Overview

Enter lease information and adjustments, and 16Leases automatically computes lease results and provides payment schedules. The focus is accounting rather than general contract management: users can export leases to Excel, share them by email with another 16Leases account holder, and organize leases across multiple companies. Excel export supports spreadsheet work, but teams seeking named third-party integrations will need another solution.

Key features

IFRS 16 calculations and adjustments

The software calculates lease liabilities and right-of-use asset costs, with support for journal entries. Its adjustments cover residual value guarantees, termination penalties, purchase options, lease incentives, initial direct costs, and dismantling or restoration costs. That range suits accountants handling leases with more than routine payments; it is less compelling for organizations that need broader accounting-system connectivity.

Schedules and company management

Payment schedules are provided, and Premium and Enterprise users can customize them manually. Those paid plans therefore matter most when standard schedules do not fit a team's requirements. Multi-company management helps accounting firms and finance teams keep lease portfolios separated by company.

Security, backups and support

The maker says sign-in uses an emailed token as a second factor, with token delivery using SHA-1 encryption, and that user data is backed up on Microsoft Azure. Technical support is available by phone, email and remote access from 11 am to 6 pm IST, Monday through Friday. These are useful safeguards and support channels, though the stated support window may not suit every time zone.

Pricing

The Free plan is 0.00 USD per free for a trial account with one user. The free trial lasts 30 days, but lease-document attachments are unavailable during it—a meaningful constraint for teams that need to assess document handling before paying.

Premium has custom pricing and includes one user, lease editing and customized payment schedules. It fits an individual accountant who needs those paid features. Enterprise also has custom pricing, with unlimited users plus lease editing and customized payment schedules; it is the better fit for larger teams. Because both paid plans use custom pricing, buyers should request a quote to compare costs before committing.

Platforms

16Leases is listed for iOS, Linux, macOS, self-hosted deployment, web and Windows. That range accommodates varied environments, including organizations that need self-hosting.

Who it's for

Chartered and certified public accountants, accountants, finance managers, businesses and accounting firms serving clients are the clearest audience. The combination of IFRS 16 calculations, adjustment options, journal entries and multi-company management makes it particularly relevant to teams responsible for lease accounting across entities. It is a weaker fit for buyers whose priority is document attachments during evaluation or integration with other accounting software.

Pros and cons

Pros: Automatic IFRS 16 calculations and a broad set of accounting adjustments reduce the need to handle those lease inputs separately.
Pros: Multi-company management and journal-entry support address accounting workflows across entities.
Pros: Excel export and email sharing offer straightforward ways to move lease information between colleagues and spreadsheets.
Cons: The 30-day trial does not allow lease-document attachments, limiting evaluation of that workflow.
Cons: Premium and Enterprise pricing is custom, so buyers cannot compare published plan prices upfront.
Cons: Sharing by email requires the recipient to have a 16Leases account, and no third-party integrations are named.
