Red Mobile was a virtual mobile carrier in the Philippines, formerly known as ümobile and legally as Connectivity Unlimited Resource Enterprise, Inc. It began in 2001 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Smart Communications. At launch as ümobile, it used the CURE Universal Mobile Telecommunications System network and offered an invitation-based, ad-supported service aimed at subscribers aged 15 to 35 from middle- and upper-class groups. After a rebrand, it dropped the invitation system and advertising model for a more traditional marketing and revenue approach. In March 2010, Red Mobile began promoting unlimited service offerings. Subscribers later reported online that the CURE UMTS network had been converted to GSM. The carrier closed in July 2012. Its listed official site is redmobile.com.
