidence ratings to spot topics that may need attention. Students connect through a six-character code supplied by their school. This is a school-oriented support feature, rather than a reason for an individual student to choose the app.

Pricing

The free plan costs £0 forever and works in a browser and mobile app. It includes limited revision content and practice questions, shows ads and caps weekly note views. It is a sensible way to check course coverage, but those limits may make it inadequate for sustained revision.

Premium Monthly costs £24.99 per month, billed monthly, and can be cancelled at any time. It includes unlimited Premium features on browser and mobile. This suits students who want full access without committing through an exam year, but the recurring monthly price is the highest-cost route over an extended period.

Premium 2027 Exams costs £89.99 once for access until August 2027, equivalent to £8.19/month. Premium 2028 Exams costs £149.99 once for access until August 2028, equivalent to £6.59/month. Both are exam-period options for students who can commit upfront; the longer access period costs more overall but has the lower stated monthly equivalent. Premium Lifetime costs £249.99 once for lifetime access, making it the longest-term option for students who expect to keep using Adapt beyond a single exam cycle. Recurring subscriptions can be stopped through the account or the store used to subscribe, and access normally continues until the paid period ends.

Platforms

Adapt is available on the web, iOS and Android. The free plan and Premium both include browser and mobile app access.

Who it's for

Adapt is a strong fit for GCSE, A Level and other supported-qualification students who want an automatically updated revision schedule alongside course-specific notes and practice. Check that the needed written content and questions are available for the exact course before paying. Students who only need assignment tracking or a basic timetable may find a dedicated planner better suited to their needs.

Pros and cons

Pros: The schedule adjusts as students progress, reducing the need to keep a revision timetable manually in sync.
Pros: Premium combines notes, audio lessons, unlimited quizzes and past-paper questions, with explanations and hints that support practice.
Pros: One-time exam-period and lifetime plans provide alternatives to monthly renewal.
Cons: Course-level content and question availability varies, so the catalogue's overall scale does not guarantee complete coverage for an individual student.
Cons: The free tier has ads, limited weekly note views, and limited content and practice, restricting its usefulness for intensive study.

Alternatives

Study Planner Apps and Exam Prep Apps are useful starting points for comparing broader categories.

Choose myHomework Student Planner if tracking assignments, projects, tests, classes and due dates matters more than revision resources; its free plan includes reminders and device sync and is ad-supported. Power Planner is another planner option, with a free plan limited to one semester, five grades per class, one repeating bulk task or event entry and one photo attachment per item.

Fasti may suit students looking for a schedule-focused free tier, which allows up to 30 events and recurring blocks and two starter schedule imports. MyStudyLife is worth considering for a planner with a free trial; its free plan includes the full planner but limits users to five tasks at a time, with a first AI timetable scan.

For course resources, compare Save My Exams, whose Premium plans provide full access to Premium resources. Simplyr may suit students seeking broader study tools: its free tier includes courses, assignments, exams, grades, planning and focus timers, with limits on notebooks, PDFs and flashcard decks. DoMind is a simpler offline option with no account required and all features on its free plan, subject to limited entries per category. Choose Helium if open-source software is a priority; it is free and its code is publicly available on GitHub.

Verdict

Adapt is a good choice for qualification students who want revision planning that changes with their progress and Premium materials and practice in the same app. Its strongest reason to choose it is that combination; its strongest reason to look elsewhere is uneven course-level coverage, compounded by a tightly limited free plan. Confirm that the relevant course has the resources needed before committing to a paid term.
